It gets a lot worse - that “non-slip” backing begins to decompose into tiny white chunks of rubber within a few week or so and the stuff gets all over the car, your clothing and anything near it. Also the straps are too long and don’t really hold all that well.
I miss being able to put seat covers on my leather seats in the summer, but apparently, the airbags make that a no-no. Instead, I just throw an ugly beach towel down or resign myself to wearing pants or burning my skin off.
@PurplePawprints This looks like it’s pretty much just a towel with a strap to hang it up. It ought not interfere with your air getting baggy or your bags getting aired.
@cengland0 My last few cars have had airbags in the seats and say specifically not to use any kind of covers. @djslack and @mbimeh may be right that these might be okay, but I haven’t ever wanted to risk it (I’m worried that the straps might interfere or something).
@cengland0 a lot of newer cars have side impact torso airbags built into the seat. Basically airbags that protect you from left to right movement in a crash. A car seat cover that wraps around the sides of the seat would constrict those airbags.
@PurplePawprints@aristan Hey, thanks for that info. Now that I think of it, my car is probably one of them that has something in the seats because it does have side airbags. Either it drops from just above the door or out from the seat – or both.
@PurplePawprints I have one from a previous offer, and it’s just a towel – I doubt it’d affect airbags at all. OTOH, it doesn’t really work any better than a towel, the retaining strap is ridiculous and has to be modified, it has a hideous high-visibility logo on it, and it sheds rubbery dandruff.
OTOOH, some of the ones on sale today are apparently cheaper than towels.
@norman8 You have not yet seen then my daughter’s car after and an18 mo, 3 and 4 year old consume food in there and/or get in after walking through mud
I’m tempted to buy the orange ones because they’re so cheap and I love orange. Damn these things are fucking ugly though. Maybe if they didn’t have the hideous logo.
Nope, nope, nope. 11% 1-star reviews on Amazon, many for the anti-slip backing disintegrating and leaving sand-grain-sized particles all over the interior of the car. Don’t need another cleanup generator.
These covers are made from the hides of failed muppets. It’s a tough world out there, and the muppet business is cutthroat. Now you know, kids. Now you know.
These covers are great , if they had grey or black I would buy more . I can’t stand leather seats in cold or very hot weather, remote start cars will not turn on the seat warmers in winter .I have 12 air bags in my cars and if they all went off my legs and chest would be wrapped in a 4 inch lip of terry cloth
@martycaw Don’t forget punched in the head with steering wheel and side airbags and covered in dust.
I had a side impact where my Driver Door & Steering Wheel airbag went off and I wasn’t expecting it felt like I got punched in the head and chest at the same time
Think these are the same ones I bought on Meh awhile back. They are OK, but the one I’ve been using seems to be disintegrating and leaving little white rubber bits all over my seat/car. Also, the strap system is a bit too long to properly tighten it to the headrest.
I bought something similar 10 years ago to put under the kids car seat so we would at least some barrier between the mess that comes from small children and the sponge of cloth seats. Did ok for a few years.
@keysbill ‘something decent’ is like a whole lot more. I bought the orange disintegrating covers to replace the black disintegrating covers now in the truck. The truck only gets used 10 times a year. Still I worry the orange will make me think twice about using the truck. Maybe I could go over it with a black sharpie?
I’ve been waiting for these to come up at the Goodwill for a few years now. I’m tired of waiting, and pulled the trigger.
"Soft microfiber wicks moisture away from you car seat."
What? I’m not driving naked. Am I missing something here? Are most people driving with no pants on and I haven’t noticed this?
These are not bad, especially for the money. They have a bit of grippy rubber on the back, which is also the moisture barrier. The top is terry cloth/towel type material. Truthfully, you’d pay more for two good towels to cover the seats that wouldn’t attach to the headrest. They slide a bit, if you slide, so you kind of need to rise up and sit ‘down’ on them. Other than that, not bad at all.

Wow those are ugly.
@The_Tim what he said
@The_Tim yeah. Came here to say the same thing. Would have bought if they weren’t so hideous looking.
It gets a lot worse - that “non-slip” backing begins to decompose into tiny white chunks of rubber within a few week or so and the stuff gets all over the car, your clothing and anything near it. Also the straps are too long and don’t really hold all that well.
Got some on the last go-round and threw them out.
“Minimize the aroma in your Toyota Tacoma”
Are you insinuating there’s something wrong with my aroma?? I mean, yeah, I shop on meh, but come on…
@eeterrific You needed to read the bullet before that one to understand fully.
@cengland0 But what about farts? Are farts included? This is need to know info people!
Oooh, dare I buy dayglo orange seat covers for my purple car? This is a secret dream.
@mossygreen I love orange.
@mossygreen Fulfilled for a mere eight bucks!
@ruouttaurmind I know! It’s crazy!
@mossygreen I love purple.
@PurplePawprints huh? I never heard about that. How does a car seat affect the airbags?
@PurplePawprints
Good seat covers often now have breakaway seams for seat airbags.
@cengland0 My last few cars have had airbags in the seats and say specifically not to use any kind of covers. @djslack and @mbimeh may be right that these might be okay, but I haven’t ever wanted to risk it (I’m worried that the straps might interfere or something).

@PurplePawprints air bags in the seat? Wouldn’t that just be called an ejector seat?
@PurplePawprints @aristan Hey, thanks for that info. Now that I think of it, my car is probably one of them that has something in the seats because it does have side airbags. Either it drops from just above the door or out from the seat – or both.

Drain. The. Swamp.
“Happeseat”… I’m sure a trademark attorney is responsible for that spelling.
@awk They should have gone for Happeeseat, for the theme of Meh’s copy.
I’d hate to see the seats being covered that will consider this to be an improvement
@norman8 You have not yet seen then my daughter’s car after and an18 mo, 3 and 4 year old consume food in there and/or get in after walking through mud
@Kidsandliz Try a dog seat protector. Spill proof, has slots for seat belt access.
@moondrake It is beyond too late for that car LOL
I’m tempted to buy the orange ones because they’re so cheap and I love orange. Damn these things are fucking ugly though. Maybe if they didn’t have the hideous logo.
@RiotDemon Drape a scarf over the top?
Three words:
MUPPET BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY
@mbimeh
/youtube muppet bohemian rhapsody
Be careful if your seat has side airbags.
@darkzrobe These “covers” have no sides. It only covers the top.
My vehicle is old, but not that old. Meh
I have an orange car. An orange car needs orange car seats. I have a happy!
/giphy I have a happy!
Can’t say I saw that one coming
That is terrifying!
Nope, nope, nope. 11% 1-star reviews on Amazon, many for the anti-slip backing disintegrating and leaving sand-grain-sized particles all over the interior of the car. Don’t need another cleanup generator.
@Jonas4321 but but but isn’t that what you bought one of the many vacs sold here for?
@Jonas4321 I think the reviewers are living in denial. In the pictures they posted it looks like their dandruff.
@phendrick EEEWWWWWW
No matching furry steering wheel cover?
Eff dat.

I would need a car seat cover cover to cover the ugliness of these covers.
LMAO for today’s copy.

Wish they would actually sell regular colors such as Black, Charcoal, Grey, Beige ect
If they had sold these in Charcoal Grey I would’ve bought a set
@AiraCobra What’s an “ect”?
@phendrick Oh, I found it on wikipedia: Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electroconvulsive_therapy, but they didn’t say anything about it coming in beige or any other colors.
@phendrick You can’t see the colors until after a few sessions.
@AiraCobra yeah, dirt cheap, unless you want a sorta decent color.
@phendrick “ect” is an interjection, coined by the Knights Who Say Ni while workshopping a new slogan.
@phendrick Ect is a mix between Hot Pink & Flamin’ Hot Cheetos
I bought something similar 10 years ago to put under the kids car seat so we would at least some barrier between the mess that comes from small children and the sponge of cloth seats. Did ok for a few years.
@JnKL I think this would be a good use for these, since the base of the car seat isn’t inserted and removed as often as the driver’s butt.
Bought these a while back. Backing disintegrates and ends up all over car. Tough to clean up. Save your money for something decent.
@keysbill ‘something decent’ is like a whole lot more. I bought the orange disintegrating covers to replace the black disintegrating covers now in the truck. The truck only gets used 10 times a year. is it possible to change my order to one set instead of two? order: numerous-crooked-blade
thanks,
russellmz
@russellmz Cancel it and re-order. (You can cancel for the next half hour or so at Meh.com/orders)
TFW it’s been four months since Meh offered anything you were actually interested in buying…
Ghastly.
Hang this backward to keep my kids dirty feet off the back of the seats?
Anyone try this?
@jml326 No kids, but I think it’d work.
"Soft microfiber wicks moisture away from you car seat."
What? I’m not driving naked. Am I missing something here? Are most people driving with no pants on and I haven’t noticed this?
@wew Yes. Sorry to have to tell you. I thought you knew…
@wew this guy is:
@djslack o.k. I guess I’ll be a banana and join the bunch.
