I’m always so hesitant any time you guys sell LED light strips, because you include pictures of like 5 different types of lights. At least this time the picture of the box is probably pretty reliable.
@mexicantacos the box shows it but every photo on their website shows solid colors. I tried looking at the app but it’s not great and doesn’t look like I can look at a device before I add it.
I kind of doubt it. I had ordered 2 but cancelled pending further research.
These aren’t what’s pictured in any of the photos or on the box. They aren’t RGBW and they aren’t addressable.
They’re cheapo RGB strips with a wifi controller soldered on. The white isn’t tunable and there is no diffusion so the red, green, and blue points stick out. The brightest setting is not very bright, so these aren’t suitable for, say, washing a ceiling in light. 5V USB power should have clued me in there.
I might enjoy trying to hack these and see what can be done with the wifi controller but I don’t need four sets for that.
You live and learn, I suppose.
Here’s a pic. I couldn’t dial the exposure back enough to show the color elements but you can see in the reflections on the spool that you see three distinct colors.

Can these be cut? I don’t see any cut lines in the pix.
@andrewkl Gabba Goods page says they can be cut.

@TuffGong Thanks. I ended up going to their site and saw that as well.
@andrewkl
Behold the cut lines
Sliceable connection lines
In the last picture
@andrewkl @replicacobra the pictures show a different kind of light strip in each photo.
@andrewkl @replicacobra sorry, let me rephrase.
The pictures show a
Different kind of light strip in
Each of the photos.

the community
is useful when it comes to
cutting edge matters
@djslack @replicacobra @snapster I’m just really pissed that everyone made cutting remarks in response to my inquiry…

Does it do rainbow mode?

@mexicantacos yes
@mexicantacos nope.
Does it work with Homebridge so I can use these with HomeKit and all my fruit company devices?

In for a bunch
@simtel20 It worked! Your order number is: restful-permissible-education

Bought three!
Is this Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, or Z-Wave?
@kshannon1 the linked item on gabba goods says wifi.
How are these powered? I presume it’s some sort of plug in but do they daisy chain?
Aha, I see on the Gabba Gabba Hey site that they are USB powered.
Are these on when right when you plug them in? Want to use them with a switch that turns them on when I open my closet.
Wondering the same thing
in for 2

also, “music mode” requires you to give the app permission to record audio and keep the phone on the screen with music control.
The good news is I’m sure interesting things can be done by interfacing with the wifi controller directly.
I just realized I haven’t even opened the boxes of these yet.
