@mythereal does Meh.com just EXPECT me to have two random spare cables in my house that I am supposed to find just sitting, WAITING around in some giant box of tangled, miscellaneous cables and other obscure, unknown electronic devices that’s in the corner of my closet under a rarely used keyboard and some empty shoe boxes?? Cause I don’t. Probably.
@Jurassic5@mythereal I have that box and it has lots of stuff. Dozens of USB chargers but not ones to feed these. How can it be a charger without a power supply?
@Jurassic5@mythereal@unksol
It says it’s a charging pad, not a charger. But it would be good if they said whether a cable was included, and if not, what kind was needed. A local store was pushing some pads really cheap because they came without cords, and only used Lightning. Over on Spamazon, the listing says “QI Certified to meet global standards for wireless charging, it comes with a USB-C cable (charging adapter sold separately).” Which means that unless you have a charging brick with a C port, or an adapter, you may find these wanting.
@Jurassic5@mythereal@unksol@werehatrack Good and the Bad of this deal:
Good: It (apparently) has USB-C input, so “the way of the future,” at least the near future. No mini or micro-USB here. Get with the times!
Bad: It uses the “new” USB-C input but doesn’t come with a supply or cable. Most of us have lots of chargers and cables in the aforementioned box (or all over the bedroom and dining room in my case). But few if any “extras” will be USB-C. Yes, you could use an old 5V 2A USB-A charger, but you’d still need a USB-A to USB-C cable. You probably already received one of those with your device purchase. But extra USB-C cables in the junk wire box (or household floor) – not likely. Ask me in a few years and by then I’ll have built up a collection of “new” cables.
@Jurassic5@mythereal@pmarin@werehatrack you are they correct however the hole thing about them becoming standard chargers never happened.maybe this time usbc
@Jurassic5@mythereal@pmarin@unksol@werehatrack@Jurassic5@mythereal@pmarin@unksol@werehatrack Well, turns out you didn’t need to worry about that. It’s not USB C, and it came with cables, but not the wall adapter. I have to say, I’m personally disappointed with this purchase. So many of these now a days you can use with a light case on your phone or tablet now, but not these, which means I’ll never use them. I put them right back in their boxes and into my “donate” box. If it didn’t say on Amazon that they are USB C, I would never have purchased them. That’s the part that made me think they were more in the modern age.
@Jurassic5@mythereal@pmarin@unksol@werehatrack Oh I knew they didn’t come with the wall adapter. I was talking about it not being type C. If I knew it was micro USB, I would have known that it also most likely wouldn’t charge through a case. “Meh” didn’t put the info one way or another. On Amazon it says that these are type C. I’m just gonna give them away.
How does it connect to power? Micro USB? USB-C? Mini USB? Tiny little coax plug? Two-pin header? Twin screw terminals? Molex connector? Miniature jumper cables? Double-tap wireless to wireless charge? (Now that would be a useless gadget, surprised I haven’t seen one yet… Adapt your rectangular wireless charger to a round one by placing this disk on top)
Base Material: 70% Other 5% Or Less, 15% Aluminum, 15% Rubber
Imma need my base to be made of at least 10% Or Less. I’m totally cool with 70% Other though. It is cool that this is 105% base, I just prefer 110% myself.
@djslack The lack of a comma suggests that these contain 70% “Other 5% or less” It’s left to us to determine what that is exactly. But that 5% is contained within the 70%.
Saw this last night, needed the sleep. Remembered to buy it now and only the orange color is left. Oh well, bought a few items that are Qi compatible so…
@gustador@phendrick oh yeah… this creepy thing. There’s a whole video on YouTube with a woman who “teaches the class”. No matter how many times one watches it…
@gustador@phendrick There were/are(?) more of these, but I didn’t do a deep search or anything just now. This seems to be a mix of 2 different ones. One of the original videos (my favorite) had more close up type shots of the dog’s faces in it, which made it even more bizarre. Maybe you can find the other videos. If so, I think it’s worth the watch.
@gustador@phendrick To me this is the good old days of YouTube in the 90’s, before there was any such thing as a “YouTube personality” or “influencer”.

So they do NOT come with the 5V/2A chargers. Got it.

But they make pretty coasters.
@Jurassic5 @mythereal @werehatrack just a USBC charging brick sold separately would be nice

@djslack Amazon link says USB-C.
Did you catch it’s described here as rechargable and battery powered?
@sflesch I did, but I felt I’d done enough with my first two comments.
Thanks for the research on the USB-C connection!
@djslack @sflesch It’s good to know that they’re packable at least. Otherwise how could they even be shipped out?
@djslack standard Deutsch connectors allowing for data and power transmission.
@djslack @fuzzmanmatt
/image centronics printer cable
/image 50 pin office phone connector
@djslack Googling the model number brings up a user manual and some FCC test data that both point to Micro USB.
@PooltoyWolf are you calling space king Jeff Bezos a liar?
I mean, you’re probably right, but yeah.
@djslack Hahahaha

@ciabelle ah, the reverse Oxford comma! Tricky!
@djslack
All your base are belong to it.
Hey, somebody was going to say it.
Mine literally just broke

Wow, almost as big as my NYC pad, and this one will charge my phone instead of draining my wallet.
There aren’t enough random orange dots in my house.

I must need sleep. I first read that as a two-pack of 10 weight Oil Changing pans.
That, I would have bought.

I never knew Qi was pronounced “chee”. The more you know…
@Jonas4321 What, you never had a Qis pizza in Chinatown?
@Jonas4321
And if you buy a §air, they’re Qip.
And now I know that putting a letter “p” in parens will code to the paragraph mark here.
@werehatrack except it gave you a silcrow instead of a pilcrow.
There’s a ¶air of these for §ale, Qip.
Anybody know if these will work on a Google Pixel 3XL? I know Pixels are fussy about which Qi pads they will work with.
@kggoodman
The Great Spamazon Font Of Everything They Want You To Know says “Yes”. If you trust that.
Will it charge the new Fire plus tablet? (Looks like just phones).
If I get 500 of these and a Tesla, can I charge it by parking it over them?
@werehatrack Yes
@werehatrack

@GrandmaLyn @werehatrack That said, stock is above 420. And that’s after a split, I think.
Either the worst job describing a product ever or the best job of concealing what isn’t included ever.
Well played, Meh.

Meh
Why is the background pic of a lightning connector if this is about wireless charging?
Do these have the ability to charge all devices that are chargeable, or only certain ones? How can you tell?
@werekong that depends on whether we’re talking spiritually, meta physically, or on a quantum level.
Worthless answer…not useful, funny, or clever…on any level.
@werekong So you rate it “meh”?
Be sure to withhold your tip.
Doesn’t even rise to “meh”…sub-“meh”
@werekong Relax, let your Qi guide you to the answers you seek.
Also, the little arrow that swoops up and to the left replies to a comment.
First time I’ve ever chuckled at the terrible joke. Congrats, @meh.

@gustador ?? What kind of dream is that giphy from?
@phendrick I don’t know, but I’m a bit scared to sleep tonight
@gustador @phendrick oh yeah… this creepy thing. There’s a whole video on YouTube with a woman who “teaches the class”. No matter how many times one watches it…
@GirlPleeeeze @gustador Well! Got a link for it?

@GirlPleeeeze @gustador Thanks! I’ll fortify with a drink, then watch tonight.
@GirlPleeeeze @gustador Here’s a YouTube playlist of several of them; maybe the one you like is among them.https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=nagi+noda+poodle
Comments say the dog heads/faces were added by CGI and performers were children.
