@G1 bluetooth mangles music… the way around this is either aptx or aac… starting with bluetooth 4.2 many devices started supporting aac… bluetooth over aac sounds decent… still a slight degradation but nothing as bad as the standard bluetooth audio (SBC)
tl;dr: 4.2 with aac is when it started sounding tolerable, just hoping meh will start getting that crap to sell
@thismyusername See how little I know? LOL To keep down the cases of “I wants” I deliberately try not to keep up. Helps. Somewhat. Of course then if I ever have money I will have massive amounts of research to do… but I will worry about that later.
@savedme Can’t find any either, but found other, similar wireless speakers from the same company and the ratings are terrible. The bluetooth serms to barely work on them.
@applsauce33 Well, since I’ve already learned learned my lesson 8-9 times regarding no reviews, I’m gonna pass for now based on what you found. thank you
I like how the buttons on the back have icons printed on them indicating their fairly straightforward functions paired with text right next to them explicitly spelling out said functions. I bet there’s a paragraph or two in the manual that explains what each button does as well.
@Thumperchick I ordered a beauty box from Target- I like the little nice smelling shampoos and lotions. It came with a “cell renew snail hydro-gel mask”. Nope, not gonna use it.
@RiotDemon I tried some kind of tomato charcoal mud mask from a beauty box and bought some. I have a feeling my winter skin won’t like it but it was nice in summer.
@sammydog01 Millions of people drink cow and goat’s milk. There are thousands of milk based skin care products. Why not Donkey? Or Zoidberg?
/giphy Why not Zoidberg?
@Kidsandliz in the app you can link a pair together and specify which plays right channel and which plays left channel when using them as WiFi speakers. In Bluetooth mode you can only play to one of them.
I really want to reverse engineer this protocol and make one of the speakers or a separate device work as a streamer with live input through line in or Bluetooth that then sends to all the others for whole house audio from any source. But there’s that whole time factor. And the necessary delay would be annoying for things like tv, but it would be nice to be able to play the audio from a game on TV out back by the grill or in the garage.
@Kidsandliz Yeah, if I or someone else did that it would just add to the capabilities they have. Right now they only play whatever comes through the app in WiFi mode.
They also should work as airplay targets from your Mac.
@djslack If you search the Google play store for “Big Mo App” you will see an app that is the same system as the QUE and QFX WiFi speakers offered earlier…so it should sync with them.
That said, these are extremely tiny 4"x4 and light with no specifications for power/driver size, etc. So, probably sound not great to very bad.
@Durago redirects plus amplify effect because of waves reverberate(?) In small closure before release just like old gramophone. C 4 yourself. Do not over-expect. What you get is what you pay for is true in this case. At least you will not be over paying and save $54.
Honest question… is BEM still a functioning company? I ask because their website store has been “CLOSED FOR MAINTAINENCE” for quite awhile, and there are a large number of their products I’ve seen lately that have no reviews.
I really like BEM, and have about three or four of their speakers. It’d be a shame to see them go under.
At first I was all like “Oh well - another crappy BEM audio device that no one else could sell.” - and then I saw those FREE sound wedges and now I’m all like “Meh.”.
/giphy "confused travolta"
Finally broke my meager 36 day button record today. I don’t know why I care or why you are even reading this. Now I can go back to not caring about that damn button or the crap they are selling here.
Okay. Yeah. See you tomorrow. I will probably click the button and more than likely I will get to keep my money since there will be some crappy product for sale.
@meauxfaux I don’t have these but my other linkplay speakers will act as airplay speakers. I haven’t seen anything with Alexa other than using them with a dot either through bt or aux, which doesn’t get you whole house music through linkplay itself.
Thanks! So I have 5 of the Que speakers I got on Yugster super cheap (like $15 each) and the “main” one that is the subnet connection point will show up on my iPhone under airplay. Problem is, nothing will play via airplay. I think it’s down to the Linkplay firmware version, which is reported to be older on my speakers. I would bet that since these Meh speakers are “officially supported” by Linkplay, that that wouldn’t be an issue here.
I’m vaguely tempted, but honestly, I hate to say it, but I just want a normal, run of the mill speaker dock with aux in. I’ve got one of the JBL On Beat Micros from back during speaker dock Fridays hooked up to an Echo Dot and it’s perfect! Just picked up another Echo Dot, and now I need a speaker for it… doesn’t need to be battery powered, hell, I don’t WANT it to be battery powered because that’s one more thing to fail.
Sometimes I regret NOT buying things on Meh, and get disappointed when said items don’t make their way to Morningsave. For example, when the 43 and 40" 4k monitors came around, I was like “man, that’s exactly what I’ve been looking for, but it’s a little rich for my blood…” Fast forward a few weeks and I’m still kicking myself for not pulling the trigger.
Oh well, all I can hope is that these deals come around again!
@smigit2002 https://morningsave.com/events/bem-wireless-audio-3
I own the Strum- pretty nice. I ordered the range for my dot, hoping it will be even better. They have batteries but if you just leave them plugged in that should be pretty much the same. Plus cheaper.
I’m sad to report, these just suck. I had three potential uses for these:
Expansion speakers for media center tv in kitchen.
—> to be fair, I should have realized these required an app and wouldn’t work with a PC, so this was naive of me.
Basement speaker replacement for the $15 plug-in computer speakers I have to actually plug my phone into to play on.
—> I figured the many WiFi/Bluetooth options would get the job done in stereo, but stereo requires the app and the app doesn’t work with Subsonic nor YouTube Music.
Aux-in replacement for the $10 speakers I currently have connected to my turntable.
—> they sound worse than ten dollar speakers. They can’t compare with a subwoofer. Granted, it was $10 at a garage sale, but this was 7 years ago.
3/10, would not buy again. I’ve got two spare Bluetooth speakers now. Meh, next cabin weekend, I’ll have nearly unlimited Bluetooth speaker time.
@jhinra Did Pandora come up on the app for you? I cant get it to show Pandora for me. I uninstalled Pandora and Re installed it and nothing! Says works with Pandora, but not from what I can see.

Big Mo? Who told you?!
:goldcoin:
Is it Tuesday already?
@Euniceandrich It’s Satuesday.
@Thumperchick SunTuesday? TueSunday?
@sligett Suesday!
I do not like speakers and ham
Wait… that’s Suessian Day, not Suesday…
Three sold already? For $25 per speaker? Daylight savings time is tripping people out already.
@jake5snooze $26 per speaker.
@Thumperchick 27!
@ELUNO I was hoping someone would get there.
@Thumperchick $29.50 (without VMP)
@djslack @Thumperchick @jake5snooze
Going once, going twice, sold!
I must have that sound wedge!
Big Mo? Big Meh.
Great transition…candy corn to speakers
How long until places start dumping bluetooth 4.2 with AAC support items… cause… ya know… the mangle.
…at least these have wifi and aux in… but how to use the wifi part…
/me goes and waits for the deluge of BT4.2withAAC devices.
@thismyusername What?
Is there an issue with BT4.2 and AAC? (the mangle??)
Speak American!
@thismyusername I am sure they will once the improvement for 4.2 with aac is available.
@Kidsandliz it is! bluetooths 5.0 is here!
now bring on the good sounding bluetooths!
@thismyusername See how little I know? LOL To keep down the cases of “I wants” I deliberately try not to keep up. Helps. Somewhat. Of course then if I ever have money I will have massive amounts of research to do… but I will worry about that later.
This is Groucho

Any chance these work with any of the apps for the other WiFi speakers that have come through the Meh chute?
Are there really zero customer reviews on the Amazon link for these?
@Lister It’s like direct to DVD movies. Skip that whole first stage of selling. Straight to meh.
@Lister I can’t find a SINGLE review on a search of more than 10 web sites that “sell” this item. Any luck?
@savedme Can’t find any either, but found other, similar wireless speakers from the same company and the ratings are terrible. The bluetooth serms to barely work on them.
@applsauce33 Well, since I’ve already learned learned my lesson 8-9 times regarding no reviews, I’m gonna pass for now based on what you found. thank you

Direct from Morningsave… I thought it was supposed to work the other way around. Next we’ll be seeing that moisturizer with snail slime.
@sammydog01 Bee Venom
@Thumperchick I distinctly remember snail slime. And being disgusted.
@sammydog01
ಠ_ಠ
@Thumperchick I ordered a beauty box from Target- I like the little nice smelling shampoos and lotions. It came with a “cell renew snail hydro-gel mask”. Nope, not gonna use it.
@sammydog01
@Thumperchick And… the Walmart beauty box is trying some one-upmanship. Not sure which is more disgusting. Probably the snail slime.
@sammydog01 I just got mine too. I looked at it and just said “donkey milk?”
Kinda strange, but it’s not much different than cows milk.
@RiotDemon
/giphy I beg to differ
Nice giphy!
@sammydog01 maybe I’ll try it tonight and let you know how I feel tomorrow.
@sammydog01 what did you think of the perfume samples?
@RiotDemon I’m not really a perfume or makeup person. That said they smelled nice. Maybe I should spray some in my sock drawer.
@RiotDemon I tried some kind of tomato charcoal mud mask from a beauty box and bought some. I have a feeling my winter skin won’t like it but it was nice in summer.
@sammydog01 I thought the one smelled like typical old lady perfume. Maybe I’m super sensitive to the musk smell.
@sammydog01 Millions of people drink cow and goat’s milk. There are thousands of milk based skin care products. Why not Donkey? Or Zoidberg?
/giphy Why not Zoidberg?
Not even 30 minutes into the start of this sale, searching for the model number brought up this exact page…
Seriously, there is no information at all about these things anywhere on the Internet.
@minuette just tells you that they belong here, really
@minuette It’s a conspiracy! Someone has scrubbed the Internet of any and all information about these speakers!
So these aren’t stereo - you can just have up to 6 of them going at once? Correct?
@Kidsandliz front page says they can do stereo
@Kidsandliz in the app you can link a pair together and specify which plays right channel and which plays left channel when using them as WiFi speakers. In Bluetooth mode you can only play to one of them.

@uninflammable Well I skimmed the manual and obviously skimmed even faster the front page LOL
@djslack I guess I am not geek enough to know how to do stuff like that. I am in the target market of those who need/want ready made solutions LOL
@Kidsandliz Yeah, if I or someone else did that it would just add to the capabilities they have. Right now they only play whatever comes through the app in WiFi mode.
They also should work as airplay targets from your Mac.

This original MSave listing has more info and a link to the user manual.
How many wattage? Not mentioned - oversight or most probably not worth mentioning.
@givemehdeal I never thought of this - does it work?
@Durago It wouldn’t actually make your phone able to put out louder sound in general. All it does is redirect where your phone’s sound is going.
@Durago It works but doesn’t sound that great at all.
@Durago redirects plus amplify effect because of waves reverberate(?) In small closure before release just like old gramophone. C 4 yourself. Do not over-expect. What you get is what you pay for is true in this case. At least you will not be over paying and save $54.

@dave is all business
@Ignorant I think that’s because his job is the business version of herding cats. Cats that make pube jokes and are easily…
:GOLDCOIN:
Pretty sure they would sell more if it was 1 for $27 instead of 2 for $54
@Furbdog 2 for $25 and I’m in.
This is just big meh charging us $54 for wedges to correct our Quirky ohm bluetooth charger pad.
Geezzzeee…
Who uses Slack when Discord exists?
@UnguidedSALT :slackers:
At first I was all like “Oh well - another crappy BEM audio device that no one else could sell.” - and then I saw those FREE sound wedges and now I’m all like “Meh.”.

Meh is selling Wedgies. Hee hee
Can of ginger ale: for size comparison, or “pairing?”
Not a very Mo-tivatated sale, but Bem’s the breaks.
Haha, speakers.
Finally broke my meager 36 day button record today. I don’t know why I care or why you are even reading this. Now I can go back to not caring about that damn button or the crap they are selling here.

Can an existing subwoofer be used with these?
I’m thinking this could pair nicely with my Google Home Mini, maybe have more robust sound.
I have Never had much success with BEM products. So, A BIG MEH For Me.
@Brasssong I would buy one of those.
I need these, but would throw out the speakers and use the shims -er- wedges to prop up my Quirky magnetic charging stand that just arrived yesterday.
$106.70 each with Prime https://www.amazon.com/Bem-Bluetooth-Wireless-Definition-Expandable/dp/B01G62PSMK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1509901055&sr=8-1&keywords=bem+wireless+big+mo
if there were only some way to turn off the horrible TOP OF VOLUME chimes these speakers give when the bluetooth connection comes on.
holy fuck.
also, they kind of suck for stuff that is low volume or has gaps, turning the audio on and off.
Are these linkplay? Would they integrate with all the other linkplay speakers out there?
If so, Has anyone been able to integrate linkplay with alexa or Apple Music yet?
@meauxfaux Yep, these are linkplay! Listed here: http://linkplay.com/featured-products/
@meauxfaux I don’t have these but my other linkplay speakers will act as airplay speakers. I haven’t seen anything with Alexa other than using them with a dot either through bt or aux, which doesn’t get you whole house music through linkplay itself.
