Made of flame retardant material ABS able to withstand high temperatures. ABS plastic is opaque thermoplastic characterized by resistance to chemicals, heat, and impact.
Multi outlets are great but it’s best when they have a center screw that fixes the outlet to the wall, so the whole thing doesn’t pull out of the underlying socket when you try to unplug one cord. So I’d hold out for one with a screw.
The picture of the back shows a hole in the right place for a support screw, but there is no hole in the front.
I suspect that the original engineer included the long screw in the design, and someone in marketing took it out.
You might be able to use a drill to complete that hole and use your own screw to securely mount the unit to the wall. Or, I might be wrong, and the screw hole will be close enough to a live conductor so an arc forms in the unit and you will inadvertently test the flame resistance of the ABS plastic.
@hamjudo Looks to me that the middle hole is for a screw holding the box together (along with the four corner screws).
If this is the case, then your suggestion gains more credence: The existing screw (if it’s there) is already clear of internal connectors, and replacing it with a mounting screw from the front should still duplicate its functionality.
Four-outlet extenders (with or without USB plugs) aren’t that expensive to begin with, so this isn’t much of a deal. You can easily find inexpensive models with better features, such as wider spacing of the plugs, surge protection, built-in circuit breakers, etc.
This is perfect for the hydroponic vegetable garden I’m setting up in my basement! A plug for the fans, a plug for the grow LEDs, and plugs for the two pumps, all running off the extension cord with this on the end. Not to mention I can charge my phone while I tend and harvest or power a smaller USB fan off it for the smaller radish microgreen beds nearby.
@steamwolf FWIW my understanding is that the fire code (in my area) says that you should not connect one temporary power tap like this to another temporary power tap like an extension cord.
@GLaDOS@steamwolf In my area, I can legally daisy chain extension cords in a residence, but not in a business. Or rather, not legally in a business. It happens all of the time.
@GLaDOS@hamjudo@steamwolf Yeah… a better choice would be one of the “power strips” with integrated cord, and built-in USB charge ports. There are a bunch from reputable companies like APC, with varying cord lengths 4’ - 15’. There are also a bunch of no-name ones for sale on the A company, but those are YMMV. I try to stick with the known brands and you can get pretty good stuff for $15-$30 (for 1) with a long cord included. and easy to mount to a wall if you need…
I’d add to the comments evaluating this but between the poor USPS service combined with worse DHL ineptitude, I’m still waiting … and waiting … and waiting. Maybe in a few more months.

First! Now, G’nite. ZzZZz
@hammi99 I bet your mom is so proud of you.
@hammi99 @yakkoTDI I’m a mom and I’m proud of both of you. Be extra nice to yourselves today and remember to drink water.
@imzadi22 Yes mom.
/giphy drink water
Look nice, but don’t need.
@rmeden this is so much of meh
@courteousblock yes, but still would have removed all regret from my last two irks… (heck, almost anything useful would have)
Finally something I could use! Would have been nice if it had someway to attach it to the wall plug so it would not pull out
@glarue handyman’s best friend - duct tape!
Remember, I’m pullin’ for ya. We’re all in this together.
@glarue Yes, I have a Belkin one and you remove the wall plate and it screws to attach it where the wall plate normally does. Makes it very secure.
@ybmuG And if all else fails play dead, lol.
@glarue I didn’t pull out, and now I have two kids.
@glarue My thoughts exactly. Would have gone for it otherwise.
@glarue double sided foam mounting tape should handle that, unless you are trying to remove it lol.
@Commonwealth109 @glarue then you just stab it with a fork until it comes off. what could go wrong?
@VinnyV
OH MY GOD THEY CHARGED GLEN!!!
@shahnm To be fair he was looking a little run down.
@shahnm @yakkoTDI You’d think he’d have enough Mophie powerbanks around to stay charged, though…
EDIT: wait, are we sure it’s a “he?”
I have like 10 of these. Non of them are only 2.1. Mine are all 3.7 or higher. This would take 9 hours to charge a phone and 18 hrs to tablet
@bugger Thanks! Came here wondering if these were strong enough.
@bugger yep 2.1 is why I passed

@phr came to say this

But I’m still out.
USB-A plugs is not planning for the future!
@pmcgrane that’s why it’s for sale here!
Good price, and I have a few of these, but the plug sockets are just too close together. Hard to get more than two plugs in there…
/giphy nope

One for the guest room; one for the garage; YES! Score!
We have a camper that sits in a campground all year, and it’s always a hassle to remember our phone/ipad chargers. These will finally solve that!
@sheepguy42 Only if you remember USB cables, lol.

For a few bucks more, I could get outlets on the side for reduced wire volume. But it’s a few bucks more…

weird
@compunaut Yeah, weird. I’m not tasting the oregano. Perhaps smoking it?

@mfearing As noted under the specs:
So it should be arriving within a week from now.
