Local authorities in Augsburg, Bavaria, have installed special lights at pedestrian crossings which make life safer for mobile phone users who are slow to tear themselves away from their screen before crossing the street.
Rather than having to look up to check the lights at the crossing, "smombies" (a German neologism of "smartphone" and "zombie"), need only check the special LED lights which have been installed in the road surface, Sputnik Germany reported.
Hm. I think I need these for my work desk for days when the other lighting isn't quite cutting it. I get so much more done when I'm exposed to bright lights... Think the base is flexible enough to wrap it around my head for use on the futon with my laptop? :P
@Dbaker641 So, plug it into one of the charging packs that you may have previously purchased on Meh. There you go. A completely portable reading light.
@Dbaker641 Not an issue, just add a regular car battery, some jumper cables, an inverter, and a USB charger plug. Bundle it all up with some elastic cord and you have a portable lighting solution!
@RedOak it also puts out 1.6 watts of light. I'm not sure watt that means. But at 500mAh per hour (let's divide out that pesky time unit) of power consumption, we're losing .9 watts somewhere in the system. That's significant inefficiency or heat production from low power leds.
Rather it's the unconventional way to rate current needs of a USB power drawing device. Normally power supplies (wall chargers or laptop ports one would use to power this lamp) are rated in current supplying capability at a point in time (mA), not over time (mAh).
Current over time (mAh) is normally a USB battery storage capacity measure isn't it?
@kfetty Take two of your hundreds of old USB wall chargers and convert these into AC-powered desk lights. Or plug them into a couple of your USB battery packs and convert them into battery-powered lights.
Fasten these to a hat or helmit,power them with a notebook in your backpack and go for a midnight walk around your neighborhood making loud buzzing sounds.
this model number might actually take up more space than the actual product
But how much space, figuratively speaking, compared to the actual product? And how much actual space does the model number take up relative to the figurative product?
It just doesn't make any sense to stop at actual space of random alphanumerics relative to actual product volume. Lazy, beginner's move. Sheesh.
Havent bought any items going on 3 months but tonite i had to grap a cpl seems like a good deal will use these to highlight plants using a charging pack
@stinks not grow lights just to light the plants at nite like a show peice actually just bought two more as gifts i dont think they will be around in the morning quick sellout predicted here
@KDemo Life has just been... Nuts this year. Got promoted at work, added a bunch of responsibility. Ren faire season getting ready to start, etc. Just haven't had a lot of free time.
Heh heh...The brief and terse one star review on Amazon claimed: "Cheap...returned it!!" Hey now,...I say..."even Cheaper and therefore I'm in for two tonight"
As a professional and lifelong student abroad I find these perfect for home, office or business use while traveling, studying, reading and more!!!
I love the modern design that utilizes a fully adjustable flex-neck and head to achieve the perfect lighting position!!!! I find the lamp folds flat to become a great travel companion and I find the optimized color temperature and a cooling touch ensure comfortable lighting for reading and other activities!!!!
I got 3 in silver and was sure to get VMP because you can't really get a better value than VMP!!!!!
Is this bluetooth ? Pretty sure a dim bulb is involved somewhere? How about helicopter blades? Do they burn? You meh warriors can look forward to about 500 of these in your next fuku.
My kid is going off to college soon so something cheap and small for his tiny dorm room....I wanted black - but the college color is red - so this kinda works
since they listed the brightness in watts, i am assuming they mean it is a "1.5 watt equivalent" brightness (about 13 lumens). however, if they mean the led actually consumes 1.5 watts (more likely), then it might produce as much as 100 lumens (10 watt equivalent). either way, too dim for my taste outside a night-light application.
Impulse shopper, so red is all they allowed me to pick during checkout, it was way to late to change my mind. I was forced to buying red, not fair. Hopefully, you guys have other crap that isn't red.
Verdict: Nope. Not flexible. FOLDABLE, more like. I was thinking it'd be good to wrap around the desk leg on a space I don't have room for a real desk lamp. Ah well.

Shed some light on this meh deal
Speaking of shedding some light ...

Watt -- another bright idea
@AttyVette I see watt you did there.
Is it dimmable?
@MehnofLaMehncha Dimmable lamp features 8 dimmable LEDs that dim because they're dimmable
@Conklaven
Says its USB ... but doesn't say how many gigabytes or megahertz.
Lightening connector? Windows phone compatible?
@Conklaven
But does that mean dimmable?
@MehnofLaMehncha "Lightening"… man, what a lame typo…
WAIT A SECOND. I see what you did there.
@haydesigner
The difference between lightning and a lightning bug ...
@MehnofLaMehncha That would be awesome... Who needs speaker docks when you have Lighting Dock!
No purple?
And what do professional contractors say about it?
@MehnofLaMehncha I love purple.
@MehnofLaMehncha
I cant see my way on this one.
Dull dual downer, aka, Meh
Aw, they're cute. But I already have five little USB touch lamps. I'm pretty sure that's enough.
@Pony
Not if your goal is starting a fire
I've got a $0.50 version of this I got from some Chinese ebayer and it was cool. Worth the $0.50 and 4 week wait but 5 clams is another story
Hm. I think I need these for my work desk for days when the other lighting isn't quite cutting it. I get so much more done when I'm exposed to bright lights... Think the base is flexible enough to wrap it around my head for use on the futon with my laptop? :P
@Jamileigh17 says "flexible." Worth a shot
Not a charging pack or battery powered, meh.
@Dbaker641 So, plug it into one of the charging packs that you may have previously purchased on Meh. There you go. A completely portable reading light.
@Dbaker641 But it can be battery powered if you connect it to a charging pack!
@Dbaker641 Not an issue, just add a regular car battery, some jumper cables, an inverter, and a USB charger plug. Bundle it all up with some elastic cord and you have a portable lighting solution!
@awk but how do you keep the car battery charged? dont u need a car to go with it?
Trying to wrap my head around those units. "500mA", I'd get. But "500mAh"?
Does it stop working after it has consumed 500mAh of juice?
@RedOak it also puts out 1.6 watts of light. I'm not sure watt that means. But at 500mAh per hour (let's divide out that pesky time unit) of power consumption, we're losing .9 watts somewhere in the system. That's significant inefficiency or heat production from low power leds.
@RedOak Yup, there's a little plug on the bottom to drain the used electrons once it fills up.
@RedOak 1.6W/5V = 320 milliamperes
Sounds about right
@sparkyfarad The "500" value isn't the odd part.

I was literally pushing the "BUY, DAMMIT" button before I realized they were USB powered. Ah well.
(I may be the only one in the world who wants one, but I'd LOVE an outdoor reading lamp, Meh! [And no, that doesn't mean a lantern.])
@haydesigner you got one of those USB batteries in previous meh deals? Pair that with this lamp and you got USB reading light wherever you go.
I'm the first one to complain that mini-USB can suck it?
Meh. My USB ports are already too full.
@Dizavid So agree!
@kfetty Take two of your hundreds of old USB wall chargers and convert these into AC-powered desk lights. Or plug them into a couple of your USB battery packs and convert them into battery-powered lights.

Yo! Light output is NOT measured in watts. Light output is measured in lumens. Power input is measured in watts. So how many lumens do these produce?
@ellett I like both the content of this comment and the fact that it starts with a hearty "Yo!"
@ellett
Watt are you talking about? When Meh gives you lumens, make lumenade!
@djslack Just like Yo Mama!
@mike808 Well we can see their mother produced at least one dim bulb.
@mcanavino I'll thank you not to talk about my brother that way; you don't even know him!
@ellett
Watt, lumens? Yo!
It's got a bluetooth speaker built in right?
@Conklaven That's version 2.0, after the Bem acquisition. This was the earlier initial release.
@Conklaven Screw the Bluetooth speakers... We want it to have a lightning port to charge our iphones :)
"chewing gum stays inside your gut for seven years"
What!!!! It doesn't? Well what is the time frame....like...five years? Or ten? Please tell me, o meh scientist...
How many lumens?...I mean if I get a USB hub and hook up four of them, will I be blinded?
But how much space, figuratively speaking, compared to the actual product? And how much actual space does the model number take up relative to the figurative product?
It just doesn't make any sense to stop at actual space of random alphanumerics relative to actual product volume. Lazy, beginner's move. Sheesh.
Havent bought any items going on 3 months but tonite i had to grap a cpl seems like a good deal will use these to highlight plants using a charging pack
@mellowirishgent Yeah Holmes, the plants need some grow lights, Holmes.
@stinks not grow lights just to light the plants at nite like a show peice actually just bought two more as gifts i dont think they will be around in the morning quick sellout predicted here
What color temp are these?... K?
I'll settle for knowing if these are Warm White or Cool White...
And yes, how many lumens?
Picked up a pair to plug into RaspberryPi to light up 3d printer.
Oh, and Bogie is back.(though you all probably had no idea i was away)
@Bogie - It's about time! Now, don't go away again, you made us worry.
(Were you on the Renaissance Faire tour?)
@KDemo Life has just been... Nuts this year. Got promoted at work, added a bunch of responsibility. Ren faire season getting ready to start, etc. Just haven't had a lot of free time.
@Bogie Congrats on the promotion! Hope it's rewarding and not too stressful. Glad to see you here when you can make it.
@Bogie
Bought these. Cause red. Cause cute.
I am stupid.
@f00l Are they Georgia Red?
@jqubed
Not sure. Seem pretty red to me, but am more familiar with burnt orange.
APB
Our shill is missing.
Quick, everyone cancel VMP!
Bah, Black sold out fast...
Heh heh...The brief and terse one star review on Amazon claimed:
"Cheap...returned it!!"
Hey now,...I say..."even Cheaper and therefore I'm in for two tonight"
twisted-screeching-tinkerbell said "Jeez Louise, MEH, 45 minutes in and all the black ones are gone?"
Meh. My main light source comes from the fires I set to all the docking speakers I purchased.
@huja you are just burning money man... you should sell them to @sohmageek
Do I really want to tie up USB ports for lights?
@jqubed Grab a usb power adapter you're not using and plug it into the wall

@cshillaber
How well do these work in sex dungeons?
Is this bluetooth ?
Pretty sure a dim bulb is involved somewhere?
How about helicopter blades?
Do they burn?
You meh warriors can look forward to about 500 of these in your next fuku.
Bias lighting on the cheap? Meh.
Black Sold out? My Tuesday is done. Just saved $10.00!!!!
@mdrcoast same here......evidently black is not back........
studious-obscene-bite
My kid is going off to college soon so something cheap and small for his tiny dorm room....I wanted black - but the college color is red - so this kinda works
@richmondhokie I would expect a photo like that from a Hokie.
California buys soooooo much crap...
If anyone wants matching(ish)-color USB cables, these were well-reviewed on The WireCutter. http://www.amazon.com/EZOPower-Micro-USB-Charge-Samsung-Powered/dp/B00DV2P1BW?
only red now... Whew... dodged another one...

oh, and if you are looking for night lights, i recommend these: ENLPLPAT2
Would these work with the Chromebooks sold here recently?
@ronnyd Yes.
@ronnyd No
@ronnyd from the specs:
@RedOak Meh.
OK, but is it rebrightable?
On the fuckit theory, I bought a heartbroken-hilarious-antelope, although I'm running Win 7. It sorta looks like this:
or maybe this:
I think your mother was on drugs-I wish mine was!
Impulse shopper, so red is all they allowed me to pick during checkout, it was way to late to change my mind. I was forced to buying red, not fair. Hopefully, you guys have other crap that isn't red.
Wise words couldn't say it beeter! or better?
Didn't expect these to sell out.
Thank god to all ya impulse buyers, my finger twitched but I was able to persevere.
Red, red. Pee the bed. Wipe it up with jelly bread......
Verdict: Nope. Not flexible. FOLDABLE, more like. I was thinking it'd be good to wrap around the desk leg on a space I don't have room for a real desk lamp. Ah well.
So… I got a very limited amount of these… I loved them… Anyone have a similar item to recommend other than buying it at inflated Amazon prices?
