@lichme You know how long those take to write? Like several minutes....haha. Too bad Meh wont give me the inside scoop on Twofer days, could be fun to play around with the product involvement a bit more. Alas, Meh hates me as my loyalty and interest is but a game for them to toy with my emotions.
Well fuck. Yet again we find ourselves at the corner of impulsivity and temptation as we near that janky ass pawn shop on the wrong end of town. As we near the alley we can't help but feel that we are being watched. Within the darkness a hooded figure can be seen as a few rays of light enter in from the corner street light. "I saw you coming, you can never hide from me. I know all, I see all, I am all powerful." As Twofer Tuesday emerges from the shadows her laughter grows, that dirty temptress knows no shame. Well Twofer, you've got this place pretty well under your thumb....but thats about it. How about you take your power trip and shove it where the sun don't shine...but don't worry you'll still know where you are at because these mother fuckers have night vision.
If these are anything like the 2.0 ones they sold last time....
use the manual setup, that QR thing of theirs doesn't work well (if at all)
they are not great in low light
but... if you want a tiny camera to place in random locations that will alert you to motion or sound... they are pretty good.
You can't really download the footage (no way that I have found so far), you have to see the video on the app (no web interface like nest/dropcam)... but you will get alerted when something is up.
I am using these in situations with low alerts (well lit, quiet etc)... I have not run into the "daily limits" that keep showing up in reviews.
Do you have to have the app monitoring your video to record events, or is there an sd card slot? I don't see that anywhere in the specs, but it refers to recording events.
@djslack yea these are not dropcams or even foscams... but as far as live monitors go... if you are inside the same network they are great little monitor units... and if you off network they are decent but force you to re-fresh every 5 mins.
@djslack want to clarify, it sends "alerts" to the cloud... you can also hit 'record' in the app while monitoring to record things to the cloud... but there is no local storage.
I got my Izon View Streams everything that I see I want detection of motion .. endlessly I can't get over you Your app notified me I want detection of motion .. endlessly
Cause it's a good deal and you know it You save five bucks with VMP Cause it's a good deal and you know it You can buy at most three
Just hold on we're going home Just hold on we're going home Saw those burglars on my phone Just hold on we're going home
@LDBrandhorst so if i want to see my cat wake up from a nap, probably not a bad deal, but if i want to show the police to ID a cat-burglar, not so much?
I purchased these last time they were on offer and I was dissapointed. When using the audio/video monitoring the webcam will turn on when it detects motion... but they only allow you to do 30 second clips at a rate of 10 per day, or something stupid. there is no way to opt for a premium account or allow for enhanced functionality. I haven't found a way to hack apart the hardware to add my own server functionality, so it will collect dust on my shelf indefinitely.
The only thing it's sort-of good for is the fact you can stream the video from your smartphone using the app, even works outside the home. But slow framerate and poor quality work against you
signed in just to meh... and vent... the only mitigation is at $34 each, one approaches disposability, which is where these are destined in weeks, months, maybe a year or two for diehards (if that's a disposable price point to you).
Biggest bones: while offsite stream/storage is a good secondary in a proper monitoring setup, this system appears to offer neither ownership of video, or true control of dissemination. Once STEM fails or dumps the cloud, these cams have no home to phone. I'd be impressed if there were a linux/win facility one could run to act as a private server. Similar gripe with newer-gen Dlink cloud cams and mydlink ::shudder:: -- does nobody consider security & backdoors?
QVGA 320x240 = little ident capability, unless positioned in a narrow trapway to guaranty subject proximity. No local storage, nor archival, makes this a slow snapchat.
If you limit expectations to a quick & dirty proof of concept or casual snoop/surveil uses, I credit meh for making this a less expensive lesson than the evil AMZN.
Not an owner of these, but a decade of experience with Dlink & others in a 6+ unit self-hosted setup for work, and general lover of monitoring stuff.
@cengland0 Does anyone have some insight on which is the better of the two? Last night my wife asked me to get some new wifi baby monitors and now this morning, i have options galore. Nobody seems thrilled with these, but I've never purchased (or setup) wifi cameras before
@rjanecek2 Sorry, not me. All my cameras are 1080p and are wired. The only Wifi ones are some old Android phones I have setup to use Trackview app to view my pet bird while I'm away. It is not for security.
Anyone can explain for me: Photos of product box at amazon is: Show a White iphone. But at MEH, photos is show a black iphone. Why is difference? Do they is same product?
@phutraining the model numbers are WRM-WA3-00 and WRM-BA3-00, although it looks like the amazon pages are having some issues. but I agree, there may be a slight image mix-up here.
Is it coincidence or is Woot! actually attempting to compete with Meh? If so I find that quite flattering to Meh. And, oh yea, screw Woot! Woot Fascom offering
I'm confused or missing something. It states "Motion and noise detection start 5 seconds before the event". So these cameras are so good they know 5 seconds before the motion or sound occurs to turn on.
@ArcaneOracle Different sellers. Yours is shipped and sold by BLING and my default one was sold by "Eyes to See" and fulfilled by Amazon. I even went to the other sellers and didn't see the one you are showing.
I bought the IZON cams from early that are not night-vision. They are horrible. The app is horrible. The fact that they don't move on their own is horrible.
Dammit. I'm not that old, but I'm old enough to not know what these do. I think I need these, or at lease I could have a lot of fun with these, but I'm clueless. Lemme read the comments again, 'Sigh'.
The quality of the video isn't the best but taking still shots is pretty good. All in all, the cameras work well for the price and are also way cheaper than installing a security system with monitors. And that's in laymans terms.

@studerc TLDR
@lichme Haters gonna hate. :)
@studerc careful, that can get you sued for $42 Million.
@lichme fine bent butterfly. I couldn't resist
Picture this
Monitor this deal
I've got my eyezon this deal.
@eulestadt both of them ??
@CrossIT
Meh.
that thing is ugly
Meh, Foscam's are better even at a higher price.
68 dollars? One more and it'd be a 69. Giggety.
@jsh139 alriiiight.
@jsh139 68 just means that you receive, and you owe him/her one.
QVGA? Isn't that 320X240?
Well fuck. Yet again we find ourselves at the corner of impulsivity and temptation as we near that janky ass pawn shop on the wrong end of town. Baby arm and cat images...is this for a baby catnap maybe?.
320 x 240 at 10 fps? No way. Didn't know there were cameras this bad out there.
@cengland0 Thanks for pointing that out, was considering jumping on them but that's just stupidly low resolution in this day and age.
The company is Stem
Ok ...
The model, then, is Izon and the make is View?
Cuz having your eyes on something and viewing it are, like, the same thing.
Sorta like if Chevrolet made a car called the Chevy.
Or better, Frigidaire made a fridge called The One with Really Cold Air.
@saodell
Company: Stem Innovations
Model: Izon View

@djslack if it acts like the 2.0 version, it sends it up to the cloud.. no sd slots, and no way to save the footage outside of the app.
@thismyusername Thanks. Seems easy but limiting.
@djslack yea these are not dropcams or even foscams... but as far as live monitors go... if you are inside the same network they are great little monitor units... and if you off network they are decent but force you to re-fresh every 5 mins.

Note these are not HD, so don't expect someone to be identified clearly.
@LDBrandhorst so if i want to see my cat wake up from a nap, probably not a bad deal, but if i want to show the police to ID a cat-burglar, not so much?
@DMlivezey I couldn't have said it better myself.
Actually you'll be much more secure without an Internet of things device recording everything you do. Meh.
I purchased these last time they were on offer and I was dissapointed. @cnbmis well when you are talking REAL security, wireless should be eliminated in general. :)
@thismyusername in-deed, a point well-pointed!
was this issue ever fixed ?
https://securityledger.com/2013/10/apple-store-favorite-izon-cameras-riddled-with-security-holes/
@mmaghakian They're being sold here at nearly 75% off the Apple Store price. What's your guess?
Baby Arm.
Notice that woot has a 2-pack of the Foscam C1s for $95 today
@oldmantick Here is the link to the set you mentioned: http://electronics.woot.com/offers/foscam-indoor-hd-720p-wireless-ip-camera-2-pack

Works down to 14 deg F. Plant one in the office refrigerator to catch whoever is stealing your lunch!

Woot Fascom offering
@accelerator Worse, Woot is selling the 720p version instead of this QVGA joke.
I'm confused or missing something. It states "Motion and noise detection start 5 seconds before the event". So these cameras are so good they know 5 seconds before the motion or sound occurs to turn on.
@okisher I'm guessing (hoping) they mean there is a 5-second buffer at all times, so if an even occurs, it grabs the previous 5 seconds as well.
Or time travel. Very slight time travel.
@okisher They are always recording, so it queues up the last 5 seconds and will save it if there is motion.
Found it on amazon, 1 dollar more, but free shipping. Happy buying.
Stem 2 pack on Amazon
@ArcaneOracle That's a different model.
@ArcaneOracle Then can you explain why it shows $124 when I access your link?
@cengland0 thank I'll buy it there , at least with the mixed reviews I can return it
@cengland0 Not sure. When I click on the link I get this. Different country perhaps?
@ArcaneOracle Different sellers. Yours is shipped and sold by BLING and my default one was sold by "Eyes to See" and fulfilled by Amazon. I even went to the other sellers and didn't see the one you are showing.
@cengland0 Unfortunate. The seller for mine must not be selling in your area. Looks like you better pick it up from Meh then.
I bought the IZON cams from early that are not night-vision. They are horrible. The app is horrible. The fact that they don't move on their own is horrible.

Version 2.0 and free shipping
@polahex meh sold that model 2 for $44 last time, or $22 each :)
Dammit. I'm not that old, but I'm old enough to not know what these do.
I think I need these, or at lease I could have a lot of fun with these, but I'm clueless. Lemme read the comments again, 'Sigh'.
@wew it's a good deal, but I'm going to pass.
@wew too much 'Sighing' and not enough 'Buying' wew.
Blinq.com has it for $51
(TC edit - Different model - they have the WRM-WA0-01)
@jaychris14 that is the izon 2.0 model, the one that meh sold for $22 each last time (it was 2 for $44)
I was going to get one, but then I saw that the arms in the pictures are not included
The quality of the video isn't the best but taking still shots is pretty good. All in all, the cameras work well for the price and are also way cheaper than installing a security system with monitors. And that's in laymans terms.
