@bdaise001 Wish they sold every headphone. I know, like monkeys typing until you get Hamlet, but if meh did that, someday they would sell some headphones worth owning.
How is the volume and noise cancellation on these? Considering grabbing them for use outside doing yard work and such since they are heavy duty, but feel like I would need to blast my brains out to hear it over a lawnmower.
@bph They fit more like on the ear honestly. The ear part is so shallow it sits on your ears. The sound is pretty good, they are very bass heavy. That said the whole thing is rubber and would probably be nasty out of doors.
@trisk yikes. this is getting a major meh then. Maybe if they sold some high quality headphones (klipsh, audio technica...) I'd bite. The headphones that came with my phone are a better deal than this.
HEY I CAN ONLY BUY 6! That's not going to help me dominate the future very well now is it? I've mortgaged the farm and put a call in for warehouse space to hold all these headphones, they're going to think I'm nuts if I show up with only twelve measly ear-blasters!
Bought these last time, most uncomfortable piece of junk I ever purchased. And Polk should be embarrassed to the point of folding their tent for putting their name on these atrocities.
Here's my deal: if I order something, I sign up for VMP, then set a reminder to cancel in 30 days. Unless that days deal is a keeper, then I let it ride
For the first year, I was VMP basically two months out of three.
But I don't think I've ordered anything since last summer. So still waiting on something worth that extra five.
I bought one of these awhile back. I broke it literally the first time I used it. Admittedly I'm a special kind of clumsy, but I would assume that 'indestructible' meant it would hold up for, anyway, three or four days.
@MehnofLaMehncha I have read this multiple times without discerning your meaning, unless it is about how meaningless the first few posts are every night about every deal. Be my guest to clue me in if it is still important enough. Thanks.
There is a lot of hate for these things! I bought them a few months back and they haven't broken and I don't find them uncomfortable. For the price, I was pleased, and they are much cheaper now. Clearly, I'm the minority, though...
The Swap features an in-line remote and microphone for use with Apple devices. Answer calls on your iPhone or skip between tracks with your iPod, or bump up the volume on your iPad.
And this on Amazon Answers:
Question: Are these for Apple products only? Answer: No, these have a regular 3.5mm / 1/8" stereo + mic headphone connector, and should work with any device with a normal "mini" headphone connector. Adapters are available if you have "micro" (3/32") or "standard" (1/4") headphone connectors, such as on older cell phones or larger stereo systems. NOTE: I just got some more in local stock, and I looked at the box. It says the REMOTE only works with Apple products. I talked to a gentleman who purchased these, and he said that the remote does work with SOME other devices, but YMMV (Your Mileage May Vary) The headphones themselves should work with anything. For $14/2 I'm in for a set. If they're truly horrible I'll give them to my grandson so he can watch his obnoxious Minecraft videos and leave us in peace.
@sammydog01 one of our kids, my teenage son, has discovered "sound quality". To the point where he is now willing to research and fund his own set.
Signing up on Harmon's JBL site yields periodic good deals on older model headsets for anywhere from $14-$50. Headsets with MSRPs from $80-150. We've now got an AKG ($15?) and a JBL ($29) set (both over ear) that sound very nice. Rich, clean sound with tight, deep bass.
Also picked up a (hotel model, clearance) JBL 30-pin speaker dock/clock radio with remote there for about $15 to use for older iPod streaming.
@sammydog01 be patient. As with Panasonic's storefront, the path to gems is layered with multitudinous attempts to sell the current stuff. A guess? Perhaps 1 -1.5 months between real deals. Scot-cheapness is an Olympic endurance sport.
Got some before at $28. They're kind of weirdly made, I can see why you might find them uncomfortable, but I was fine with them.
They broke eventually and I got a warranty replacement of some even sweeter earphones from Polk cause they were out of these. At 2 for $14, why the hell not get more! Grabbing 'em.
I got these when they went on sale in January. A few weeks later they broke. Polk won't stand behind the warranty on these because Mediocre isn't an authorized reseller. At least the great people at Mediocre were nice enough to give me a partial refund because they "didn't have any more" of these headphones to send me a replacement. I guess they were just well hidden.
@monreric Mediocre is an authorized reseller, and I did get a warranty replacement on my set from Polk when they broke.
I actually got two different people at Polk talking to me about it when I wrote them. One of them said "I'll send you a replacement." The other said "Sorry, mediocre is not an authorized reseller." I contacted mediocre and they said "we god damned well are an authorized reseller, let me talk to them." But by that time the first guy had already sent me the replacement so I let it drop.
Yes. Polk said that since they were discontinued so long ago, they have no stock to even let me purchase the broken part. Meh/Mediocre said they didn't have any more in stock to send me a replacement, so they did give me a partial refund. It's just funny that a week later, they're back on sale on 2 for Tuesday.
@f00l I have all these lovely photos and nothing to buy, which is the fault of @stardate820926. If ever we needed a little escapism, it's today after the primaries. 'When all the clouds darken up the skyway There's a rainbow highway to be found Leading from your windowpane To a place behind the sun Just a step beyond the rain...'
I bought the green ones, since I figured they'd look the least like my Big Standard Phones, an ancient Sennheiser rig, They don't sound quite that good -- a bit honky in the midrange, maybe a little peaky in the not-too-low bass -- and the cord looks a hair flimsy. And I prefer the earpads on, though your mileage may vary. Easily worth seven bucks apiece, but probably not a whole lot more than that.
@Nimijneb You're not kidding. They cut off the circulation on my head, but hopefully they'll fit my daughter's head better, which is who I bought them for to begin with. Built quality is good, but they're not well-designed.
My husband loves them. He must have a small head because he didn't complain about them being to tight. He's a bass player and loves the sound quality. Well played Meh!!!
They fit okay, a little small but not too bad, and the sound is pretty good (possibly better on an Apple device, because the in-line 'remote' control doesn't work on the Androids I've tried), but they weigh a ton. The Able Planets work just as well, at a fraction of the weight.
While these sound great for cheap headphones, you get what you pay for in durability. Both headbands have snapped in less than a years time. Not worth the hassle to get replacements from Polk.
@carlmurray Since this item was last sold over six years ago, any communication you may receive about them regarding a current order is very much bogus.

Head start on this deal - double the pleasure double hearing phone fun
@AttyVette Sounds good to me!
That's too many headphones for only 2 ears mehdiocre
Perfect deal for the person with 4 ears.
(Sorry...that was stupid....the best I could do at 12am.)
@UncleEdZed Sounds "Corny" to me
Bought them a while back. Sorry, straight to Goodwill.
OK, enough with the f'n Headphones and speakers
@somf69 unless they're JBL Mini docks.
This has a built in microphone right?
@ZeluciferThe 3 button remote control features a single toggle with a built-in microphone that enables you to take calls and talk hands free.
So sayth the mehnual.
@HeadfoneJack yay, ps4 headphones
my ears hurt just looking at these
I think I paid $24 for 2 back in January. so far the kids haven't broke them.
Should have waited. Bought these last month on two for Tuesday $24
That price sure is collapsing!
MEH = Manages to sell ,Every Headphone. I mean seriously????
@bdaise001
Wish they sold every headphone. I know, like monkeys typing until you get Hamlet, but if meh did that, someday they would sell some headphones worth owning.
How is the volume and noise cancellation on these? Considering grabbing them for use outside doing yard work and such since they are heavy duty, but feel like I would need to blast my brains out to hear it over a lawnmower.

do the aux cables detach from the headsets? Might be worth it just for two aux cables...
@Squash If you look at the photos it's a splitter cable essentially, which are about a buck on eBay, maybe two with the volume controls.
@trisk yikes. this is getting a major meh then. Maybe if they sold some high quality headphones (klipsh, audio technica...) I'd bite. The headphones that came with my phone are a better deal than this.
bashful-foolish-nest
Wow. Did not realize that my vmp had lapsed. Close call.
Do the mini plugs work with old fashioned mp3 players that accept mini-plugs or are these only for smartphones, etc.?
@radi0j0hn They fit anything from a Walkman to a laptop. Just ignore the volume/play buttons. Mic will also work on some laptops.
ick
Good thing I came by here today... Time to load up! Thanks for the tip, @JasonToon!
HEY I CAN ONLY BUY 6! That's not going to help me dominate the future very well now is it? I've mortgaged the farm and put a call in for warehouse space to hold all these headphones, they're going to think I'm nuts if I show up with only twelve measly ear-blasters!
Should we tell him... guess everyone has to learn on their own.
Bought these last time, most uncomfortable piece of junk I ever purchased. And Polk should be embarrassed to the point of folding their tent for putting their name on these atrocities.
@ellett but did they sound good?
@RedOak Wretched.
@ellett
Indeed
You guys have been doing an excellent job of making me not regret canceling vmp. Keep up the good work.
@wyk3d
No holding my breath, though.
@MehnofLaMehncha ditto on the method. But my orders are a lot more recent.
I bought one of these awhile back. I broke it literally the first time I used it. Admittedly I'm a special kind of clumsy, but I would assume that 'indestructible' meant it would hold up for, anyway, three or four days.
@azfang Ditto.
@ahobart81
Ditto ditto
This deal is so ...
The thing about headphones is ...
Did you ever notice how ...
No, I got nothing. No headphone jokes, puns, haikus, or pithy observations left in the tank.
@MehnofLaMehncha I have read this multiple times without discerning your meaning, unless it is about how meaningless the first few posts are every night about every deal. Be my guest to clue me in if it is still important enough. Thanks.
@sparkyfarad
No, not meaningless. And pointing the finger mostly at myself.
There will always be a certain non-zero percentage of attempts at humor to start the show.
And that gets harder and harder when the punchline is always the same.
There is a lot of hate for these things! I bought them a few months back and they haven't broken and I don't find them uncomfortable. For the price, I was pleased, and they are much cheaper now. Clearly, I'm the minority, though...
@jennifern Same here. Pretty great headphones, crazy great deal, and they are rather more unbreakable than any other pair I've known.
@jennifern Thanks, I was looking through all the posts trying to find mention of them being decent enough that I could convince myself to buy them. :D
@Al_Coholic
I definitely think they are worth this price. Enjoy!
@jennifern Yeah, they're so cheap! Big part of why I wanted them. :)
There only 14.71 at Amazon n free s/h over 25.00. So where's the deal? DO YOU REALIZE WITH 5.00 S/H HERE YOUR PAYING MORE. SORRY NO BARGAIN HERE
@voche68 You get another pair for your other ears over here!
@Royle your right i brain farted lol. Ok so u do save
@voche68 Free shipping over $25? You are two price increases behind. Amazon is free shipping over $49 now.
I might take a Polk at them, but the list price is absurd.
Another headphone deal? How many more this month?
@Bayamonprieto77 Until Morale Improves
@thismyusername or they find more in-wall speakers.
@thismyusername
Row well, and live.
Are these controls (like most Polk products) only compatible with iPhone & iPad?
@MEHcus?
Will they work with a Galaxy or a Kindle?
@2many2no Remind me in the morning and I'll check them on a Chromebook.
@2many2no
Found this on Crutchfield:
And this on Amazon Answers:
2 POS for the price of 1 POS. What a country!
God they were painful and sound like trashcans.
I was gonna ebay them but doubt i'd get 5 for 'em... (well now especially lol).
I want more control in my dull, gray life. Particularly in the area of color.
Bigger-invisible-back
Too bad we can't "boom swap" this for a different deal, ha ha, clever joke I made there.
Boom
I keep forgetting to mention this, but my platform (seamonkey/gentoo linux) selects through hyphens on double-click just fine.
A post from 2007 suggests that gecko-based browsers use the "layout.word_select.stop_at_punctuation" setting in about:config. http://www.bluetwanger.de/blog/2007/04/12/word-boundaries-for-ctrl-leftright-in-firefox-and-other-gecko-browsers/ The post is about selecting using the keyboard, but it might apply to the double-click.
I bought these once but couldn't hear anything out of them. Is there something special I need to do?
@Not_Ken_M
1) Put them on.
@Not_Ken_M
Or throw them away and get decent headphones.
One of mine arrived busted. :p
@RedOak if i may...
1) Unpack and unwrap them
2) Plug them into a compatable device outputting sound
3) Put over your ears
4) Enjoy! (for certain values of pleasure)
Ugh, these things are just so damn ugly. I would rather wear old Radio Shack headphones from the 1970's than these things.
@TheTexasTwister What about new ones from the 1970's?
@TheTexasTwister they do have a certain high school language lab panache to their look don't they?
@Not_Ken_M Even better! No ear sweat to worry about.
@RedOak No kidding. Even the nerds would make fun of those poor kids who had to wear these ugly things.
For $14/2 I'm in for a set. If they're truly horrible I'll give them to my grandson so he can watch his obnoxious Minecraft videos and leave us in peace.
@Amazonite each time these are sold I hope someone will say "these sound surprisingly good like those cheapo $8 '808 Drifts' sold a while back".
Our cache of sacrificial 808's is gradually getting consumed by our unappreciative kids.
@RedOak I love those 808s. I'm running out too, so the kids will have to go for these or the pair of Able Planets I picked up.
@sammydog01 one of our kids, my teenage son, has discovered "sound quality". To the point where he is now willing to research and fund his own set.

At least the great people at Mediocre were nice enough to give me a partial refund because they "didn't have any more" of these headphones to send me a replacement. @monreric Polk probably offered them a bunch more for cheap. Did you try both Meh and Mediocre for the warranty?
@monreric Mediocre is an authorized reseller, and I did get a warranty replacement on my set from Polk when they broke.
I actually got two different people at Polk talking to me about it when I wrote them. One of them said "I'll send you a replacement." The other said "Sorry, mediocre is not an authorized reseller." I didn't really need these, but my backlog of pretty pictures is huge, so vicarious-tremendous-quiver looks like
@OldCatLady Is that a half naked fireman on the beach? I just like to know the context of your photos.
@OldCatLady
Let us know when you're up for another trip. The last one hasn't completely worn off yet, was that good!
@sammydog01 Technically he's listed as a 'first responder', but otherwise, yes indeed.
@f00l I have all these lovely photos and nothing to buy, which is the fault of @stardate820926. If ever we needed a little escapism, it's today after the primaries.

Wearing these headphones have the same effect on your social status as wearing Keds to 8th grade in 1986.
Popped me meh cherry with these minty green wanna beats!
@therealcandide brace yourself.
can I buy 2 colors in one order, like a white and green ?
@iamgopi sure! If you buy one 2 pack in white and another 2 pack in green.
Goodbye junk lol
Do these come in Trump Orange? Or Rubyo Red?
I bought the green ones, since I figured they'd look the least like my Big Standard Phones, an ancient Sennheiser rig, They don't sound quite that good -- a bit honky in the midrange, maybe a little peaky in the not-too-low bass -- and the cord looks a hair flimsy. And I prefer the earpads on, though your mileage may vary. Easily worth seven bucks apiece, but probably not a whole lot more than that.
Got them in to replace my broken 808 ones. Not too bad no $100 but worth $20-$30 to me.
These are even worse than you could possibly imagine. $19 not well spent. Oh well.
@Nimijneb You're not kidding. They cut off the circulation on my head, but hopefully they'll fit my daughter's head better, which is who I bought them for to begin with. Built quality is good, but they're not well-designed.

@OldCatLady Perfect- punishment for when my kids break the last pair of 808s.
@sammydog01 They are definitely sturdy.
ok, so i just broke the headband on the first pair. how do i get some warranty on these?
While these sound great for cheap headphones, you get what you pay for in durability. Both headbands have snapped in less than a years time. Not worth the hassle to get replacements from Polk.
I did not order these.
@carlmurray Since this item was last sold over six years ago, any communication you may receive about them regarding a current order is very much bogus.
