@JohnQ118 Good idea! And the regular-size ones are on Side Deal for more than 10x less per gram, with a 4/23/26 expiration, so freezing could help if you don’t eat them often enough.
@JohnQ118@troy clarified that these are the nut-based variety & the Side Deal ones are the “Healthy Grains” type. Also, i was using the typo in the specs, thinking these were 3g each instead of 20g, so the Side Deal ones (which i prefer, personally) are closer in price after all.
@SteveOOO@troy Actually, i got this flavor last time and the expiration isn’t until 4/23/26 – the other flavors were all January dates, IIRC. The ones i got still taste perfectly normal.
@SteveOOO@troy Correction, Troy pointed out these are the nut-based variety, the ones on Side Deal are the “Healthy Grains” ones. They’re still really good, though!
@SteveOOO I’ve never seen this particular variant for sale here, but I’ve been eating both the peanut butter and chocolate chip versions and they’re still delicious. So are the multigrain “energy” ones.
@Atomizer@SteveOOO some people have varying tastes, but it always startles me when people say “the trash immediately.”
Maybe they were fine and you just didn’t like them? Donate somewhere! There is an “off chance” that they were really “off” in that nut based products can develop an old taste quickly in some situations. But from some reports this variation was never offered for sale here before(?)
Not a flavor I want. I’m weird, I don’t like peanuts and chocolate together, and it’s even worse when it’s peanut butter as far as I’m concerned. So no, not going there. (And yes, this means I’m “not a fan” of anything Reese’s.)
@therealjrn@werehatrack They still have a couple of the other flavors on Side Deal, but the expirations are in January, i believe, so it’s a crapshoot. They also have this flavor for anyone who’s interested, with an expiration of 4/23/26, and they’re about 10x (10.58x, to be exact) cheaper per gram, with a lot less wasted packaging. Like @JohnQ118 said, you can always freeze them if necessary.
@ircon96 I think you’re referring to these which are $0.348/oz vs the Minis today which are $0.396/oz, but these are the true nut variety that Kind became known for, whereas the others are the “healthy grain” variety which is primarily oats.
@troy Oops, i was using the 3 gram size listed in the specs at the top of the page – you might want to fix that. I was wondering why they’d bother making such tiny bars! Lol … So, I’ll correct my other post, these are 20g vs 40g & i didn’t realize there was a difference. I do like the Healthy Grains variety, though – I’m nuts enough already!
What about Reece Whitherspoon? She’s ok isn’t she?
Reese is way out of my budget. (And I am 100% sure that I’m past my stale date for her, and probably the wrong flavor, so the mismatch is likely to be multilevel.)
Now I just need to buy an airplane so I can hand these out mid-flight. It’s a scientific fact that tiny snacks make people feel less nervous about flying.
Hey @meh, I live in a state that doesn’t charge sales tax on food purchases. Any chance you can make Meh not charge tax when selling food to people in those states?
@mehkato@therealjrn We have this product setup appropriately under the tax code for “Food and Beverage - Granola Bars, Cereal Bars, Energy Bars, Protein Bars containing no flour”
@mehkato@therealjrn@troy I remember many years ago when I lived in California, there was a much-complained-about “snack tax” where previously any food-like substance was not taxed. It was also called the “candy” tax or soda-tax. As far as I know it’s still the same and people are used to it after 40-50 years.
It was even back then there was talk about our unhealthy diets and obesity. Not much has changed there, unfortunately.
@mehkato@pmarin@troy When I revised my eating habits, I was told to shop around the edges of the store and avoid the boxed, prepared food. I’m still not a huge fresh fruit and vegetable eater, but I’m working on it.
All that cheap corn syrup, salt, and seed oils are murder. But people are going to buy and eat what they want, as is their right.
@phelmurh main reason I’m not getting… as mentioned earlier after the peanuts there are 3 sugar-like substances. I don’t pretend to avoid all sugars, but compared to only 3 g of protein, seemed too much. (I know these are smaller bars.)
If you are doing bike rides these might be good where you need the calories in a small bar, though I think there might be better options.

Not my Kind of deal.
Challenge accepted
thinking about it, i dunno man
@thenewlight Oh, you know
@thenewlight 23 hours to decide…
@thenewlight so you "kind"a want to buy? And "kind"a don’t.
Freeze 'em! Extend that “Best By” date exponentially.
Buy FOUR.
thinking about it, i dunno man, because these are the little’uns.
@JohnQ118 Good idea! And the regular-size ones are on Side Deal for more than 10x less per gram, with a 4/23/26 expiration, so freezing could help if you don’t eat them often enough.
@JohnQ118 OK, I pondered, I thought, I reviewed,
I asked the Wife, she said, “YES”, in for ONE (box).
@JohnQ118 @troy clarified that these are the nut-based variety & the Side Deal ones are the “Healthy Grains” type. Also, i was using the typo in the specs, thinking these were 3g each instead of 20g, so the Side Deal ones (which i prefer, personally) are closer in price after all.
@ircon96 thanks for clarifying! We state 3g protein in the specs, but you’re right the weight of the bar is 20g
@troy OMG, i really need to try to get more sleep before i hit the forums!
Thanks for your patience.

Be KIND, rebuy.
Don’t buy this garbage. My dumbass bought some the last time they were on and they had an off taste and were all thrown in the trash immediately.
@SteveOOO “last time” had very close dating (~2 months). This one is 356 days out
Edit: Here’s the 144-pack we sold 11/16/22 with BB date 1/22/23
@SteveOOO @troy Actually, i got this flavor last time and the expiration isn’t until 4/23/26 – the other flavors were all January dates, IIRC. The ones i got still taste perfectly normal.

@SteveOOO @troy I bought those! And yes, the flavor was off in some of them, but there were more good than bad.
Not a flavor I want. I’m weird, I don’t like peanuts and chocolate together, and it’s even worse when it’s peanut butter as far as I’m concerned. So no, not going there. (And yes, this means I’m “not a fan” of anything Reese’s.)

@therealjrn @werehatrack but… But… Buckeyes
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buckeye_(candy)
@therealjrn @unksol Yeah, no. Just no. (And I was born in Ohio, go figure.)
@therealjrn @unksol @werehatrack
YUM!
@werehatrack Blasphemy!
@rustyh3 @werehatrack meh. We’re all a little “defective”
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
These are not Kind to my waistline. A determined NO this time. I will not give into temptation again.
@hchavers Aw, come on…don’t be like that. You can always freeze them I hear.
@hchavers @therealjrn Batteries and mini bars, coexisting in the frozen dark. Kumbaya.
@hchavers @phendrick @therealjrn
Kumbaya…

100 calories in each mini bar.
Are those the mini calories, with a miniscule “c”?
We have these in our house, but 144 is a lotta snax.
/showme house made of KIND Minis Peanut Butter Dark Chocolate candy bars instead of bricks.
@cfg83 I suggest no fires in the fireplace, unless maybe you are desperate for the taste of s’mores.
@troy @thumperchick
We have a spam surge at this hour for MTS mail, JetBlue booking, etc
Mostly from xevimi1286 and padak62629 but geez this was a lot of random topics.
Oh they’re still making more accounts to spam topics.
@pakopako I know exactly where this blame goes! Ha ha!
/showme what evil I can commit with 144 kind bars.
Hmm. Interesting idea. But there are better fire starters for doing arson
@OnionSoup But the oil in those almonds will keep those flames stoked
@OnionSoup @pakopako And no one would suspect arson, because the bars are Kind.
Now I just need to buy an airplane so I can hand these out mid-flight. It’s a scientific fact that tiny snacks make people feel less nervous about flying.
I like these, but don’t need a dozen dozen. Going to put the rest in the “free food” pantry in my town.
@RetreadNJ
The one time it is ok for food to be gross.
After peanuts, the next three highest content ingredients are all sugars. Not very “kind” to anyone’s metabolism.
@broddr OMG, THE HORROR!
Hey @meh, I live in a state that doesn’t charge sales tax on food purchases. Any chance you can make Meh not charge tax when selling food to people in those states?
@mehkato I too, have this question. Maybe @troy can illuminate this for us.
In my case, I can’t remember if it’s a city tax or state tax here in Tulsa, Oklahoma but we do get a break on groceries.
@mehkato @therealjrn We have this product setup appropriately under the tax code for “Food and Beverage - Granola Bars, Cereal Bars, Energy Bars, Protein Bars containing no flour”
For Oklahoma, I’m reading that “Ready-to-eat prepared foods will not be tax-exempt.”
For Minnesota, “Prepared foods, soft drinks, candy, and dietary supplements are taxable.”
@mehkato Fair enough, @troy! Do you take EBT?
@mehkato @therealjrn @troy I remember many years ago when I lived in California, there was a much-complained-about “snack tax” where previously any food-like substance was not taxed. Sweet!!!

Now I’m sad because that my order number has walnuts but the product only has peanuts. False after-the-fact advertising! Or something.
