@werehatrack I’m also wondering what sort of shellfish anybody was expecting these to have. Seems like they could’ve also said “No added asbestos or mercury.”
@werehatrack@xobzoo I saw a box of baking soda once that proudly proclaimed it was ‘GMO Free!’, and I just about had a stroke right there in the baking aisle.
Plants, meat, dairy and mushrooms are not the only “food” sources anymore. Most vinegar is made from petroleum, lots of stuff has titanium dioxide as a coloring agent, salt is straight-up mined, and yeast defies classification as meat or plant. That’s just a drop in the “crap you’re probably eating but don’t necessarily understand” bucket.
@werehatrack I had not heard about petroleum vinegar before, but a quick search confirms it. Blech.
And here I thought the biggest vinegar scandal of the decade was when we picked up what we thought was apple cider vinegar, then noticed that it was apple flavored distilled vinegar. That was a shocker, and reminded us that even basic foodstuffs are not immune to added ingredients.

Plant based…
… Just like everything else that isn’t meat, dairy, or mushrooms.
High fructose corn syrup is plant based. Heck… A lot of pesticides are plant based.

Here we go, this is what I was thinking of:

(I used to know how to make an image also be a link…)
These are actually legit good. Not health food good, but actually tasty.
@yoda133113
I bought the mint and birthday cake ones a month ago at $24 for two 12 packs. Their expiration date is further away than these are.
This seems overpriced at $20.
@ArmchairGamer The price is what put me off on this run; the ones sold a month ago expire in March, when do these say they expire?
These came yesterday, and tried them today. The biggest Rule that they Break is the general rule that snacks should be tasty. These very much are not.
