@akadamia, Yeah & I’ve been patiently waiting for the other one, the Mehpfizer- BioNTech vaccine & have turned down getting those other 3 cause my physician, Dr D J Cheeto tRump told me them were all fake. Ya know, I never did like the taste of that bleach, or da Kool-Aid he had me drink. I wonder why¿!!
@jushen, No, No, those other ones were the VESE brand, model # M45K• PUN•H3R3 [no pun intended] & not R2D2 & this one is TH, model # GTB 1626•2006. Those numbers aren’t even close!! Plus, those VESE masks are all Highly Breathable, where all these masks are just Comfortable Breathing. You can’t be much different than that!! Okay, Okay, you really can & I guess they do look a lot alike & they Are made in the same factory!! My Bad!!
@courteousblock, Well that Was one difference; the Tese masks were $29 for 60 msks, or about 50¢ each, and these are 39¢ each, which is about a 19¢ difference each. That Can add up!! I did get those TESE brand, but have so fn many masks all I have done with these is Look At Them & Have Been Trying To Find A Fn Place To Store The Damn Things!!
@1DisabledWarVet@courteousblock difference is 11 cents not 19. I’d rather pay .50/mask and only have to buy maybe 20, instead of .39/mask and have to buy 100.
@Kidsandliz@sligett I’m not aware of any scientific data regarding possible benefits from refrigerating masks - certainly not at the level of the incontrovertible body of evidence about chilling batteries. And bubble wrapping either would just be madness.
@communist
I mean, I do care about, maybe not brand, but quality. I want to make sure they’re actually filtering at least close to how they claim to be.
@Narwalt well with the information given there will be no way to tell if the ones sold here filter anywhere close to claimed. Certainly it will have less air leakage on the sides than a rectangular mask but beyond that there is no way to tell because there isn’t enough information given to look them up on the testing list.
@communist Thanks for the links. I have 50 more masks coming. They look to have an internal nose adjustment thingy, and wider straps for more comfort. The external metal nose adjustment thingy that were on the masks I bought here previously fell off after 1 use or after being folded to slip into my pocket. I’ll never buy masks again that have the metal adjuster.
@katbyter@zippyus, Another reason is because they want you to throw them away like spoiled milk and Buy Some More!! That is their Marketing Business Plan anyway, …they are beholding to their Stock Holders, not their Customers! JSYK!!
Do you need a mask after the vaccine? 16 states say you don’t need a mask now! But I think it’s a mistake. The governor of my state said he trusted people to do the right thing! I wrote him and said if you want to see an example of how people do the right thing, look at any public restroom.
@Kyser_Soze Yes because there is still a slight chance you could still catch it but because of the shot you’ll be systematic and unknowingly pass it on as the shots aren’t 100% effective so in the off chance you catch it and then go out in public you can still spread it among others.
As they say the mask are more to protect your fellow man than you, and only 4 of those 16 states have dropped the mask mandate completely and those are states where the governors have no spines and bow to public pressure rather than science
@ConcealedPsycho We are lucky, our local laws over ride the state law. So everyone locally still has to wear a mask. I’m going in for shot #1 Friday, so it’s a start. And after shot #2, I’ll feel a lot safer and hopefully some of my life can get back to normal.
@Kyser_Soze, So, are you from the great state of Ms? The reason I ask is cause I was watching Chl 3 [WREG in Memphis] & heard the Ms governor, Mr. Tate Reeves, quote that exact remark.
@Kyser_Soze According to the CDC, if you are vaccinated and around others who are vaccinated, you do not have to use a mask or socially distance. Otherwise, there is a small chance you could still be a-symptomatic with covid even after having the vaccine and then an even smaller chance that you could infect a non-vacinated person.
only 4 of those 16 states have dropped the mask mandate completely and those are states where the governors have no spines and bow to public pressure rather than science
It is more than public pressure - political pressure would play a part of it. Since this is not a political thread I won’t say more…
@1DisabledWarVet@Kyser_Soze Tate Reeves is a total asshat who, just for starters, has his head so far up a certain political person’s butt that when that person opens his mouth you see Reeves’s head. He is refusing to help Jackson with the water issues unless Jackson gives the state the airport. Considering how much property in the city is already owned by the state or the state university and how that affects the tax base (not to mention the regional area ghetto is in this city) giving up the airport makes no financial sense. Reeves is a total jerk and even though his grade school daughter had covid STILL doesn’t give a shit about anyone or anything with this pandemic. He’s had his shot as has his family so fuck the rest of us.
@1DisabledWarVet@Kidsandliz@Kyser_Soze Quick comparison between MS and NM: Asshat govs who are totally in it for themselves. Our NM gov has us locked down so tight no one can even begin to survive economically. More deaths resulting from economical disparity than CoVid. Luhan-Grisham used >$36K of discretionary funds during the worst time of the pandemic to buy alcohol, food, party favors, and decorations. The governors mansion and all gov’t offices were closed during this time. Nothing to party about! New Mexicans are waiting in miles long food lines because all the charitable food pantries are exhausted. It goes on and on. Uber left Progressive politics at play. We are literally dying here, and not from CoVid.
Oh, and my wife is a healthcare worker. She has worked overtime everyday for a full year now. But, the required PPE has not been provided to her by her employer, or the state. I bought another round of these KN95 masks today for her! Not to mention protective gowns and other items she needs to protect both herself and her patients.
@Kidsandliz@Kyser_Soze, on the Jackson water issue, he learned that quid pro quo BS from CHEETO & the Senate Rpblcns said it’s quite fine to do that with their ‘Nay’ vote to indict Cheeto tRump!! That’s all also easy to see.
@accelerator A) if the needed PPE is not provided by her employer that is a heck of an OSHA violation and should be reported by literally everyone
be sure to keep the receipts of PPE y’all have bought for her job because it should be tax deductible, I know it won’t be worth much, but if your wife gets paid anywhere near as well as me. . HAHAHA, sorry. . then I know every penny counts.
PS, I’m in EMS, I buy KN95s because they work a lot better with glasses than the regular N95s.
@noot The handmade cloth masks are often very good - two layers and a place to put a filter inside, and more comfortable. Some of the cheaply made synthetic masks are hot and don’t fit well.
@Kyeh@noot Just make sure those cloth masks get washed as often as possible (ideally after each use). I’ve heard of too many people using the same mask for nearly a year and never (or rarely) having washed it.
@drinkYourOJ@Kyeh@noot Ugh! The “theory” that germs cause disease has not quite caught on among certain folks. They are, to use a highly technical term, numbskulls.
Not much incentive to buy these when there is NO MANUFACTURER LISTED, and the “Model” is actual just a KN95 filtration standard. No way to cross check any FDA/CDC list of filtration pass/fail masks. I guess it doesn’t much matter, as these will undoubtedly stop huge lugees that you might hork up. But for the money, it would be nice to know if these actually filter out >90% of 3 micron particles, or only 15%. Enquiring minds want to know…
Or am I being too picky?
Has anybody else had problems with these? I cannot get them to fit my face. No matter how carefully I bend the wires, air goes whooshing from my exhalations and up through the top part. My husband has the same problem. I’m planning on passing ours on to our 5’3" daughter. (We’re only 5’6", so.)
@madamehardy Like I was saying to phaedrusnyc, they’re not for everyone, which is sad because everyone should be wearing them. I’m hopeful that these problems will highlight an issue and it will be come normal for companies to make a few sizes just like rubber gloves have done for hospitals.
The last ones I bought here were a different brand, but they are not one-size-fits-all and I have had difficulties with them due to my big head and fat face. They’re fine if you never open your mouth, but I’m constantly adjusting them when I speak because they don’t fully reach under my chin and I end up with a fold at the nose that I need to adjust as soon as I speak.
@phaedrusnyc I’m with you. It’s just the nature of a generic mask design becoming a standard for all others. I went through about 20 amazon and etsy cloth masks before finding a couple that work for my face shape and full beard.
@phaedrusnyc, since that’s your case then you need to really keep your hands clean. Wash them with soap & H²O when possible & carry a btl of sanitizer, or some wipes in your pocket and don’t leave home without it!! You needs to be extra careful not to contaminate your mask, or face while you’re adjusting your mask!
yes, keep wearing masks past vaccination. In fact don’t even consider yourself vaccinated til 2 weeks after the 2nd shot (pfizer/moderna) or single shot (J&J). But yeah, keep masking.
Ok this is price relief if these are the ones (non-VESE) that I got here at $29 for 60 last month. I still haven’t tested filtration, but the ones I got were individually wrapped, which is nice. The VESE ones say wrapped in packs of 5. I don’t know about the one in today’s offer.
I would say the ones I got are easier to breathe through than real N95’s are. That’s not a good thing since it means they’re not filtering the air as much, but some people can’t stand wearing an N95 so the KN95’s are better than nothing.

@jushen Well you are supposed to use them and then toss them. If you aren’t doing that then of course you won’t need any more. (grin)
Oh man less than 50 cents a mask. I already have so many KN95s from buying most of the previous sales!
@courteousblock, Well that Was one difference; the Tese masks were $29 for 60 msks, or about 50¢ each, and these are 39¢ each, which is about a 19¢ difference each. That Can add up!! @katbyter @MrNews The Amazon page is dead. Nice dog though.
@blaineg Apparently, they sold out. Not surprising, considering they delivered the masks I ordered within 6 hours!!
I have some of these. They’re very masky.
OH MY GOD THEY DIDN’T SOCIALLY DISTANCE FROM GLEN!!!
@shahnm Do you store your masks with your batteries?
@shahnm @sligett @fenton10 To store them together in the fridge you’d have to bubble wrap one or the other. Right?
@Kidsandliz @sligett I’m not aware of any scientific data regarding possible benefits from refrigerating masks - certainly not at the level of the incontrovertible body of evidence about chilling batteries. And bubble wrapping either would just be madness.
I’ll be looking into it.
if you dont care about brand and/or quality, its cheaper on ebay

@communist One other thing… The masks I have coming from CA filter dust, pollen, virus and “tail gas”!!!
What’s the shelf life of these masks? Will they still be good when the next pandemic comes along in a year or two?
https://www.gavi.org/vaccineswork/10-infectious-diseases-could-be-next-pandemic
Are you ready for the next mask crave wave?
Why is there an expiration date?
@katbyter usually because elastics don’t e-last forever.
@katbyter @zippyus, Another reason is because they want you to throw them away like spoiled milk and Buy Some More!! That is their Marketing Business Plan anyway, …they are beholding to their Stock Holders, not their Customers! JSYK!!
@1DisabledWarVet @katbyter @zippyus
As long as they don’t smell like expired milk when the date hits…
These aren’t even good joke fodder.
