@minuette@ponagathos They can be replaced. You just need a bunch of them and a tiny screwdriver. I got a pack of these a few years ago. The batteries in the one on my desk still works. So maybe some of these are still not quite dead yet.
I wondered how many neighborhoods would be giving these out for unsuspecting trick or treaters but the how many sold section is missing for this offer. Strange…
Unless you plan to buy the cheapest bulk-pack batteries on eBay, these are hardly worth the effort to swap out the cells. You’d spend a fortune if you bought the batteries at Wal-Mart. If you are OK using no-name ones (which is what they come with), then the equivalent can be had on eBay far cheaper, but you’ll still spend more per fob on the batteries than the 20 cents each that these fobs are going for.
@werehatrack OBTW, using a small penlight-size battery-operated screwdriver to open these up will greatly speed the process. If you don’t already have one, now you have the excuse to add it to your tool collection.
@blaineg They’d pretty much have to charge almost the same for 25, honestly. And I have no doubt that the only reason these have not yet been converted to packing material for IRKs is that they sell a couple of dozen boxes before Halloween every year. (Sooner or later, they’ll get IRKed or maybe even tossed when the batteries start to leak in too many of them.)(They aren’t equipped with lithium cells, more’s the pity.)

Are those batteries replaceable or are we just paying to dispose of your trash? If they are replaceable, what type?
@ponagathos From the price comparison website: “It uses four button cell batteries (AG3) that are included and not replaceable.”
@minuette thanks

@blaineg No.

But these would go really good with all the trackers I have with dead batteries!
@Springbank … Coming soon to an IRK near you!
