@fractalVisionz@therealjrn I’ve seen these banana cutters for years and I still cannot imagine the person who buys one with any seriousness. I mean, if you really need to slice a banana, it’s so soft you could use anything. A butter knife. A spoon. Edge of a plate. Are they completely lacking in any and all utensils, in which case, how will they eat this, now that it is sliced?
@fractalVisionz@Ozzie2191@therealjrn When I was a kid we would sometimes have cold cereal for breakfast. My mom would give each of us a banana to slice up in our bowl. I still like my cereal that way.
@Ozzie2191 Fun fact!! Most of the ridiculous looking products that complete already easy tasks were usually invented to solve a specific issue for someone with a disability. Since the target market is so small, they open it up to everyone to make it financially feasible, but they all just look silly if you don’t have that specific disability. Made so much sense when I found that out.
@fractalVisionz@therealjrn My sister bought me one of these banana cutters for Christmas you have to make sure you don’t turn it upside down while you’re cutting your banana because then the slices won’t be at the right angle if you use it upside down
You did it again-same price as on MorningSave so with VMP coupon-a little cheaper. That being said-these are great. Used one as a top on a salad dressing bottle who original plastic top had broken. Fit great. Put a half cut onion in it and it stayed much fresher than keeping it in a dish as I usually do. So I highly recommend these.
@harveydanger i pretty much only ever use half an avocado. You don’t put a whole avocado on toast, eggs, burgers, or turkey sammies. Guac is the exception.
Right now I’m praying for the poor developing nation sweatshop worker toiling away every day making these things wondering what in the heavens they actually do.
So, you’re substituting the purgatory of finding lids to match your spouse’s bewildering assortment of Tupperware containers, with the purgatory of finding the right fruit condom to fit your half-eaten fruit?
If you haven’t figured out a way to keep your onions and tomatoes usable without investing in this absolute manifestation of Future Regret™…you and this product belong together.
@jdavis103@rpstrong And you’d need it in a house full of kids because why would you possibly finish what is already “open” if you can “open” a new one. Right?
@jdavis103 I took the plunge. My default storage technique is to just set the produce on a saucer or other such dish. I’m not expecting any additional shelf life, since the leftovers already seal pretty well to the dish - but I’m sold on the compactness.
You know that one drawer? every kitchen has at least one or two of those everything odds and ends junk drawers with mason jar rings and a garlic press and 1000 toothpicks that have escaped their box and stray birthday candles and a satchel of yeast and a nut cracker and a half empty rubber-band bound pack of semisweet chocolate morsels and a dirty stew stained potholder and an assortment of to go menus from restaurants you can’t remember going to and a half shaved nut Of nutmeg and various old plastic knives and Taco Bell fire sauce packets and one packet of kfc honey that has leaked and made the bottom of the drawer sticky and there’s one sad dead ant who tried to eat the honey and got squished in half by ceramic salt shaker kewpie doll head — Yes, that drawer. The forgotten everything and nothing dead letter office drawer where everything goes to die? The family collective catch all hoarder drawer you open occasionally on accident and shut immediately or open on a rainy tuna casserole and Jello lime pudding pie with graham cracker crust afternoon and find a sudden wistful comfort and then a sad pit of utter depression and meaninglessness and immediately slam shut and break the single lone plastic Chopstick in two for the next person to deal with. —Well that drawer NEEDS these. Please order them, several sets of them in fact, create a panic buying wave of these things all over America. Don’t think just do it. Thank you in advance. You deserve it.
@ignoramus Chocolate can be saved? I’m pretty sure it starts going bad as soon as the package has been opened, and must all be consumed immediately. At least, I’ve never been willing to test the contrary…
Following up to my post about them being cheaper on Morningsave with the VMP 10% off. Same thing happened with the Cuisinart steak knives which I posted about, but then I checked before posting that they were still on sale at MorningSave. Didn’t check before posting this time. Sorry about that. Evidently Meh read what I said last time and took them off MorningSave before putting them on sale on Meh.

Had ordered these for more money on Amazon, found myself want more of the middle sizes so I ordered 2 more, one for me and one for my mom who lives alone. Avocado saver actually kept my avocado from going nasty brown overnight. Kinda stoked.

the wat?
@RedOx what, do your phone numbers have digits or numbers and not letters?
@RedOx I just came here to see if anyone pointed this out. Thank you, goodbye.
Millennials can’t afford houses because not only are we buying too many avocados, we’re buying too many avocado huggers as well! Apparently.
@lljk Avocado-hugger sounds like the latest generational slur
Seriously, who cuts a banana in half that way and would use such a thing?
@fractalVisionz
@fractalVisionz If you ever meet a woman who cuts bananas in half like that, RUN.
@fractalVisionz The thought of putting a cap on a banana made me LOL.
@fractalVisionz @therealjrn I’ve seen these banana cutters for years and I still cannot imagine the person who buys one with any seriousness. I mean, if you really need to slice a banana, it’s so soft you could use anything. A butter knife. A spoon. Edge of a plate. @awk @fractalVisionz did her name rhyme with the Hobbit?
@fractalVisionz @therealjrn
That’s the left-handed model, too.
@fractalVisionz @Ozzie2191 @therealjrn When I was a kid we would sometimes have cold cereal for breakfast. My mom would give each of us a banana to slice up in our bowl. I still like my cereal that way.
@fractalVisionz @Ozzie2191 @therealjrn @tweezak
We’d have bananas cut up like that on cereal (and in jello, in mixed fruit…) too.
And if you are going to fry plantain bananas that is one way to cut them up (slicing the long way is the other way I have seen it done).
@Ozzie2191 Fun fact!! Most of the ridiculous looking products that complete already easy tasks were usually invented to solve a specific issue for someone with a disability. @fractalVisionz @Ozzie2191 @therealjrn @tweezak And we sliced the banana with the spoon…
@fractalVisionz @Ozzie2191 @rustyh3 @tweezak
And wore onions on our belts, which was the fashion of the day.
Imma keep using Saran wrap

@Felton10 VMP coupon?
@Felton10 dammit, why didn’t I check this?!
@Stumpy91 Just put VMP in the coupon code in you are a VMP member.
@Perkalicious Cancel your meh order (I think you have an hour) and go over to MS to buy it.
Good eye @Felton10
@Felton10 why don’t I see these there?
@Perkalicious Looks like @Felton10 flew too close to the sun. They were over there, I remember seeing them. But I do not see them now either.
Do you have the link @Felton10?
@Felton10 @Perkalicious @therealjrn
I found the link:
but it’s too late. Sad that we’d pay more here.
@D_a_v_e Theoretically we’d pay more here. I don’t need these, I use Saran wrap if I ever need it.
$12 buys a lot of wrap.
@Felton10 or you could use the coupon you got if you happened to by the not-so random Propel drone awhile ago.
@Felton10 @Stumpy91 Imma big fan of using the VMP coupon. I’ve shopped both morningsave.com & sidedeal.com using it.
@Stumpy91 @therealjrn Sometimes when Morningsave has their 20% off coupon using that is almost as cheap as the price on meh.
@Stumpy91 This is very true. You may have flubbed this one, @Felton10 but it is wise to check over there for #mehoops pricing.
Do they come in ribbed?
@jwoody27 For her pleasure, of course.
@jwoody27 @mike808 you guyyyyyyys
Who only uses half of an avocado?
@harveydanger
@harveydanger me!
@harveydanger Me! And then I immediately use the other half!
@harveydanger bigger question: why do you need TWO avocado food savers?
@harveydanger @Joanna For different size avocados. These things rely on forming a tight seal.
Whoever is cutting their apples like that should be in jail
@Chuseph14 Easy way to spot a serial killer.
I’m not particularly fond of that name. Everytime I open the fridge door I’d be scared of this:
KuoH
in for a set
/giphy actually-greedy-titanium
@leveytation lol she isn’t only greedy she’s also stupid. look how much she missed! damned zoomers.
Solid colors sold out 15 minutes in? With only 106 sold? Sorry captain, that does not compute.
As the dad to 3 cats who love to shove their paws in my beverages, these could be very handy.
Mom’s nightly comment: “How do you people live with yourselves?!”
So, you’re substituting the purgatory of finding lids to match your spouse’s bewildering assortment of Tupperware containers, with the purgatory of finding the right fruit condom to fit your half-eaten fruit?
This may be the cabin fever talking, but these look pretty cool. Dare I say, not MEH?
Do they sell people huggers? I could use one of those post quarantine.
@mehgrl

Who is Hugh?
If you haven’t figured out a way to keep your onions and tomatoes usable without investing in this absolute manifestation of Future Regret™…you and this product belong together.
@dvermilion I agree…
but I……. am going to buy these stupid things anyway cause I have not used my vmp 5 bucks a month thingy for a while…lol
This is the best example of marketing I have seen lately. Making a product that has no chance of actually working desirable.
You know, until I saw this, it never occurred to me to just use a condom to keep half fruits and veggies fresh. Thanks, meh!
@khearn umm… condoms cost way more money and are not reusable…
@khearn @mick O’rly?
Yeah, I probably would have bought the solid colors, but marbled ones are just ygly enough to deter me. And the banana one looks RIDICULOUS!
@Kyeh The banana hugger makes me feel… inadequate…?
@shanesny then be sure to avert your eyes from the eggplant hugger…
@shanesny Well, I’m pretty sure that banana is a show-er, not a grower.
If that’s how you cut an apple in half, you’re a psychopath.
^THIS^
Is someone really likely to store TWO half-avocados at once?
@jdavis103 Shut up you aren’t my dad
@jdavis103 No, but if you’re storing only one then you’ll want one that fits.
@rpstrong Ah… two DIFFERENT sized avocado savers!
That literally doubles the likelihood that I’ll buy this…
@jdavis103 @rpstrong And you’d need it in a house full of kids because why would you possibly finish what is already “open” if you can “open” a new one. Right?
@jdavis103 I took the plunge. My default storage technique is to just set the produce on a saucer or other such dish. I’m not expecting any additional shelf life, since the leftovers already seal pretty well to the dish - but I’m sold on the compactness.
Ten for Tuesday?
This was a surprise. I thought, “this is a really personalized e-mail”, since Hugh is my name.

@ignoramus Yes, I might even admit to having more than one drawer like that. What did you use freshly grated nutmeg on? Was it a painkiller cocktail?
@ignoramus Obviously, they emptied that drawer and put them on mehrathon

@Felton10 That’s how they make their money. Saw a good deal, bought them out, and are now selling them for a profit.
[They are both divisions of M&M Enterprises - and we all get a share.]
I want one for my candy corn.
@wstull1 I think a box will do with that since if you bought it here it would have been likely bricked.

No watermelon saver? I’m out.
One watermelon hugger coming up.

I’m into it.

I am seriously mad/sad I missed these.
@patti just checked-they are on morningsave.com for $ 15 (meh sister site)
@Felton10 thank you!!
Had ordered these for more money on Amazon, found myself want more of the middle sizes so I ordered 2 more, one for me and one for my mom who lives alone. Avocado saver actually kept my avocado from going nasty brown overnight. Kinda stoked.
Oh, they are so cute, I’ll buy them on morningsave as well. Tired of using vacuum bags every time.
@75arah So, can you store spam in those bags?
@cinoclav pretty sure you can, but can is better
