“How about a little fire, Scarecrow?”
The end of the Wicked Witch’s broom crackled with flames as she prodded and poked at Dorothy’s group in their corner. The unfortunate Scarecrow who stood at the front was the first to feel the heat as it spread from the broom to his straw and to the sleeve of his tunic.
Flailing wildly, he cried, “I’m burning, I’m burning, I’m burning!”
Dorothy looked around and found within her reach a wooden pail of water on a ledge. Grabbing it quickly, she took aim at the Scarecrow as he moved about, his cries drowning out the protest of the witch standing behind him. With a single heave, she tossed the water, extinguishing her friend.
However, it did not stop there, for behind the Scarecrow was none other than the Wicked Witch herself! Thus the water sailed past him and soaked an unintended victim.
For a moment, everyone stood awkwardly, including the witch, as a sopping wet periwinkle troll sighed beside her. “You know how bad wet dog can smell? Well, wet puppet is even worse. Someone get me a towel or something,” he requested, before toddling off.
