Meh Shirt with Frosting and Sprinkles
- Do not eat no matter how delicious it looks
- Mark the momentous occasion of our second birthday
- No, seriously, we need a reminder because by this time next year we’ll be like “I dunno, what did we do for our last birthday?”
- As always with American Apparel, men’s sizes run small and women’s sizes run extra small
- The 2XL and 3XL are two bucks more because they cost us two bucks more
- Model: 2001, 2102 (a sci-fi classic and an antidepressant: somehow fitting for us)
How are we two-ing?
Hey, it’s our second birthday. Who would have thought, on that day two years ago, that we’d still be doing this today? Aside from the fact that we went through pretty much exactly this same thing ten years earlier with Woot, we mean.
But even though this reincarnation all feels vaguely familiar, it’s probably still a good time to check in and make sure our toddling website is maturing physically, emotionally, and intellectually, the way a healthy 2-year-old should. Let’s see how we compare with the recommended milestones for a child our age:
Copies others, especially adults and older children : Refer to “pretty much exactly this same thing” above. Copying, we got down. Satisfactory.
Shows defiant behavior (doing what he has been told not to) : Just ask Canon, American Lighting, or anybody else who tries to tell us what prices we should charge. Safe to say we’re defiance overachievers. Exceeds expectations.
Begins to understand basic time concepts, like “later,” “now,” or “in a minute.” : We’ve got “midnight” down cold, and we’re starting to understand time zones. Satisfactory.
Climbs onto and down from furniture without help : Usually, if you catch us before our daily three-margarita lunch. Satisfactory.
Says sentences with 3 to 4 words : Four words? Too long. Not yet. Still trying. Needs improvement.
Scribbles spontaneously : Yes, every day, but pretty much just those little faces. Satisfactory.
Finds things even when hidden under two or three covers : If you’re talking about cheap deals, yes. If you’re talking about our keys, or our phone chargers, or our thumb drives, we’re still working on it. Needs improvement.
Plays simple make-believe games : Pretty much nonstop. Our favorite make-believe game is the one where we pretend we’re doing you a favor by making you pay for a t-shirt advertising our business. Tell us that doesn’t show a healthy imagination! Exceeds expectations.
Oh, how we’ve grown! And this third year is shaping up to be the best yet. We have a feeling we’re going to nail potty training.
