Stuff in your house should look like yesterday and work like tomorrow.

It’s not a matter of taste. Humans, after a couple of centuries of industrial development, have figured out what makes gear look good. Clean but not brutal, simple but not austere, organic but not sloppy. People don’t obsess over Midcentury Modern because they miss Dwight Eisenhower. It’s because that stuff just looks fantastic.

So why does so much stuff look like gross crap now? Why can’t we have nice things? OK, sure, we’d all like to drive a car that looks like a '57 Chevy, but we don’t want '57 Chevy gas mileage or road safety. As it happens, the look of a car has a lot to do with its performance.

Not so with this Crosley Trio Bluetooth Speaker System. It sounds just as good on your desk, bookshelf, or kitchen counter as an ugly-ass “contemporary” system would. Its Bluetooth connectivity is just as convenient.

But man oh man, does it look better. So much better. The analog radio dial, the handcrafted hardwoods with walnut veneer, the rounded corners: you’ll remember why people used to sit around and watch the radio. Until a benevolent dictator forces manufacturers to turn the design clock back to 1958, this Crosley Bluetooth System will have to do.
