Ever grab some jerky at a gas station or someplace like that?

It’s like…surprisingly expensive.

It’s the kind of thing that seems like it’d be super cheap, but the next thing you know you’re spending more on your dehydrated animal bits than on your impulse gas station cupcakes, your impulse gas station energy drink, and your impulse gas station sushi combined.

(By the way, at some point it’s no longer a selection of impulse purchases and you should consider if maybe you’re just a degenerate person. No offense. Some of our favorite suppliers are degenerate people.)

And sure, the guy behind the checkout counter might impatiently mumble something about how meat reasonably costs more than individually wrapped dessert pastries and how we need to stop coming in there and yelling about it because we’re upsetting the other customers. But a drive-through burger costs like a dollar and those aren’t even subsidized by gasoline and scratch-off tickets.

What the hell?

To be fair, there is something really handy about on-the-go meat that you can grab and munch in situations where you’d usually end up scarfing down something way less healthy. This way you’re not only avoiding a PopTart’s worth of sugar or a grab-and-go egg salad sandwich’s worth of salmonella, but you’re also getting a little bit of protein and a snack that won’t make you feel like crap.

Maybe those things are worth the price of admission after all. Especially when you let us hook you up with 48 of them for a very appealing $43.99. You can make your kitchen look like a checkout counter by displaying them all at once—maybe next to your vape supplies, collection of Zippos and knockoff Viagra.

Or you can just open a pack at a time and snack accordingly. Probably just do that.

Either way, compare the sticker shock of buying these individually to today’s deal, which makes them less than a buck a piece.

Just do the math.
