We're Really Doing This Again?
When we sell a food or drink product more than once here on Meh, what we like to do is go back and take a look at the forum from the last sale and see what people had to say. So, that’s what we’re going to do today. And wow! What a discussion! More than 250 comments! Can’t wait to dig in and see some of those reviews!
Oh…
Hmmm…
Yikes…
Can we be totally honest? We sorta just thought Black Rifle Coffee was a brand that wanted to market canned mocha lattes with 200mg of caffeine to people who get a little bit of a boner every time they hear the Pledge of Allegiance. And, to be fair, we’re pretty sure they thought that’s what they were going to be as well.
Of course, as with all companies who attempt to parlay politics into profit, they found themselves aligned with some people they’d rather not align themselves with, and, in an attempt to offend no one, crafted a statement whose spinelessness offended literally everyone. The result: those who would buy it no longer wanted to buy it and those already predisposed not to buy it vowed never to buy it.
And we’re passing the savings on to you!
Something to know: we got this canned coffee from a distributor who bought it at a huge loss from Black Rifle. This means that, yes, we did indirectly help them unclog their warehouse, but they’re not getting any money from these sales.
Something else to know: despite a contentious forum, this stuff actually sold pretty well last time we offered it. And we have more. So we’re offering it again.
Look, we’ll be real here. The decision to sell this came after many internal conversations. Ultimately, we decided to try again and let you all vote with your dollars. We sell one thing a day here. If no one buys the only thing we’re offering for 24 hours, that is what we in the biz call ‘not good,’ and would definitely send the clear message that we need to stick to selling morally aboveboard coffee products in the future. You know, like weight loss coffee. Or ‘technically expired but still drinkable’ Super Coffee. Or something from a company with questionable politics who has the good sense to not use it in their marketing.
So, here goes.
