The priests continued to read the rite for exorcism, undeterred by Regan’s thrashing and cursing and unnatural noises. The temperature of the room dropped lower and lower as their breath rose like spirits from their mouths. It spat in Merrin’s face, but he kept going.
Then Regan stared down Father Karras at the other end of the bed, sensing him to be the weak link present. “Your mother sucks cocks in Hell, Karras, you faithless slime,” it goaded.
Karras glanced up, his focus momentarily broken.
