Basic Stuff
Here’s the deal: these things aren’t some amalgamation of ridiculous bullshit. They’re just milk and sugar. They’re portable, shelf-stable, and, being in individual packets, not as messy and inefficient as jarred condensed milk usually is.
Moreover, they’re well-liked by users on Amazon. In fact, they get 4.3 out of 5 based on more than 1,600 reviews.
But why do people love them so much?
Well, for starters, it’s great for when you need creamer but don’t have access to refrigeration. That’s what J.D says:
Purchased these for camping and hiking trips to have coffee on the go. Tastes great and makes it very easy to have a nice cup on the move without packing too many things.
Krisbhappy agrees, but goes on to say they’re great for more than just coffee:
I wanted cream for my coffee for a backpacking trip and while I don’t usually use any kind of sweetener, I have this a try. YUM. It was great in my coffee and in instant oatmeal and a single packet was enough for both. Also squeezed it on peanut butter for dessert. Flavor is great, portability is great. It’s on the expensive side and I’m not sure how I’ll use it all up, but still a win and I can solidly recommend!
But you don’t have to tromp around the woods to enjoy these things. You can use them for occasional indulgences right in your own home, as Donna does:
I use these for an occasional sweet iced coffee that I make at home[…] I don’t drink sweet iced coffee daily, it’s a treat for me, so I needed something single serve.
And let me say, I’m a real coffee snob. I buy single-origin beans and brew them in a Chemex every morning. I don’t usually use sugar, just a little half-and-half. But, like Donna, I enjoy an occasional cup of super sweet, super creamy coffee.
Moreover, there’s some coffee that needs an extra dose of milk and sugar to be palatable at all. Like, for example, I could see stashing a few of these in my glove compartment to mix into charred gas station coffee on road trips or in my carry-on for the vaguely coffee-flavored brown water they serve on airlines.
Point is: there are plenty of uses for some shelf-stable, single-serve packets of cream-and-sugar.
So get some! You’ll probably like them!
