If in Kansas or Texas would probably be steak, unless down by the gulf, then seafood again. Only place I ever had “blackened” done right. Well, Louisiana too — just spent more time in Texas long ago so it’s what I remember.
@pmarin The last time I was in Kansas City, we went looking for a steakhouse and came up dry. This was well after the plague year, and I had expected that some of them would not have survived that, but there were almost none left except for a couple of upper-end places that we couldn’t afford.
Since I am celebrating, I choose the best seafood restaurant I can find. This means traveling from the landlocked city I am in to a coastal city. Again I am the one celebrating, so I get to choose.
I’m wouldn’t be shocked that my choice of a vegetarian meal would be in last place in the poll… Seriously, some of the best food I’ve ever had cross my lips came from a great vegetarian restaurant. Some talented chefs out there for sure!! So far, y’all have (pleasantly) surprised me!

Actually I take that back since there is all the hypothetical. I’d order a perfectly seasoned crawfish boil. Because CRAWFISH!

Not an easy answer; so many variables…. Time of year, time of day, where you’re at, who’s with you.
I look at the dessert menu first, and then I order my meal
