So I see all you PRESIDENT TRUMP hating liberal-ass hippies also like to smoke a lot of pot. Not surprised at all. And that’s not an attack. I just found it interesting.
@Dizavid I’m interested in marijuana awareness and I’ve never had the slightest interest in using it (even though honestly it might do me some good). But it’s something that a lot of people in our country are at odds over, so learning about it is good for us all. But I checked dog training as it’s dear to my heart. I wanted to vote Mardi Gras, but too many people can’t party all the way through February.
How could condoms possibly win out over national pie month? If pie does not end up the winter then I am disappointed in everyone who frequents this website.
@melonscoop I was just commenting to my kid the other day I’ve been craving pie lately. I haven’t made a pie since probably the 1990’s (am a meh cook). But I’ve been trying to learn new recipes the last couple years as I’ve been teaching the teen to cook. Now it looks like Feb will be the perfect time to learn how to make pies again.

After losing control of my car for the second time in several weeks because of the weather, where the first time was because of sleet from the previous day, but the second time was because my street wasn’t plowed (with the exception of my street and an adjoining street which weren’t plowed, the streets were clean), which resulted in my ending up on part of a driveway and narrowly missing a tree, yet hitting a garbage can with the mirror in the driver’s door, I can finally say this:
I REALLY don’t like snow.
I don’t like snow most of the time anyways, but this is just another year to add to the list of years where something happened to make me not like snow more than I already do.
@PlacidPenguin If your street isn’t plowed and you have trouble driving in snow, why not drive slower? Your hatred of snow also has caused me to seriously doubt that you are actually a penguin.
@2many2no It’s pretty. Also, this year we didn’t get enough to make our snowman army so my house is undefended.
@2many2no My not - iceplant is full of pretty orange flowers. But my trees don’t have leaf eggs yet, so they are being cautious this year. Shhh, they’re still sleeping, the sun hasn’t gotten to them yet to wake them up.
@PlacidPenguinIf you are driving fast enough to lose control, you need to drive slower. It doesn’t matter how fast you were going relative to your normal speed, if you can’t control your car you are a danger to yourself and others. It is not the weather’s fault, it’s yours.
@PantHeist
I couldn’t go any slower though. See, what I neglected to mention is that there was a hill involved. In order to go UP the hill, SOME speed needs to be given. And that’s what I did.
Unfortunately though, the bare minimum speed needed for this particular hill was enough to make me hit some ice and slide.
@PlacidPenguin You’re wrong to try to say this is somehow not your fault. If you want the last word, reply to this because I’m done.
edit: your habit of unannounced edits after someone has replied.
How about “just a month”? All these “awareness months” are stupid. So it’s like you should be aware of something for one month and disregard it for the rest of the year? I call it bullshit and hypocrisy.
@serpent I agree on your principle but I look at it more like annual refresher training: I do not want to take “handling workplace violence” and “export control law” training every month. Once a year helps me to remember the rest of the year what to do/not do. So heart month and black history month are like that: focusing a bit on a topic I should know about so I can use that knowledge throughout the year. Now pie month is just silly: who eats pie just in February, and no one needs to be educated on how good it is. But I still voted for it: as I said somewhere else in this thread, I haven’t made a pie in like 20 years. Now I know magazines will publish some good pie recipes in Feb and I can try my hand at it again.
@mollama I like pie month, taco day, donut month, because the places that sell those things have specials to celebrate. They invent the celebration to give them an excuse to have a sale. I’ll take that.
We need more months so we can space this shit out a bit…
So I see all you PRESIDENT TRUMP hating liberal-ass hippies also like to smoke a lot of pot. Not surprised at all. And that’s not an attack. I just found it interesting.
@Dizavid
I got a PM on Woot from somebody who wished for you to see this. It’s about a record which Trump broke.
@PlacidPenguin That’s because unlike all his recent predecessors, Trump gets shit done.
@Dizavid for a second, I thought this pro Trump comment was going to be about it being black history month. phew
@Dizavid emphasis on shit
I find it interesting how people get from point A to point B sometimes.
@Dizavid I prefer feeding birds, but you should try some pot. Might calm you down a bit.

@moondrake
Don’t forget National February Month, the one month we set aside to celebrate the month of February.
@awk technically it is International February month.
I count down the days to the end of February.
Most upsetting month for me.
@PlacidPenguin
?
@PlacidPenguin For me it’s probably second only to January.
@PlacidPenguin March.

@mollama Looking at that pie and seeing how it sees the world - you know things are going to turn out okay.
Apparently February is also Canned Food Month. It doesn’t get more exciting than that.
Winter Is Nearly Over in Texas Month.
(Daffodils are up, they’ll bloom in a couple of weeks.)

@PlacidPenguin With the possible exception of skiing, snow has very little to like about it.

@PantHeist
I have no “hatred” of anything. Just immensely intense dislike of stuff.
And I WAS driving slow. I was going half the speed that I usually go.
@PlacidPenguin not slow enough if you lost control
@moondrake pretty!
@PantHeist
I was going 1/2 my usual speed for this street. That’s slow for me.
Probably shoulda gotten a small besides for the medium. @narfcake

I tried.

Anyways…
It’s cold here. I don’t like the cold.

@PantHeist
I get your point. And there are some surfaces on which .001 mph is unsafe.
However, blaming the weather is a time-honored “pass-the-buck” tradition here and I honor that tradition.
Don’t mess with my traditions.
Vote Pie
@daveinwarsh
Pie->Pi->Raspberry Pi->Free and Open-source Software
Yep, that’s what I voted.
Anybody available to help me become aware of marijuana??
I’m pretty sure I’m unaware.
Yep, I am.
@mimsy Yes. I’m here for you.
To help dissuade you from the evil weed, here’s actual film footage with proof of it’s evil.
I just hope this has helped.
And… I can’t remember most of the concerts I went to in the 60’s & early 70’s.
@daveinwarsh
You’ve scared me straight!!!

@serpent
How about “Pointless awareness” awareness month?
But yeah, I agree with you.
@PlacidPenguin That would be very existentialist, I approve! We should be all aware of the pointlessness of it all.
@serpent I agree on your principle but I look at it more like annual refresher training: I do not want to take “handling workplace violence” and “export control law” training every month. As my daughter once said to me: “Everyone likes pie.”
@droopus pie day is in March
@droopus
Here ya go:
@Thumperchick - Wanna fix it?
@PlacidPenguin done
@CaptAmehrican

@CaptAmehrican @droopus @narfcake
I love pie…
Black Software month!
Wait wait… condom month? Is there gonna be a ball?
Cheap chocolate day February 15
@CaptAmehrican
I had to Google to see what was around that time.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@ELUNO scapegoat reign
@CaptAmehrican Noooooooooooooooo
@ELUNO You just cannot escape it…
The “I’m spending almost half of it on ski vacations” month. Yay!!!
One good thing about February this year (besides the fact that I’m alive) is that I get to blame @ELUNO for stuff.
Mardi Gras, I like to celebrate it ALL month!!
