@heartny Hah - you made me watch that. That would be a nice feature!
I watched the second one too, while I was at it, and I really liked the sound effects.
Interesting Water and Dirt!
IF your gonna Mop the floor, mop it with a mop
Bet cleaning this nasty filthy critter after a few months usage should be an absolute blast. Dried gunk, wet gunk, it should be just about ready for the dumpster about the time the warranty is up!!
@bobthenormal Yes, it appears that some functions don’t work without Internet - it’s probably one of those.
Although what I’ve seen of LIDAR robot vacuum maps, it’s barely possible to tell that you’re looking at your house from the vacuum’s perspective. Obstacles even a few inches high turn into walls to it.
There’s an open-source project called Bumper that aims to be a standalone and self-hosted implementation of the central server used by Ecovacs vacuum robots.
However, it hasn’t been tested with this model, and it appears that it was last updated 4 years ago. https://github.com/bmartin5692/bumper
P.S. I’m unclear whether this model has a camera, and how the camera is oriented, if present. I know it says “visual”, but that could include infrared rangefinders.
I was in a very shitty hotel for a conference (thankfully not overnight) where I met the love of my life. We hit it off over the “are you fucking seeing this?” look we gave each other when an employee went from mopping the tile in front of the elevators right to the carpet in the hallway without missing a beat.
I bought this from Amazon and was very happy with the performance, but the screws on the water reservoir keep rusting. Yeedi sent me two new water reservoirs and then a whole new machine and they all rusted. They finally sent me a M12 to replace the cube which is working great. While I would not recommend the Cube, Yeedi support was great!
I own the N8 Pro+ and have been very pleased with the build quality of the machine itself. However, the app, and specifically the ability to edit the map, were designed by drunken AI chat bots whose GPUs are covered in dust and sitting in direct sunlight.
Does this model use a different app to control the machine?
I just got mine today (thanks Meh! for delightfully fast turnaround) and the Yeedi seems worlds beyond the bump and clunk 600-series Roomba I’ve had for years. However, my Roomba has been dead reliable and I’ve never had to do anything to it aside from light maintenance. We shall see, Yeedi…
Assembly was quick and fairly intuitive and the quick guide was surprisingly well conceived. The manual, perhaps less so, but it’s ok. The docking station is a big boy and quite tall, so I had to get creative with placement. I still need to look up some basics like how the mop attachment works.
This new guy mapped the rooms for the first time today and was so efficient. It seems to have had some connectivity issues after reattaching to the base station - the vacuum went offline and I had to power cycle it to get it back on the network.
The base station makes a loud whoosing when the vac empties which scared the heck out of my cat. It also talks to you when various things happen, which my cat found sus.
If it performs as well as it did today my Roomba may be out of a job. However, I suspect I will keep it around since it does work and requires no app, no sync, etc. Because of how efficient it runs I think I will likely have the robot run more often, and I am looking forward to seeing how well it mops.

Nice that it can make wet dirt.
Can it hover like in the first video?
@heartny Hah - you made me watch that. That would be a nice feature!
I watched the second one too, while I was at it, and I really liked the sound effects.
It’ll go 5 years on a charge?
@jrpmcafee Man, you’re right! It’s worth it just for the battery.

EASY Pass

Looks like a VERY DIRTY shade of “White” to me!!
(It’s only white in the video and the mop pad underneath!!)
@MrGoodGuy whoops!
@MrGoodGuy @troy is that a
/youtube paler shade of white
A vacuum with water, Just what a wall-to-wall carpeted house needs.
Is this the one that stops functioning if you block it from sending a map of your house to china?

Looks like a combination laser printer and murderbot.
@pmarin that’s what I was actually looking for … Meh, let me know when you sell one of those.
Will it avoid poop on the floor?
@jcoleman Probably not - you should stick to using the toilet.

Don’t mop carpets, kids.
@KNmeh7 That’s quite the “meet cute” story!

@dgray67 One wonders why they never switched to stainless steel screws. Management or communications issue, I guess.

@user64007247 I believe you can use either the Ecovacs or the Yeedi app

Definite improvement since old days. Haven’t mopped yet. Still mapping and cleaning. So far so good.
