WootAzon
0Is it true that Woot is a subsidiary of Amazon? Usually it's a good rule to never believe what you hear from a rapping monkey puppet. But in this case, yes, Woot is an independent subsidiary of Amazon. No, we don't get an Amazon discount. So stop asking, Mom.
@snapster Maybe not so independent anymore?

Woot was started by Matt Rutledge, aka @snapster. Amazon bought Woot in 2009 and continued to run the company until 2011 (kinda'). Amazon has been doing their damnedest to ruin it ever since.
If @snapster sounds familiar, it's because he also started A Very Mediocre Corporation (parent company of Meh.com). I bet he doesn't sell it this time.
EDIT: Nevermind, I see that there was something to read :)
Woot was independent in theory, but Amazon had a lot of say in things at Woot from the beginning. Most of those decisions turned away a lot of loyal fans. In recent years, they've become the dumping grounds for junk Amazon doesn't want to sell
What's Woot?
@therealjrn @snapster @thumperchick
I think it's a kind of foreign sausage.
Either that, or it is the sound a 3 headed jakalope makes when it's messing with @narfcake's t-shirts.
(And yes, I'll continue to find things to ruin the collection)
@FroodyFrog Oh, so that's why one of my catshirts has a hole at the neckline.
(Neckstretch Anvil, so meh. I'll just cut into a tank or something.)
@narfcake
You'd think you'd have noticed a 3 headed jackalope ;)
(@mfladd -since in the past you have made old conversations between @narfcake and myself resurface, I am putting this here for the future: I am not readily responsible for any direction this may develop due to my mind being on avacation and my body holding a strike)
@FroodyFrog I didn't know our conversations had any direction to begin with!
@FroodyFrog Hey! I don't have 3 heads! Except for when I'm sleep deprived...
@narfcake
I'm not sure if I did. I'll check my notes.

OK, I just looked at my notes, and I don't have it recorded as such.
Cuz your Woot shirt came in an Amazon bag?
@medz Never had that happen before.
They always came in the custom Shirt.Woot bags.
@2many2no Me too. They've probably gone the way of the custom woot shipping boxes.
I've had a couple catshirtswoot arrive in Amazon bags before. All my recent ones have been shirt.woot bags, though.
The return address that says Amazon instead of Woot.com - that's a recent change.
As for leaving Woot alone ... one of the earliest Amazon changes was moving the creative team from St. Louis to Seattle. IIRC, 13 employees and their families made the move; I'm unsure how many are left.
I believe @dave and @shawn has since moved back to STL.
@narfcake Let's Go Blues!
@shawn Wait... what?
There may be a nucleus of Stars fans here.
Still, having grown up with the Blues, I find I still can not root against them to this day.
@shawn
You can order woot shirts through their Amazon storefront. I would think that's how you end up with this particular bag/return address.
@Thumperchick But if I order a Woot shirt from Amazon, do I get Prime shipping and triple points on my card? I've always ordered from Shirt.Woot.
@Thumperchick One of my previous orders of Coffee Stain Cats was via Amazon because the size wasn't available to order at woot. It still arrived in a shirt.woot bag.
On that note, Amazon Merch is IMHO turning into a clusterfuck. Design thieves have since used the platform for some of Fishbiscuit's and Ramy's designs. Fishie's were shirt.woot designs, so that got handled, but for Ramy/TeeTurtle, I told him to get his legal involved.
@2many2no They're mostly $15 free shipping, but not Prime shipping. I believe you'd get triple points, however. I can't remember the rules...if it has to be "fulfilled by amazon" or what...
I hate to say it, but at this point I'd prefer they be more like amazon. They lost all the woot plus sides anyway, so if they got amazon support people and return policies I'd actually start checking there from time to time again. As is it's just the worst of both worlds.
