Will someone explain to me what the fuko went on last night at midnight
2I told my wife that I thought there was pretty good chance a fuko would appear on April 1 given that the last one was 45 days ago.
So at the stoke of midnight I went on meh (the website not the drug). I was right I clicked on the buy button and nothing happened. The I noticed it was dead and some white ball was moving around the screen. Then some creepy looking asshole came on the screen and started screaming jiberish. I thought to myself-what is Donald Trump doing on meh. After refocusing, I realized it was only someone who reminded me of Trump-it was Irk.
I started going through the questions and wouldn’t you know it-it took me 4 tries on each of the first 2 to pick the right answer. I finally figured out your did’t have to go back to the beginning if you got one wrong-only hit the go back button. I finally got the end at 12:20, but all were gone. Got up at 8:00 this morning but there were none to be had.
Didn’t see how many fukos were sold so my questions are:
-
Am I dreaming all this?
-
Does anybody else think Irk looks likes Donald Trump?.
-
Was this a big April Fools Joke?
4.What the fuk when on last night?

If you watched the video all the way through, there was a multiple choice option. (For some reason, my system had no sound, so I had no idea what Irk was saying.)
Clicking the correct answer in the video, took you to another video. Clicking one of the three incorrect answers sent you to Meh’s youtube page. The videos were on Meh’s sister site, morningsave.com.
After a few of these types of videos, you had the option to buy the fuku or make your own from the product morningsave had available on those pages.
Also, it sold out in about 15 minutes. Morningsave doesn’t have a circuit breaker, so there are no holdbacks and also no statistics.
@djslack And that was a sneaky trick to make sure the hold out VMP’s get less and less value and so drop it (grin) Right @snapster?
@Kidsandliz On the other hand, it meant VMPs only paid 4.50 for this one.
@djslack yeah no hold backs so VMP didn’t get to try at 8 am or 4 pm est today
that wasn’t a funny joke as meh changed how we can buy fukobukuros and made a hold back “trip” EXCEPT for this one…meh sad
@AttyVette back in the day, there were no circuit breakers even for vmps. This was refreshing.
@medz oh I remember as I lamented meh doing this and still don’t like it-- however they changed the rules and said it was now going to be like this (I.e. Trip breaker so other people can try for fukoboros at 8 and 4 ) and then they went against the rules :(but it is their mehright to do whatever they want to do…
@AttyVette Yup. And…

/giphy don’t like it, get out
@djslack Circuit breaker wouldn’t have worked well with the quiz show type format anyway. You could have gotten to the page and let it sit there until 8am or 4pm then just hit refresh like any other fuku.
@Pantheist I agree. That is possible, although there are ways around that as well. It’s entirely likely that if there was a later release of stock it would have gone in seconds like a traditional offering.
I was explaining, not complaining
@medz Circuit breakers on fukos are good for people with fast computers or tricky skills and are bad for loyal mehtizens who check at midnight. I’m not a fan.
@djslack gotcha
@sammydog01
I am a fan. And I lack fast connections, fast computers, and tricky skills. I just like extra chances. Ya never know.
@f00l It’s not extra chances if you lack the computer connections- it’s a lower chance of buying one initially and a lot of crying at 8 and 4.
@sammydog01
I kinda understand that I make no sense.
/image all a dream

The first fukO was April fools day 2 years ago so it seemed likely they’d celebrate that anniversary. Not sure if there was one then last year.
@Kidsandliz Last year was the page of captchas. It was incredibly popular.

/giphy rage
@sammydog01 That was my biggest fear lasts night. I hopped on my computer instead of using my phone just in case it was some sort of captcha hell again. Turned out to be the right move anyway.
@sammydog01 Please don’t remind me of that night. I rarely get mad at shopping sites but that captcha crap, that didn’t work even when I figured it out and did it properly, almost gave me a nervous breakdown…lol. I thought it was funny at first…that didn’t last long. I went from, well this is kind of clever to which hell spawn came up with this torture in a matter of seconds. Needless to say Meh and I took a short break in our relationship. Luckily neither of us slept with the copier girl during this time
@mehbee +1 to shit that needs to stay buried. That captcha crap drives me up the wall whenever I see it; after being the defacto tech support for dozens of family members that are baby boomers, captcha stopped being funny years ago. This year’s April fools was hilarious though, almost woke up the house with my laughing.
@seraphimcaduto I completely slept through the entire thing this year.
@mehbee
When I came online Saturday evening, I nodded appreciatively at the creativity not just at the whole video thing, but with the DIY concept (as well as several “extra” pages of items).
interested in this meh drug?
@meh Or meth or maybe just a byproduct of watching too many reruns of Breaking Bad getting ready for the new season of Better Call Saul.
Yeah. It was an odd one. I looked up at the clock & saw it was 9:00 (pacific time) so I grabbed the laptop & clicked to meh.
I got the video followed by the questions. I picked correctly all three times. This made me wonder if any answer would have worked. It led to the Fuko at the end, that I clicked on. This took me to Morningsave.
What? I guess I haven’t been keeping up on Meh-news or something. It asked if I want to join Morningsave or something. I clicked to just send the damn thing. Anyway, I clicked on it & it went through.
@daveinwarsh I got every answer wrong on the first 2 questions so every answer did not work. By the time I finally got through all 3 questions-it said it was SOLD OUT. So very interested to see what you get and if it is regular fuko. Too complicated to 12 midnight. At that time-only have enough brain power to get to the website and click on “buy”.
The tldr; version:
You could buy a Fuko for $5.
Or you could buy a Fuko bag for $6 and then buy crap to fill it with yourself.
I did both.
@Collin1000 Did you get a tiki mug? Or is it going to be a surprise?
@Collin1000 I’m not sure I had the option to buy the $5, I did but the $6… did I need to do something more? or am I getting an empty bag? lol. I was so excited, it’s my birthday today so I had an inkling since they did one with street signs last year.
@Jeepersca The $6 is indeed an empty bag that you have to assemble yourself. Happy birthday though!
@sammydog01 Tiki mug was sold out when I looked.
@Jeepersca Yes, you got an empty, unassembled bag. Happy birthday! Fill the bag with your birthday wishes.
@Jeepersca
@thismyusername Thanks!!!

@Collin1000 Why-maybe the bag you paid $ 6 for was included in the fuko. I would have considered myself lucky to get the fuko and quit while I was ahead…
The neato idea at the time didn’t scale
By the time you bought a $ 6 bag and filled it with $ 3 shit-you really would be fucked.
Next year’s april fools idea: SUPER-minimal 90’s HTML that loads really fast and doesn’t have any videos or stylesheets or javascript of any kind.
I got there way late, but there was a quick way to get all the right answers. Hovering your mouse over each option let’s you see where they will take you. I did that and just clicked the one that was different.
All the Youtube ones I was expecting to be a certain famous '80s song to be honest. Didn’t click them though, because you can’t give up what you never had…
