What should we do with all this cardboard?
6So, a bunch of us just got really neat Varidesk adjustable standing desk modules.

That is not what this post is about.

You see, the Varidesks came with a lot of cardboard protective packing material. I was considering just gathering all of it to build a fort, but I'd figure I'd pose the question to you, our community: What the hell should we do with all this cardboard before we have it recycled like responsible citizens of Earth?
Myself? I'm itching for a fight.

Build various items of armor, and related weaponry, then send those in 2 fuku bag. Allow said recipients a chance to meet, and battle until one is gloriously defeated!
Coincidentally, Gizmodo mentioned this today.
@editorkid Of course the Germans would've had a popular game called The Game of Besieging.
Send it to unixrab.
@hallmike ^^^This!
@hallmike
@hallmike Great minds think alike.
Build a couple of cardboard boats and have a race.
I, for one, would take the larger chunks of cardboard and draw random people/situations on them with a hole cut out. Then have staff take pictures of themselves in each cut out. Post on forums. Profit. Send them out to have other Mehricans post pictures.
Sleds. Add a snow-machine. And a hillside.
Now that you have the desks,
Fill the boxes with interesting and useful stuff and then send them to the people that have been waiting months for their Fuku's that never seem to ship.
make these:

I need 90 of them for my children's play Wizard of Oz
@mikibell - You have 90 Mad Hatters?
@KDemo 90 Ozians and Munchkins..my own children are a talking tree, an Ozian, a jitterbug and THE guard to Oz, as well as the big baby being a Winky guard. I have to make 5 costumes!
@mikibell - Wow, you have your hands full. I just looked at those top hats and saw the Mad Hatter, oops, but I love Wizard of Oz. Sounds like an incredible production.
@KDemo It is fun..every child who tries out gets a part - thus the large number of ozians and munchkins. There are close to 100 kids in this year's play. Beauty and the Beast was most challenging because every child had at least 2 costumes each. I made hundreds of costumes that year!
@jralexander418
@kadagan that reminds me of the Mediocre Labs page for some reason.
@kadagan Why are some cats moving and some aren't? I'm concerned about the ones that are perfectly still.
@jqubed Was wondering the same. I think the answer is glue. Or staples.
Build cardboard chairs!
Step 1: Make a bigger box out of the smaller ones
Step 2: Climb in said box
Step 3: Bring your phone, and hide there all day
Step 4: ???
Step 5: Profit, or get fired--I'm not sure which.
Build a huge playhouse for kitties!
Should this really be a question? -> Transmogrifier
@thrashsoundly ooh yeah, then we can turn it over to make it a time machine
@harrison Exactly.
Labyrinth.
As an undergrad I built larger than life sculpture using only cardboard and glue. Surprisingly, cardboard paired with a hot glue gun makes for some sturdy construction. It took a baseball bat to deconstruct (fire was off the table for safety reasons, meh.)

@jimmyd103 wow
@jimmyd103 You win the Internet today and the Sculpturenet back when you did that.
@jimmyd103 It's so sad that you had to deconstruct it at all. :(
@jimmyd103 http://makezine.com/craft/massive_cardboard_fountain_scu/
@mikibell @editorkid I wish I could claim to be the sculptor of both of those but sadly mine really looked more like this...
@jimmyd103 still better than I could create..
@jimmyd103 Oh. Uh. Well, then, you win your, um, post. Still nice.
@editorkid Lol. Thanks.... I think
Looks like @snapster has some extra time on his hands; give it to him for disposal.
I just drug it out to the hallway, marked it basura and it was gone the next day. The varidesk is great though
Slide a couple of those IPS Monitors I needed into that box and send it to my primary shipping address. I bet they'll fit just fine.
you cant go wrong with a bonfire.
@Headly + insurance claim for the speaker docks?
@AlohaSnackbar seems a cunning plan
@AlohaSnackbar those are load bearing speaker dock walls!!!!
I say go with your original idea - cardboard forts. Then cardboard armor and weapons and have battles. Use the mini quad copters to launch aerial assaults.
@Bingo Use white socks for inside snowball fights!
@Bingo Don't forget the roombas with knives!
send it all to some un-expecting Meh member........
Maybe you could build another Rockridge?

Oops. Should have said Rock Ridge.
@KDemo But where will they find the rustlers, cut throats, murderers, bounty hunters, desperados, mugs, pugs, thugs, nitwits, halfwits, dimwits, vipers, snipers, con men, Indian agents, Mexican bandits, muggers, buggerers, bushwhackers, hornswogglers, horse thieves, bull dykes, train robbers, bank robbers, ass-kickers, shit-kickers and Methodists?
@parodymandotcom Congress?
@parodymandotcom @mehjohnson should be able to help out there.
@lisaviolet
@mehjohnson
@jqubed Naturally another fave of mine!
@KDemo Never mind that shit, here comes Mongo!
Build a restaurant. http://www.bitrebels.com/lifestyle/cardboard-design-elegant-restaurant/
Tomorrows deal.
@er1c Scary thing is, people would probably buy them.
@er1c Made me think of this:
@TheCO2 Free shipping with VMP!
I think you should make a bunch of Google Cardboard headsets and give them out to us :)

I put cardboard on the floor of my office because I have a Jenday Conure that will fly around all day while I'm working. He may poop on the floor so it acts as a nice floor protector and I can easily change out the cardboard when it gets soiled.
Studies have shown that open floor plans lead to decreased productivity. Source: http://www.newyorker.com/business/currency/the-open-office-trap
You should probably use that cardboard to build cubicles for your customer service team.
@phatmass it's okay, @j-sh and @harrison just use headphones to block out my incessant blabbering.
@katylava is that like blabbering with your brother?
@phatmass i had to have @harrison explain your pun to me.
@katylava You guys are so cray cray!
Call art teachers at schools… they take an amazing collection of stuff if there is enough of it for a class project.
how about playing crossbows and catapults in real life?
