@macromeh
That works great for “Eno” style hammocks but not so much for those shorter 7 ft models with a spreader bar. The latter is what I have on the porch in front of my pool house.
@kuoh@macromeh
Both the pool and the pool house are over 10 years old and each cost about what I paid for my house in '88… an acre of property and a house that desperately needed updating/repair. Over the years I totally remodeled/repaired/re-plumbed/re-wired it stick by stick (myself) so it’s value has appreciated by a factor of 10+. It is also paid for (owner held the note on it for the first 3 years till we paid it off) and taxes in Alabama on property are crazy low. My overhead is pretty minimal.
@chienfou@kuoh Yeah, having no mortgage is a big advantage.
My wife and I each owned a house when we married. We parlayed those into enough cash to buy some acreage and build a new house on it. When we moved in (28 years ago), it was all paid for - no mortgage. Just maintenance, insurance and property taxes since then. Sweet…
@chienfou@kuoh@sillyheathen Hmm, I’ve never considered “group hammocking”… Mine is strung between two large maple trees ~40ft north of the house. Lots of shade in the summer months - nice for afternoon naps.
I tried sleeping in the hammock overnight (warm summer nights) a couple of times but the stupid roosters crowing at daylight woke me up.

Here in Central Alabama once the mosquitoes were done with you there’d be nothing left but your skin in the hammock by daybreak…
Poor gal in the banner has THREE arms to get sore muscles in.
@Kyeh
One of them doesn’t look very functional.
Growing that 3rd arm is killer.
Feels like it cost me a leg.
Napping
The heat! I hate every minute of it.
@Tadlem43 ibid.
@Tadlem43
Boo!
Hammock time.
Feels comfy enough to nap in but leaves you sore as hell when you get out…
@chienfou Are you using the proper technique? IME, it makes a big difference in comfort.

@chienfou @macromeh Well aren’t we all fancy schmancy with not only a pool, but another house and porch to go with it!

@chienfou @kuoh @macromeh the hammock time is some of my favorite time! I’m actually setting up hammock village today!

STOP
TIME!
@chienfou @kuoh @sillyheathen
Nice!
Coincidentally, I took this photo of the view from my hammock yesterday, but hadn’t gotten around to posting it.
@chienfou @kuoh @sillyheathen
Ah, but that’s why I also have a rain fly w/netting that I can string over my hammock…

@chienfou @kuoh @macromeh
Exactly! I have bug nets and rain flies for all of the hammocks.
@kuoh @macromeh @sillyheathen
OK… that’s a whole different matter… carry on!
