Summer sucks. On the rare days where it’s not too hot outside to do anything, there are too many flying insects for any outdoor activities to be fun and I’m allergic to mosquitos.

Rain took a few days to arrive, almost ruining the fireworks show; but also almost-ruining the fireworks show: triple-digit heat for the 2nd day in a row.
@f00l We had some rain last week, but this whole week is just going to be infernally dry and hot.
I’m glad you got rain, I’m sure it’s needed there too.
My wife is the head honcho for the fabric arts section of the local county fair. Today is the day that the displays of all the submissions are set up. Guess who gets roped into that crew? (I already had to pull all the display hardware out of storage and haul it to the fairgrounds yesterday.)
At least it’s only supposed to reach ~85F today.
@macromeh well, I guess you need to read the Extra Fine print. When you said “I Do” you don’t get roped into stuff, you get VoluntTOLD. that you just Volunteered to do this & that. Of course you do have a choice, BUT …
The weather forecast for Houston today (one of them, anyway) is a high of 82F and damp enough to grow mushrooms on your windows. Current temp is - WTF??? - 74F? At just after 1PM in effing JULY?
I find it difficult to complain about weather that’s unseasonably temperate, but I have to wonder how pissed off the owners of this weather will be when they find out where it got delivered. It sure as hell isn’t ours!
@Kyeh@werehatrack My son relocated to upper, upper NY state this last summer after spending his almost three decades in central Texas where he has seen real snow once or twice. I’ve always been amused looking at the weather reports to see it hitting 40 or 50 degrees lower there than here, including some negative readings.
But today was surprised to see it almost 10 degrees warmer there than here. First time we’ve had a day’s high temperature in the 70s on this date since 1967! (We have had days of rain and today broke the official 24-hr record rainfall total by more than half an inch. Luckily, I’m not in a flood-prone area. People west of Austin have not been so fortunate.)
I’ve been around long enough to know this won’t last, so will enjoy it while it stays. Grass is tall and very green and seems happy. But also know some dedicated lawn mowing will be necessary soon, and sure heat and humidity will be back up to their usual extremes by then.
@phendrick@werehatrack The weather just seems bonkers anymore. I doubt that it’s going to go back to the previous patterns in the future, but who knows!
It is summer. Every time I take the dog for a normal walk I have to change my clothes when I get home because they are wet from sweat! Come on dog…pee…poo…lets get back inside!!! At least we have a town pool.

I think there should be at least 2 answers. First heat, then rain, followed by heat, humidity and mosquitoes. Then repeat.

We just had several days of rain. Which is lovely. The rest of thever will be cooler than normal ahd the fire risk decreases.
V unusual locally for July.

I love the heat. It’s 100 today and I’m about to go float in the lake. It sure beats winter.

The 4th was crazy. Our phones sitting on a table in the shade all day, started giving us trouble! They were too hot to work right!
