That’s a high price for a contraption I’ve done just fine without to this day, i mean night, since it’s 1:51 AM CST!! I do have a few binders, but so far, i ain’t blended nuttin in none of’em! So, for that reason, I’m out!! I do need a self-flushing toilet though,…at least i Would use it daily!
Looks like it’s about $10 for shipping. Glad to have vmp. Still gonna pass here. The dinky immersion blender my wife had to have is in the basement or attic somewhere.
Why is Vitamix stuff so expensive? I picked up a Ninja system immersion blender that converts to a hand mixer with real beater/whipping inserts + a great chopper I use all the time + covered blending cup for $56 and tax on sale a couple years ago. This is twice as much on Meh after its ‘discount’ and looks half as good. Those single whisk attachment type things are pretty useless. I don’t use the hand mixer features often but it’s nice to have real ones available. The Ninja chopper blade is their multi blade up the center post type as opposed to this wimpy looking one from Vitamix. This deal is truly Meh with a Feh! to boot.
@babakool Vitamix is the OG instagram mom-fluencer brand. That’s why it’s so expensive. This is the most Meh deal I’ve seen since the Verbatim branded stuff last week. To say, it’s been a Meh last 3 months is not exaggerating.
@babakool@user87647985 Vitamix is the OG of commercial-grade blenders that ended up on people’s home counters. Vita-Prep is their commercial trademarked products.
The reason they are that expensive is so that when the prep cook comes in at 6am and uses it until lunch service, every day, for years… it works. And if it doesn’t, it is under warranty.
So you may be right that influencer moms brought it to the tik tok, but if you gave even the slightest shit about cooking decades before “influencers” were a thing, you owned a vitamix or at least wanted one.
That rant aside… their trademark is gold standard with stand blenders. It makes sense they would make a decent immersion blender. Decent enough licensing marriage. Unlike seeing Ferrari-branded shoes.
@babakool@KNmeh7@user87647985 I’ve owned 2 vitamix blenders, the first one for 10 years, which I only sold after buying a new one with a variable speed control. I got good money for it, because they are tanks and hold their value. I’ve had the “new” one for 10 years and use it for everything from grinding lentils and rice for dosa batter, so making smoothies. I expect to hand it down to my daughter.
I’ve also used a ninja, because my mom has one. It’s cheap feeling, imprecise in its operation, and will not survive the things I’ve put ol’ vitamix through.
Vitamix blenders are a buy it for life thing - and as you said respected by chefs because of their reliable operation - absolutely worth the price.
Not sure if the immersion blender is the same, but I’m considering it pending some review reading - as my shitty cuisinart immersion blender’s plastic started coming apart after only a year.
@jchasma So far only that it’s more powerful than most others. Unfortunately the red is sold out, and my vitamix is red, and I’m weirdly obsessed with having red appliances.
@babakool Watch for deals, but also they offer refurbs (still with lifetime warranties) for a bit cheaper. They really are lifetime tools; you have to work hard to do non-fixable damage to it. Unlike so many other home blenders, burning out the motor is next to impossible, first because they have oodles more horsepower and the wire gauge to support that, but also because they monitor the coil temperatures and auto-shutdown long before they get hot enough to damage things.
And of course because they’re designed to last, there’s a healthy aftermarket for replacement parts.
Electric or battery powered? In the last photo, a cord is seen going from the hand held blender into her hand. Does it come with a port for our bodies?
@mediocrebot@mycya4me Those things are obviously for the humans elsewhere; they contain insufficient meat. I wonder what the humans did to merit this action, and I have to wonder what undisclosed extra features may have been added.
I think it is interesting how much the cord is de-emphasized in almost all corded immersion blender promo photos I see. Easy to mistake it for a wireless unit if one is being careless.
Vitamix is a premium brand and like many premium brands they’ll stand behind their product to a much greater degree than insert-random-letters-imported-brand-name-here. I got a countertop Vitamix almost 20 years ago. It was very expensive, but we’re on our second container and third power base and we haven’t paid another dollar. When we start running into problems, I reach out to support and am polite and they take care of me.
That said, I don’t use my immersion blender very often and I’ll take my chances with the much cheaper unit I already have.
Here’s another ‘upvote’ for Vitamix as a brand. Our countertop blender is a beast and has worked flawlessly for several years.
My only concern would be whether there is an issue with meh being an “authorized dealer”. I have had that be a warranty buster on occasion (granted for other brands…)
Another Vitamix fan (and full size blender owner) here. I missed it yesterday, read it this morning, then came back to buy this and they’re all gone. I do hope they come up again.
I’ve had a similarly equipped Panasonic that I bought here almost 11 years ago that has served me well, but I was about to succumb to the temptation to upgrade to Vitamix power even if it was green.

IT WILL MAKE ONE IN THE GLASS
@alacrity For a frozen 'rita, start with crushed ice and the booze, and then add the lime and such late. (Similar technique works for daiquiris.) (A peach daiquiri made with Captain Morgan can be a very good thing.)
@werehatrack try a Midori marg sometime- they don’t hurt until the 5th or 6th one.
Kinda expensive, innit.

It says “Corded electric”
@TheWren Whoosh . . .
Overpriced. Meh.
@markmeltzer it’s over 50% off the MSRP. You can buy a cheap one and replace repeatedly tho, I’m sure that’ll be cheaper.
@Adamamesh @markmeltzer We haven’t worn out the Kitchenaid and Cuisinart that we’ve got, so…
@markmeltzer @werehatrack I cool a lot
The only thing holding me back is that I’d really like the storage case…
My question is why do I need one? I thought I was Mixed up enough already!
