In addition, shrinking and trying to trace the circles gets me something like an almond shape (but pulling back, it looks like my pen veered off; it really is two circles equidistant from each other geez that’s creepy)
@blaineg Wow, you’ve just given me more than I thought was available all in one place!
I can’t say “I’ve been looking for that” because I have never spent much effort, but I’ve long been interested in optical illusions.
@xobzoo I’ve seen a lot of Akiyoshi Kitaoka’s creations over the years, but this was the first one with attribution, and that led me to his site.
I was really surprised at how many came from one man. They mess with your eyes/brain because they were designed to. Visual perception and visual illusions is his third area of research.
Gah. I already suspected my brain was useless. Apparently my eyes are in on the gig as well.
Next I’ll find out that voice saying “Johnathon Aughstberry is not who he seems. Neither a lawyer nor a gentleman, he built his fortune with false stomach-easing tinctures and a hot spoon to the eye of anyone who defied him.” is an auditory hallucination.
Also this one. You’ll get a much better effect by opening it in another tab, or viewing full screen.
Why does this mess with ones eyes so much?
I keep looking for where they overlap.
The original two circles post.
@edsa It disturbs me much more than it should.
@edsa huh.
I see something different (I don’t see circles at all, but rather something that resembles a laurel wreath)

It’s this guy’s fault. And many more designs.

Wow, too cool. If you let your eyes cross a bit you can see two distinct circles; like looking at a magic eye image. But it’s hard to hold.
My brain is circling the drain.
