The Christmas Train came to town
5The CPKC Holiday Train stopped near us yesterday.
This thing is festive AF. It is quite the spectacle. Would be awesome to see it just going by out in the wild.
One boxcar transforms into a stage in like 10 seconds.
American Authors and KT Tunstall played, they donated one of those oversized checks to the food bank, and then they transformed the stage back into a boxcar and took off again (though probably just to a siding elsewhere in the yard to get everyone to leave).
This was the end of the line for AA and KT, but the train stops pick up again in Illinois next Saturday with two new musicians on board. This thing is covering a good bit of the country so if you’re not on the East or West coast, it might be coming near you.
We also have the original KCS Holiday Express train with Santa roaming the tracks around here, but it’s not officially stopping here this year. Though I heard it was at the same yard last Friday for the employees.

LEGOS! EGGOS! STRATEGO! AWESOME!
So cool! (But also so far…)
Calling @pooltoywolf
@f00l Always wanted to see the CP Holiday Train. I usually go to watch the FEC one, though!
@f00l @PooltoyWolf yep I think here is the closest it comes to you and that is very far away still.
I guess in the KCS world this yard may have been of some significance, and still a big enough deal with CP that they would come all the way down. If you look at the map it’s clear this is a detour. I know the KCS executive train used to be here fairly regularly.
Wow! Lucky you! I love KT Tunstall.
I’d never heard of this - so cool!
Aw, man. That’s so cool. I wish they came to Colorado.
