The next day. There's some form of food in the fridge, no extended family here, husband is out hunting, and I'm just hanging out with my coffee not having to do a damned thing.
@Thumperchick Enjoy it now. Next year won't be the same . . . It is different, better in so many ways - but the "I don't have to a damned thing" is gone - for a long time coming.
Pie Eve. The night before Thanksgiving celebrating pie. We had 7 pies tonight (6 different kinds) + a pumpkin cake. There were only 10 of us here. It was magical!
Sometimes the polls, or the results hit ya where it counts. Being estranged/shunned/outcast from family leaves me thankful for my real family - my few close friends. And a drinky-poo or 2 and TV marathons.
The sandwiches, after the great gorging. Turkey, stuffing, cranberry, and mayo with salt and pepper. On Wonder Bread.... The only time we have it in the house.
the gravy
@carl669
***Good***
gravyNo clue.
I don't celebrate it.
Hey, @FroodyFrog! Do you celebrate Thanksgiving?
@Thumperchick
The holiday? Nope.
(Does that mean I'm not grateful for things? Nope.)
@FroodyFrog I'm grateful for not celebrating the holiday of gratefulness!
2 paid holidays from work makes for a 4-day weekend.
The dressing/stuffing
The fact that it's the only Holiday that hasn't been commercialized within an inch of its life.
@shanesny yet.
@shanesny No but its getting crapped on by wallyworld, best buy, target, kohls, and the like with their 'open Thursday' black friday crap.
The giant cookie that is supposed to be for the kids.
The leftovers.
The nap. I love sleeping. It's like death, but without the commitment.
@Pavlov So well said. Hold off on that long term commitment for the foreseeable future if at all possible.

The fruitcake.
@mike808 You're thinking of a different holiday. No, wait, you just aren't thinking.
The double time I'll get paid for having to work it.
@SteveL I didn't have to work it, but if I did, my union would make damn sure I got double.
The Ham! Holy nature how is that option missing!?
@DrunkCat because it's not turkey?
@DrunkCat Ham Thanksgivings are the best.

Stuffing and pecan pie. No turkey. Yes, just pile my plate with stuffing and pecan pie and pour some gravy on it all.
@awk
Wow. Very surprised that 'Family' rules out over 'Nothing about Thanksgiving is good'. Dammit Meh community, you're more sarcastic than this!
@capcharlisimo We're all optimistic about how it's going to go. If they have this poll again tomorrow night, it may swing the other direction.
@Thumperchick
That's why i didn't bother to sugarcoat my thread. ;)
@capcharlisimo Just me and my wife this year; work (both) made travel impossible. But we wish we could have more family around.
The gestalt of sensory overload.
Too many people, too much food, too much football, too much beer...
Damn, it really does give me a case of the warm fuzzies.
And thank you all for being just a little crazy.
The time off from work.
(TC edit: FTFY)
hahah. It doesn't linkify my post. But trust me. Best part of thanksgiving
Wondering if it's too early to crack open a cold one. Ya know, to alleviate the torture inflicted be having a crazy family.
@hla10 We are probably related. I'll meet you in the garage, by the beer fridge.
@hla10 Not too early at all.
@irishbyblood See you in a few. It's fully stocked.
it's 5 oclock somewhere

But not turkey gas, it's the worst.
It just occurred to me, that even though I don't celebrate Thanksgiving, there's one thing I'm grateful for.
Treksgiving!
For those who celebrate both:
Way too much family drama past and present for to ever really enjoy the holidays. (I'm always waiting for the other shoe to drop)
Leftovers!!!
The sandwiches, after the great gorging. Turkey, stuffing, cranberry, and mayo with salt and pepper. On Wonder Bread.... The only time we have it in the house.
@AmazingChicken Everything but the wonder bread... its too soft and fluffy and falls apart.
Green bean casserole!!!
... Yet another taking head calling that parade the "Macy's Day Parade."
It's not Macy's Day, Mr. Blitzer. It's Thanksgiving Day.
@PocketBrain It's the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
