The most expensive US film poster is… Universal Pictures’ The Mummy from 1932! I think. It sold for $435,500 in 1997, the highest price ever paid for a poster. Until… I THINK it sold again last year for a million bucks more? Not that art should be judged on the basis of MONEY, of course… Grosz was Universal’s art director at the time and gets the credit for the poster. I hear this particular design was very influential in poster-making circles, so, uh, check your attics…
