TALES OF THE DARK GOAT O' PENN'S WOODS, NIGHT TWENTY FIVE
5MIDNIGHT!
(OK, time to plan the final five - I didn’t work this out in advance…)

(detail)
Ooorgh, I’m not doing very well here - I know I’ve read a lot of decent horror stories, and they weren’t ALL new, or by just a couple authors, but now that I’m put to it I’m having a harder time finding nice short horrors than I thought! I’m saving CERTAIN PEOPLE for the last few days, 'natch. I’m hoping to avoid horror poetry, because, well, urrgghh… Meh, here’s a bit of classic, but rambling and largely plotless horror - the famed penny dreadful serial:
James Malcolm Rymer
THE STRING OF PEARLS;
OR,
THE BARBER OF FLEET STREET.
A DOMESTIC ROMANCE.
or,
The Sailor’s Gift.
A Romance of Peculiar Interest.

Coward! You could have devoted the whole month to Fungi From Yuggoth. But nooooo…
@mossygreen - SO true - I could’ve happily devoted the whole month to the Lovecraft circle, it’s heirs and ancestors, with illos by Finlay, Bok, and Sime… Sigh…
