State of Fall 2016 TV Shows
2Back in September, @katylava had a thread regarding new shows for the Fall 2016 lineup.
While a lot of shows still have yet to be determined regarding renewals, quite a few of them have already had decisions made.
For quick reference to where TV shows currently stand, there is a spreadsheet available with statuses of shows.
My questions for this thread are as follows:
- Are there any shows which you said in the other thread you would watch still being watched, or have you dropped any of them (and if so, why)?
- Are there any shows from the 2016-2017 lineup(s) which you didn’t say you would watch which you HAVE ended up watching?

Personally, I stopped watching Designated Survivor after the pilot. While I liked the plot of the show, I just couldn’t get into it.
I haven’t really watched that many shows from the 2016-2017 lineup due to the fact that I want to lower the list of shows which I am watching.
I have enjoyed Timeless and Frequency, though neither of those have done that well.
I was going to watch Making History, but upon seeing the ratings, I’ll just wait and see if it gets renewed for a second season. If it does, I’ll watch it, otherwise I won’t.
I’ll be really bummed if Timeless doesn’t get renewed. Especially after that twist at the end of the season finale.
APB ended up being a terrible show, and yet I enjoy it. Won’t be sad if it’s cancelled, but if it continues I’ll keep watching it. It’s fun. I like the main dude, and the cop lady, and the hacker chick.
Emerald City ended up being my favorite new show of the season. Please please renew.
I liked Frequency and will continue to watch if renewed, but if cancelled I wouldn’t mourn it for too long.
I was getting into Incorporated, but no point in finishing that one now.
I liked Iron Fist more than other people did. It was a bit boring at first but it got better. I wish they would have delved more into why the Meachums personalities changed so much in the last few episodes. I mean, I can see why, but it still seemed really sudden to me.
Loved Lethal Weapon, even though they use all the classic cliches to manipulate people into loving it. I can’t help it, it’s just so much fun to watch. Its poignant moments feel cheap, but the funny parts and the action parts are top notch. Also I love buddy cop stories.
I talked about No Tomorrow in the other thread, but I’ll say again… it’s adorable and uplifting and I hope it gets renewed.
Powerless is cute and watchable enough.
Tried watching Shooter, but it was really boring.
The Good Place is a masterpiece. So glad it’s renewed.
I watched a few episodes of Time After Time when I was really bored. It was kinda dumb but all right, but I’m not at all upset it was cancelled.
I watched Travelers on Netflix, because, you know, I don’t live in Canada. I really really like that show. Stoked it got renewed… but wtf… why is Will & Grace on this list for a yet-to-air season 9? Eric McCormack better be able to do both!
Still have to watch Westworld. Will probably watch it when I subscribe to HBO Go in July.
@katylava
Powerless looks like it will be cancelled, as it got pulled from the NBC schedule.
@PlacidPenguin not terribly surprising. it was fun while it lasted.
I’m very disappointed that PBS couldn’t get the funds to continue Mercy Street (not in the spreadsheet). Really enjoyed that show. To have it cancelled after only 6 episodes in the second season for lack of funding is a travesty.
I watched the first episode of The Good Fight on CBS’ streaming service and it looked really good, but I’m not going to subscribe for only one show (plus a bunch of reruns). They’ll need more original content to make it worthwhile.
I keep wanting to get into Gotham … and can’t. Maybe this year.
If The Crown comes back … I will binge-watch that all night.
I wasjust indulging myself with a host of you tube movie previews. Stumbled on this preview for a series called Midnight, Texas starting in July on NBC from the writer of True Blood. Looks right up my alley. In fact I’m going to look for the books. American Gods is coming up soon on Starz I think and that looks pretty promising, too.
@moondrake I’m reading American Gods. It’s really good.
@sammydog01 I’ve read it, I only found it okay. There were parts I liked a lot but quite a lot of it failed to grab me. However I am mire forgiving of tv shows, unlike books I can play a game on my tablet during the parts that don’t engage me.
@moondrake I love Ian McShane but don’t get Starz. I will probably give Midnight, TX a go- thanks for the recommendation.
@sammydog01 I don’t have Starz either but it’s an easy add-on for Sling. If they archive it in on-demand I’ll get Starz for a month or two and watch it. That’s my plan for Game of Thrones and HBO. Since they’re only doing a half dozen episodes this year I’d need only 2mos even if they did’t archive it.
