Spooky Goat day thirteen! Thirteen.... Thirteen.... Spooky William Castle!
4Spooky William Castle movies!
William Castle movies are all great and terrible. His commitment to high concepts and cheap gimmicks was second to none. Who could forget Emergo and ** The House on Haunted Hill** or 13 Ghosts’ Illusion-O?
I was lucky enough to see 13 Ghosts many years ago at a local library where they supplied us with 3D glasses that didn’t quite work with Illusion-O, but made us feel like we had the real William Castle experience.
Here’s the first of apparently 8 parts on YouTube:
And here’s the whole thing on archive.org:

Svengoolie’s showing The Tingler on Saturday, so I’ll post more then!

TCM used to have a lot of Castle movies around Halloween. (Maybe they still do, I don’t have cable anymore.). They’re great.
So my 13 Ghosts story- the local TV station had a show early Sunday mornings called the Shhh show. Kids were supposed to watch TV and let their parents sleep in. And they showed 13 Ghosts. And I refused to sleep with the door closed until college.
If you’re into buying movies the Castle version of House on Haunted Hill is two dollars on prime video. Starting the best actor of all time, Vincent Price.
The color version is free to watch on Vudu.
