120 volts COULD be DC, though not very likely.
Even more extremely unlikely the voltage would not vary polarity, but would vary magnitude in some cyclic way.
Watts has nothing to do with AC or DC, it’s a measure of power consumption, not source type.
It is very likely the motor itself is a DC motor, but only because that is cheaper to make variable-speed with modern electronics. However this has an ordinary AC power cord, so the conversion from AC to DC happens inside the fan base.
Other fans like the SPIN 10 and 12 sold here before have a wall-wart that converts AC to DC and sends the DC to the fan. Those can be battery-powered with some ingenuity (assuming you have a 24 Volt battery).
@Chairman_Wang-WOW,…The Specs are right there in plain view! Nevertheless, in case ya have a problem the specific spec you’re looking for is the sixth spec in the overall description, FYI. Also, the 8th spec admits that it’s a plugs in , which kinda gives it away!! A Helicopter it’s not!!
I suppose it’s a different fan than the other Vornados recently, but it still feels repetitive. Especially for not heading into Summer. Unless Meh would like to send me plane tickets to Australia in an IRK. (or anywhere else in the southern hemisphere)
@xobzoo - Well, Meh is all about closeouts and overstocks (an margaritas). So pretty on-brand to sell fans in the Fall and electric-heated socks in Spring…
@Kyeh Vornado is now owned by the same company that owns the Sharper Image brand so they do produce a lot of cross blended things. I have heard overall quality took a hit when the aquisition took over, but reviews are overall still high.
This same owner Threesixty Group also makes the Discovery kids toys too oddly enough.
So many weird fans. Often.
Did Meh get a container of vornado fans from china that didn’t sell in china?
Or is this a,
“I dunno boss they just fell off the truck er, ship
@craigcush I don’t have the definitive answer, but my suspicion is that these hadn’t sold when the end of the summer retail season came around, so they were made available to the specialists like Meh.
What is the actual diameter of the fan? I’m looking for one to take on a cruise but they limit the fan diameter to 10". The dimensions given appear to be for the shipping box.

@IndifferentDude That’s right! It’s “Talk Like a Pirate” Day. Shiver me timbers.
This one is pretty fancy. I’m a fan
Apparently fans are the new speaker dock at Meh
Fandemonium
Anyone know if this is a DC motor? Can’t find specs.
@Chairman_Wang
Very unlikely it’s DC
@Chairman_Wang says in specs 120volts. That is always AC.
@Chairman_Wang @craigcush
Well,…
The
is more telling.
120 volts COULD be DC, though not very likely.
Even more extremely unlikely the voltage would not vary polarity, but would vary magnitude in some cyclic way.
[Just had to be technically nitpicky.]
@Chairman_Wang 50W is too much for a DC motor of a fan this size. Very likely it’s AC
@Chairman_Wang - No, this is not a DC-powered fan. The specifications are here:

@BarnacleBobbie
I called the SI/vornado customer service line listed in the owners guide and they confirmed that this model doesn’t have a DC motor.

I got their other 12 inch fan. Do they forget that they already sell fans and design new ones by mistake? Next month we will see 67 new variations!
trying to clean this would absolutely blow.
@RogerWilco agreed.
I miss speaker docks and Bluetooth speakers and knives. Fan Meh is Meh
@CraigDanger knives! user name checks out, too
Déjà blew?
I suppose it’s a different fan than the other Vornados recently, but it still feels repetitive. Especially for not heading into Summer. Unless Meh would like to send me plane tickets to Australia in an IRK. (or anywhere else in the southern hemisphere)
@xobzoo Antarctica?
@xobzoo - Well, Meh is all about closeouts and overstocks (an margaritas). So pretty on-brand to sell fans in the Fall and electric-heated socks in Spring…
@BarnacleBobbie @xobzoo- i was thinkin, “Hey self, ain’t d hot days almost over¿”,… Fall begins this Sunday!! 🌬
Three speed?
OFF must be a speed as well…
@rjquillin They just don’t bother to list a medium-speed CFM. It’s in the middle somewhere
I hope Vornado isn’t doing under …
@Kyeh i was guessing that they just keep changing models/ designs slightly, so this is last year’s model…
@catthegreat It’s just - they’ve had SO MANY Vornado fans, I can’t remember how many models now, but at least six?
@Kyeh Vornado is now owned by the same company that owns the Sharper Image brand so they do produce a lot of cross blended things. I have heard overall quality took a hit when the aquisition took over, but reviews are overall still high.

@Naris17 Oh, okay - another one of those stories. Thanks. It seems like antitrust laws aren’t very important anymore.
Not a fan. Or am I / is it?
/giphy confused

Why don’t you ship to Hawaii? Hawaii needs a fan like this…
@hongyun79 FedEx Ground doesn’t go there as of last I checked
@werehatrack Thanks… I wish MEH would ship to Hawaii by USPS or UPS
yes its not dc fan
“I doan ged it, I doan ged it!” (John Heard in ‘Big’). All the fans in my house seem to be stuck to the ceiling…!?
@MrNews- i think those’re called CEILING FANS¿? 🫢
@DecoratedWarVet Ooooh… I thought there was a problem with the gravitational field in our house, and they had just fallen up there.
What is the actual diameter of the fan? I’m looking for one to take on a cruise but they limit the fan diameter to 10". The dimensions given appear to be for the shipping box.
@bigpolar The Amazon link listed below the price is useful for specs. The AMZ page appears to indicate a 9" diameter.
@bigpolar - “Blade Diameter 8.07 in.” Do they care about that or total diameter of the fan head? Looks like 2-3 more inches with the fan guard, so it will be close if that counts.
Specs are here:

Overall dimensions:
@BarnacleBobbie I will have to double check
I hear meh will be selling pagers and walkie-talkies really cheap next week.
@Trinityscrew underrated comment
@catthegreat @Trinityscrew
Too soon
@catthegreat @Trinityscrew At prices so cheap it’ll blow up the Interwebs!
Can it tilt 45 degrees downwards?
@ruthloose88 doesn’t look like it would but idk
@ruthloose88 Downward tilt is very limited, looks like almost none due to the design of the bracket.
Yes
Yes. I want to buy this.
Let me in
@user24581450 Just click on the box up at the top to go to yesterday’s sale page. The fan is still available to order as I post this reply.
