seems like a good unit, but filter replacements seem…expensive. like @dahobbs9 was saying, seems like a unique filter size, meaning low demand, low supply, and gouge-y pricing. the vornado qube50 and purify 5 units that were sold here recently seem to use more ubiquitous sized filters. i wish this one were more popular. seems like a better purifier, but if replacements are that expensive…
Auto mode adjusts through 6 speeds based on detected air quality … Uh, I think we need a video showing the Purifier doing this after someone FARTS!! After all, the specs say:
Activated Carbon Filters help trap odors and volatile organic compounds (VOCs)
/showme a Sharper Image PURIFY 9 Air Purifier cycling through 6 modes to clear the air after someone with flatulence stinks up the room causing everyone else to plug their noses.
@mediocrebot
One of the reviews on Amazon stated that it would shift into high gear as her boyfriend farted in his sleep and wake her up with the higher fan speed. Then slow down quietly and he’d fart again.
Read a few Amazon reviews, these were from years ago. Most were ok with it and said it was quiet but that the replacement filters tripled in price after they bought the unit.
Depends on how many produced along with how many others use the Same filter as to how long replacements are produced.
The generic one I have from Sears is 20+ years old and filters can be found on amazon and other sites for a reasonable price.
Hope this helps someone a lil.

@mediocrebot HA!! Love the “TURD”
mode!!

@MrGoodGuy I have farted in the same room as my girlfriend’s air purifier and watched the purifier switch itself to work harder
