Shark Vacuum question...
0As many of you are owners of these due to the regular selling of them here, I’d like to get a recommendation. I just moved into a house built in the 1920s with wood floors and tile most everywhere. There’s one room with carpet (the bedroom), but the carpet is so bad we got an area rug to cover most of it. I don’t feel like sweeping all the time, and we will have low pile area rugs in most of the rooms. We have a long haired wienerdog, so there will be some hair, and I won’t need to mop a lot (food doesn’t hit the floor for more than a second, and the wood floors couldn’t take it). Any recommendation on what Shark vacuum to buy?

I’ve only used it once so far, but this one did a good job on the area run that we have over a hard floor.

It actually sucked harder than the dyson, so I was a little worried about the rug getting sucked off the floor making it difficult to vacuum, but it went ok.
I turned the spinning brush off to suck some debris off the hard floor itself. It has a pretty small footprint, so it fits in the broom closet well. Also nice because it can be converted to be used on upholstery almost as a hand-vac.
I have a Shark NV680, and it goes from ceramic tile in the kitchen to wood floors with throw rugs in the living room to carpet in the hall and bedrooms without a problem. It has a lever next to the handle to increase/decrease suction, so it is easy to adjust it upward for hard floors, unlike those vacuums that have the adjustment hidden away somewhere hard to reach. I also like the lift-away feature for getting under beds, chairs, and tables, and for getting bugs off the ceiling! (All hard-to-impossible with the Dyson.) I really like the Shark. Easy to empty, easy to find and clean filters.
I don’t know which one would be best for your situation because I haven’t tried other ones in my house.
@rockblossom Ah, good point, if I find the suckage to be too strong for area rugs, runners, and the like, I will decrease the suction setting next time.
