Well… my favorite cocktail is a Smith and Wesson, (Kahlua, Vodka, Cola and a splash of cream) but if we’re talking traditional summertime drinking it by the pool while cabana boys fan you with palm leaves type drinks, then a strawberry daiquiri will do nicely, thank you.
G&T or Moscow Mule/Kentucky Mule/Dark and Stormy. Why is it only the rum one that has the different name? What do you call Tequila+ginger beer? A burro?
Some kind of chilled wine on the patio after dinner while the sun goes down. Wine that I buy over at Casemates.com the link to which has somehow been left off of the footer on all the mediocre pages.
C’mon, nobody under 21 would attempt to buy wine online, would they?
i like gin and tonics with a lime to welcome summer in each year. then i move back to bourbon and also scotch on the rocks. but that is just me. everyone is different.
Love me some Limoncello in the summer, straight out of the freezer. If it must be a “cocktail” then shake with cold vodka and pour in a chilled martini glass. Ahhhhh now that looks and tastes like summer (even though lemons ripen in winter)
It varies a lot because I’m very much into trying things I’ve not had before. When drinking at a bar that has specials, my choice is usually the least sweet of the drink specials.
At home, a buck (ginger ale or beer, lemon or lime and gin or vodka or tequila or whiskey) with ice is common, as is unsweetened spiked lemonade.
@baqui63 What is “unsweetened spiked lemonade?”
Do you just mean water, lemon juice, and liquor? Or do you just not sweeten the lemonade any further than it already is?
You all have raised the bar.
Usually I just shift from darker beers to lighter beers, and red wines to white wines. Maybe an occasional G&T or a mule.
Now it looks like I have some homework ahead of me.
In a chilled tumbler, stir:
2 shots Pimm’s No.1
2 sliced strawberries
2 slices cucumber
Ice (or freeze the strawberry and cucumber slices)
Ginger ale to fill (I like Vernor’s)
I picked a quart of mulberries around the farm today, and hope to get at least that many again tomorrow. Maybe some wild raspberries, too. So next summer’s drink will be homemade mulberry wine.
Send me one of each and we’ll find out.
Maybe a Cucumber Collins

@Pony I remember those! But I think they were called Colorado Bulldogs back then
@llangley I had my first one in 1982 when I was working at a bar in downtown Seattle. It’s been my favorite ever since.
“in the comments” is a weird name for a cocktail.
@awk
/giphy slow clap
Tequila Sunset. It’s the same as a Tequila Sunrise except you use blackberry brandy instead of grenadine.
/giphy tequila
@Mehrocco_Mole I love quality tequila!!
Caipirinha
G&T or Moscow Mule/Kentucky Mule/Dark and Stormy. Why is it only the rum one that has the different name? What do you call Tequila+ginger beer? A burro?
@TheGreatNico Technically, they are all “bucks,” ie. a spirit, ginger ale (or beer) and citrus (lemon or lime).
I drink a fair number of gin bucks. Whiskeys usually are plain or in things like a manhattan or sour.

A bourbon slush. Just made a batch tonight and put it in the freezer.
A Patty O’Toole Hurricane please, or a Singapore Sling.
A Paloma. Tequila, grapefruit juice (sweetened as desired) and a bit of soda. Perfect poolside refreshment!
@vfrdirk I’d add lime, omit the soda, and it’d be about perfect.
Dark and Stormy. With Rachel’s Ginger Beer. Yummmm!
@moonhat I like mine with Myer’s dark rum and Cock-N-Bull Ginger Beer.
Orange Crush - fresh squeezed oj, vodka, triple sec, splash of sprite, lots of ice. Makes summer proud.
@Joyce I don’t like alcohol, but this sounds delicious!
I’m a man and I like pina coladas. There. I said it.
Would someone please just get me a Tenacious Traveler please? (That’s a ginger flavored shandy for the uninitiated.)

@bayportbob I was with you right up until you switched to bourbon and scotch. Just more Boodles and tonic for me!
Does a milkshake count?
@DrWorm
I always keep a bottle of sloe gin in the cabinet for Alabama slammers, but it’s not a liquor I hear discussed often.
Oh wait, a float trip with a gin and juice bucket…YES THAT!!
My favorite:

Aperol Spritz tho?
Tom Collins! What’s more summery than lemonade?
Malibu coconut rum & Strawberry Guava diet coke.

@Limewater The former (ie. water, lemon juice and a spirit, usually vodka or gin).
I’ll take all the drinks - types, not literally all the drinks, I have to drive.
My go-to in the summer is a Cuba Libre (with fresh lime, of course!) Simple but refreshing.
I voted for margarita, because…yum, but my favorite summer drink is a rum runner. Too late, though, I already voted.

Margarita, good tequila, fresh limes, on the rocks.
Otherwise, a good quality beer or a quality single-malt Scotch with one rock.
Iced cold peppermint patty martini please
Yes! A ginger ale Pimm’s cup!
In a chilled tumbler, stir:
2 shots Pimm’s No.1
2 sliced strawberries
2 slices cucumber
Ice (or freeze the strawberry and cucumber slices)

And yes, I first tried it because of Archer.
