@cinoclav yessir. The view from the other side is much better. The pier is over 20’ tall so maybe that could have worked but it’s not obvious from our height.
@PlacidPenguin Preferably disembodied. I certainly don’t have 20 Lego figures sitting around so I would’ve been happy with something from a horror scene.
Hah! @djslack beat me
I like this one, because each time I drive by it with one of my older granddaughters, some story is spun about giant spiders, or giant alien spacecraft, or giant alien spider spacecraft.
@PlacidPenguin@Seeds Yeah, found a centipede in my house last night that would have made a good candidate. Teaching it to stand on its hind legs might have been the more interesting challenge.
@mehcuda67@PlacidPenguin I’d been meaning to mention, look at this creature I found. I have a video too- it moves like something hieronymus bosch might have dreamed up, but I don’t feel like uploading it to youtube and I can’t link it from my google photos without showing my name.
Back in college I had just woken up one day and wasn’t wearing my glasses, and a centipede with striped legs like the one in the linked article was crawling across the wall. Freaked me right out after I got close enough to see what it was (I’m really nearsighted). It had to have been three inches long, it was this huge undulating striped mass moving along the wall.
@heartny Any idea how tall that really is? Not saying you shouldn’t get credit as it’s certainly unique, but it doesn’t actually look 20’ tall and it’s going to torment me for a bit.
@djslack 7.5’ to 9’ wide from what I’ve read. It’s incredibly deceiving though when you look at it. I ran it through a pixel measurement site. I even measured it at a wider spot on the horizontal axis. Came out 329x384 so it’s not that much higher than the space is wide. Even assuming the space is 9’ wide, that leaves the height around 10.5’.
@cinoclav measuring from a wider part actually hurts the measurement. Such is perspective.
I used imagemeter and tried to best guess where the actual height would be vertically over the parking space and got a little more height. My dimension arrow could be a little more vertical, which would take a couple inches off.
I’m going to blame lighting irregularity on flash use. I also totally think this should count, it’s cool and unique.
@cinoclav@djslack@heartny For what it’s worth, I’m doubtful that it’s 20’ tall just based off of the machine next to it, but it’s interesting enough that I’m letting it in.
@djslack Yeah, I wasn’t thinking too clearly there. I’m in the midst of a very long week at work (12 hour days) and yet still dumb enough to try it on 5 hours of sleep a night. I’m fried.
@cinoclav those pictures were from our local theater and it was daughter’s first time seeing the show! I scored box seats. I went again later in the week with hubby and saw it from the orchestra… Each show was amazing! I swear I can sing every word of the play! Not really a big fan or anything
@mikibell I actually have the original soundtrack on my phone. Love the theater - I’ve had a subscription to the Walnut Street Theatre in Philly for over 20 years. I’m guessing I’m somewhere over 140 shows seen in my life yet there are so many I still haven’t seen. What theater is that in your picture? It’s really beautiful.
@cinoclav I think I have the soundtrack on cassette somewhere!
It is the Palace Theater in Waterbury, CT. It was where we went to shows when I was a kid. Then it fell to disrepair and after almost 2 decades, they renovated and reopened.
I miss the red velvet curtain from my childhood, but it is beautiful.
@therealjrn
Well to be driving, I would kinda need to be outside. Especially with trains and stuff.
I do love being outside.
You might like living in the country, then you might want to go out more.
@heartny@moonhat Well, that is the general idea of a ferry - to have an opening where things can enter and be loaded. But yeah, this one looks much cooler than your average ferry.
Since I assume reusing a picture from another day is frowned upon, and I don’t want you weirdos to know where I live so I don’t want to use a picture of my house, and the thing I really wanted to use today was not cooperating, here’s an 8 story barracks.
@brhfl I just realised that you only really see four of the five globes in my photo… But yes, it was one of the things that really attracted me to the house.
(I also see my Bedtime Bear and my Galapagos tortoise that live on my display ended up in the shot )
Smoke ‘em if you got ‘em.
I’m curious to see how many pictures of trees are posted.
This is where I have spent 20% of my time over the past 22 years. The blinds askew next to Stewie’s left ear mark where I currently sit.
Two ways:
@djslack Condos Gulf Coast?
@cinoclav yessir. The view from the other side is much better. The pier is over 20’ tall so maybe that could have worked but it’s not obvious from our height.
I have an idea, but I just need to find 20 Lego figures.
Until I remember to look though…
@PlacidPenguin I originally looked for a picture of 20 feet stacked up.
@cinoclav
Disembodied, or not?
@PlacidPenguin Preferably disembodied. I certainly don’t have 20 Lego figures sitting around so I would’ve been happy with something from a horror scene.

This very important utilities pole in my backyard.
Tulsa’s Golden Driller
This millipede has more than 20 pairs of legs showing in the picture.
@PlacidPenguin Looks upright to me, so tall not long. Good job.
@PlacidPenguin @Seeds Yeah, found a centipede in my house last night that would have made a good candidate. Teaching it to stand on its hind legs might have been the more interesting challenge.
@mehcuda67 @Seeds
Now, because centipedes can have as few as 15 pairs of legs, would it count if there are between 15 and 20 (excluding 20)?
Because technically 15 pairs would mean 30 legs (and feet), but it’s only 15 feet tall.
@PlacidPenguin
nope, unless you cut it in half and stacked the two halves vertically.
@mehcuda67 @PlacidPenguin I’d been meaning to mention, look at this creature I found. I have a video too- it moves like something hieronymus bosch might have dreamed up, but I don’t feel like uploading it to youtube and I can’t link it from my google photos without showing my name.
@Seeds Looks like a house centipede:

Careful, I think they can bite.
@djslack They look so weird. I found that about a week ago, just tossed it outside.
Just giving it a try:

@djslack that guy is crazy
Capital One Bank pushpin, waiting patiently for a new branch opening.
@heartny Any idea how tall that really is? Not saying you shouldn’t get credit as it’s certainly unique, but it doesn’t actually look 20’ tall and it’s going to torment me for a bit.
@cinoclav @heartny it’s pretty close. Aren’t parking spaces usually 8-9’ wide? It looks to be a little over two space widths tall by my eye.
@djslack 7.5’ to 9’ wide from what I’ve read. It’s incredibly deceiving though when you look at it. I ran it through a pixel measurement site. @Seeds Sheesh you guys are tough. And thorough. Thanks for letting it in anyway.
@heartny It’s not every day you see pictures of giant push pins. Curiosity got the better of us.
@djslack Yeah, I wasn’t thinking too clearly there. I’m in the midst of a very long week at work (12 hour days) and yet still dumb enough to try it on 5 hours of sleep a night. I’m fried.
The chandelier from Phantom of the Opera
@mfladd be glad the Ganesh in your yoga photo was only about 6 feet tall
@mfladd @mikibell
@mikibell Still one of my favorite shows. I’ve seen 4 different versions of it and it never gets old.
@cinoclav those pictures were from our local theater and it was daughter’s first time seeing the show! I scored box seats. I went again later in the week with hubby and saw it from the orchestra… Each show was amazing! I swear I can sing every word of the play! Not really a big fan or anything

@mikibell Holy crap. That is an immense amount of work done in restoring it.
I give up, this has been waving wildly at me all day.

In the background: helicopter and rocket launcher—they are both longer than 20 feet and go higher than 20 feet…Still on my work trip!
On my way into town this cloudy morning, stupid train!
But I got my pic!
@Calabama Nice! I’ll have to try this “outside” thing you speak of some time…
@therealjrn
Well to be driving, I would kinda need to be outside. Especially with trains and stuff.
I do love being outside.
You might like living in the country, then you might want to go out more.
@Calabama I’m pretty cityfied, true enough. But with the spring weather it sure seems fine outside.
these buildings around me
I think the ferry may qualify, but not the palm tree.
@heartny cool ferry! does a part of the end lift up or something? what is that?
@heartny @moonhat Well, that is the general idea of a ferry - to have an opening where things can enter and be loaded. But yeah, this one looks much cooler than your average ferry.
@heartny @moonhat
Judging by the side of the front of it…
@cinoclav
To paraphrase @narfcake from last year:
/wootstalker https://shirt.woot.com/offers/whos-a-pretty-fairy?ref=penguinshirtwoot.com
Who’s a Pretty Fairy?
Price: $19.00
Condition: Probably New
@narfcake @PlacidPenguin Doesn’t it feel sort of… wrong, to be doing @narcake’s job posting shirts?
@cinoclav @narfcake
He’s pretty much been asking for it for the last couple of days.
@heartny @PlacidPenguin ok I see the seam there in the front, it must lift up. Fun!
@cinoclav oh my, you are quite a card…
@cinoclav Posting catshirts (and Animaniacs videos) is equal opportunity here. @PlacidPenguin is free to post them anytime.
(Also cat memes too. Any luck finding those posts yet?)
@narfcake
I don’t believe in luck.
@PlacidPenguin
/8ball Should I possibly find more catpics to possibly edit in to a certain someone’s posts?
Yes

@narfcake
Are you sure that @hollboll would even notice? I mean, it’s not like she even really actively checks in anymore.
@PlacidPenguin No Scapegoat Emeritus badge = eligible for goatdom, right?
@narfcake
Yes she is.
And so is any former Mediocre employee.
Since I assume reusing a picture from another day is frowned upon, and I don’t want you weirdos to know where I live so I don’t want to use a picture of my house, and the thing I really wanted to use today was not cooperating, here’s an 8 story barracks.
My nifty chandelier that spans two floors of my house.
@curtise That is nifty!
@brhfl I just realised that you only really see four of the five globes in my photo… But yes, it was one of the things that really attracted me to the house.
(I also see my Bedtime Bear and my Galapagos tortoise that live on my display ended up in the shot )
Today wasn’t a good day for spending time outside, so here’s a photo from a while back of the 100′ tall Robert A. Taft Memorial Carillon in DC.
If I don’t fall asleep, this stays open until 1am because of the late start. If I do fall asleep, it stays open until tomorrow whenever i say so.
@Seeds
Could you make a post shortly after you fall asleep so that we know you’re asleep?
Thanks.
@PlacidPenguin I could, but you wouldn’t like it.
@Seeds
Do you REALLY think you could make a post which I wouldn’t like?
@PlacidPenguin I’m sure I could.
All these entries an not one flagpole.
@rtjhnstn I was going to take a pic of a flagpole, but I figured someone else would beat me to it. I guess not!
@heartny @rtjhnstn Check out the background of @therealjrn 's Tulsa’s Golden Driller
This lightning is over 20’ tall. It is the only source of light in the photo, it was taken within the past half hour.
Not an entry, I just wanted to share my lucky shot.
(Commence graphology and/or other comments by @PlacidPenguin and @heartny …)
@narfcake @heartny
Let’s see…
The ‘r’ looks typical, the ‘k’ looks typical, the ‘f’ is messing with the ‘c’, and the ‘c’ doesn’t look like an ‘e’.
Oh, and he wrote his username sideways.
But what’s up with the ‘n’ ?!?

@narfcake @PlacidPenguin It’s awfully blurry. The first ‘A’ is nice, but the second one is rather anemic.
@heartny @narfcake
Because cameras allow one to focus on a specific image and blur everything else out, I’m blaming the backwards quality on the 0%.
Unless it was taken with the Moto E (2015). Then the blame falls onto @Seeds.
@heartny @PlacidPenguin
(Apologies for the crappy /giphys. I’m doubly blaming @Seeds here.)
@heartny @narfcake @PlacidPenguin what crappy giphys?
@heartny @narfcake @Seeds
This one for starters (I still have that version of the page open in a different tab):
@heartny @PlacidPenguin And that’s why I was blaming @Seeds!
closed.
@Seeds
So… You’re awake?
Congrats @ciaccona on most stars @mikibell on hanging out inside pretty buildings.
@PlacidPenguin looks that way, found a distraction.
@PlacidPenguin very distracted.
@Seeds go to sleep!
@RiotDemon haha I did!
@Seeds funny enough, I was in the same building last night!
View from mid orchestra…
@mikibell neat! whatd you see?
@Seeds my nephew’s graduation from nursing school… I am his cheerleader! He is now an LPN …working towards RN!!
@mikibell @Seeds
That WOULD explain the Lincoln Tech signs.
