Yay Dallas. I'm not sure what I'll use this for - it sort of falls into a weird logic trap in my brain... but I'm very happy the service is available! Like a concierge waiting for me to need something.
What's your experience with same day delivery? What have you used it for?

I'm holding out for their "Prime Air" drone delivery service.
Well naturally it's not the first that comes to mind when I need something right now. But if I could get something cheaper (including the cost for shipping), same day, and delivered to my door.... what's not to love? Now if I lived in a big city where getting around, traffic, or if I didn't own a car this would be an essential IMO.
Fuck Yeah.
For Philly
For Dallas
For @marklog ?
Is it not rolled out yet? Too many words in that page, and not enough linkage to shit I can get delivered to the office before lunch.
I wonder if I'll be included? I didn't expect to be in the Sunday delivery option, but apparently am.
You can check your zipcode at amazon.com/b?ie=UTF8&node=8729023011&sa-no-redirect=1
Nope. Close, but not listed. Oh well.
Same here. I get Sunday but no fresh or same day. I'll take what I can get though.
I bought something from Amazon on Monday with free 2-day Prime shipping. It arrived yesterday (the next day). I love it when that happens.
that's always a nice treat
not sure why amazon doesn't just implement delivery via giant slingshot
but for your beard?
I bet Amazon could build a national system of underground conveyor belts
bring back pneumatic tubes
But does Amazon sell speaker docks?
Ah, I assumed this was about Amazon Fresh. Same day was fun, but almost for the novelty of it than the need. It's impossible to predict what products qualify.
Oh and the weirdest thing about same-day is that it's couriers, which means it's sometimes just some dude in his car, no uniform or branded vehicle, who just drives up and hands you your thing.
If you kept better track of your thing, strangers wouldn't manhandle it so much.
Yep. We do not have same day here but same idea. They hire people by the job and they deliver it. I do not remember the pay but it is not much per item. One guy quit because it was a 1.5 hour round trip to the warehouse for a couple items. Most are done along with other contracts here.
We've had the couriers for quite a while, but no same day delivery. Just some guy in his car.
@dave; Uber for parcels!
I'm just waiting for Amazon to announce that they have bought out the postal service. Seems like that would be an attractive business option so they could control that aspect of their business. Once they launch their own internet service (for the price of Prime and a little bit more a month), they will be set for world domination.
Like I needed another reason to avoid putting on pants and leaving the house.
I'll take any reasons I can get, pants suck.
@JonT Those might not have been pants.
I had Prime for 5 years but decided to let it lapse this summer. I'd pick it back up if Minneapolis is ever added to this program.
I've had amazon prime for years, probably 4 or 5 I'd guess and being in a city that offers same day via prime I can't say that I used it.
That said, I do use same day delivery via google shopping express for costco stuff. I just had a dozen rolls of paper towels and a family sized box of Kashi cereal delivered to my office yesterday. I also bought a new splatter screen that came along for the ride. All same day. I absolutely love it, it actually saves me a lot of hassle and time.
