I actually don’t hydrate much before, but do hydrate during and after my (more infrequent this year than usual) bike rides. I add Nuun tablets to water and ice as it has no calories, some electrolytes and mild flavoring.

Pre-workout assumes there will be a following workout after partaking. I call that mightily optimistic.
