Old Sansa MP3 Players - Looking For A Charger
12I’m pretty sure there are still quite a few old Wooters around here.
I found a bag of old Sansa players from Woot back in the day. Unfortuntely, I somehow divorced them from the charging cables, likely during the multiple moves I’ve had over the past decade or so since I’ve used any of these.
I did find a USB-mini cable for the Clips. However, I can’t find one of those special cables for the M200 or whatever the model number is for those. It’s one of the wide, flat multipin ones. Kinda like a proprietary version of the old Apple cables.
By chance, does anyone still have one of those that they would be willing to sell? I’ll pay for shipping, handling, etc. I just want to see if they work well enough to maybe load up a bunch of audiobooks and donate them somewhere.
I can’t find any that look right on Amazon or even Ebay.
Thank you!

I think I found what you’re after on NewEgg. This looks like their proprietary cords. I initially thought you just needed a mini, but that’s for the M200 series, and your photo is the E200 line.
@ExtraMedium That NewEgg connector looks a lot like the old cell-phone custom connectors. If you knew which one, and the pins were wired the same, then maybe they interoperate.
@ExtraMedium Thank you for this. Same concern I have with some of them on EBay - I’m not certain if the pins will be the same and on the fence about taking a flier and trying. Luckily, it looks like I may have sourced one.
This looks like TRW swap meet territory, last Saturday of the month.

Seems like those bottom two might use the same charger as the Sansa Fuze line, but I can’t confirm that. Also, note that all of those players are supported by Rockbox if that’s something you’re interested in. They released v4 just last year, so the project is still alive.
i miss this era of woot, internet and gadgets
@username I also miss the old woot days. Too much random crap now.
Funny storry about the sansa mp3 players.
I bought one specifically as an upgrade to the brick mp3 player I had. Worked great till my wife (gf at the time) dropped it and snapped the solder joint of the head phone jack. Waited for them to come up for sale again and got one from a BOC I bought. Still have it and it works just fine.
Have you searched EBay? Anything there?
I think if something isn’t for sale on EBay there’s some way to post a “want” for it somewhere in the site.
You could also just purchase ak old device plus charger off EBay and then you’d be able to charge all of them.
@f00l I did, but nothing said it was specifically for those. Some that looked close, but without being sure, I wasn’t willing to risk 20 bucks or more on it.
I have this one. It says model e260 on the back.
Sansa was still selling the clips recently…up until a year or two ago.
I still have and use clips that are at least 15 years old which I loaded with music back then. Battery life and sound quality are good. Nice for the beach.
Ahhh, remember warmth and the beach?
@bookerttt I live 10 minutes from the beach and still never go.
I had no idea they were still selling those Clips. They were fantastically well made. I even accidentally sent one through the wash one time and it still worked.
Ooh, brings back memories! Mine is still floating around in a junk drawer somewhere. Even had a couple of tiny videos on it.
@wjelliott Me too. I even had one running Doom way back when. lol It was ridiculous.
@Bingo that is cool as hell!
Likewise. I found one in my “stuff-to-deal-with-some-day” drawer.

Shoot me a whisper with your address if you need me to send it to you.
@chienfou junk drawers, UNITE!
my collection at one point
@username Impressive!! I did also have one of the ones like that white one. It was pretty quickly replaced by the Clips. Those things were seriously built well, I have to say. I’ve never seen those other top 2 on the left, or that red one.
@Bingo @username
agreed… And I also had all those generations over the years. Still have 2 clips (micro USB) around the house.
@Bingo @chienfou @username The only flaw of the Clip was the clip part.
As far as I know, I only have one and it is attached to a player. Does the player work? I don’t know; probably. I should check. I also have many boxes of various cables and cords usefully labeled TECH, so I’ll keep an eye out in I have another charger, or a car charger or something.
@mossygreen Yeah, I have at least two, if this is what you seek.

Have to give a huge shoutout to @chienfou! He messaged me that he’d send me a cable and not only did he follow through with a perfectly working cable, he even included an extra treat: Chipotle powder. As it happens, I LOVE that stuff. I already used it with my dinner tonight as I happily charged up the first of the Sansas that were missing the charger.

Thank you!!
@Bingo And the chipotle powder! Woo!
@Bingo Yay @chienfou!
Oh yeah, I use chipotle powder to stop the UPS termites.
