@sillyheathen@therealjrn@werehatrack Parsley is fine. I have that unfortunate gene that makes cilantro test like metallic soap. Parsnips have a weird flavor, but you could probably cook them so I’d like them, SH.
@Kyeh@sillyheathen@therealjrn@werehatrack My mom used to make a side dish of carrots and parsnips. It was my job to hand-crank the vintage food grinder with the veggies, turning them into rice-sized pellets. Then she would add her magic and bake them like a casserole. I (a somewhat picky eater as a child) really liked it.
@Kyeh@macromeh@sillyheathen@therealjrn@werehatrack Yeah, parsnips are basically just sweeter carrots. Not sure how they can be disliked. Personally, I like putting them in stews, soups, savoury pies… they go great for a bit of sweetness alongside anything meaty and hearty.
@Kyeh@macromeh@OnionSoup@therealjrn@werehatrack I love making a mixed root mash and then frying parsnips in strip or chip form and garnishing the mash with them. They’re a little sweeter when they’re fried because they caramelize. It’s so stinking delicious. Parsnips are also amazing for soup. I love putting them in lentils too. Now I’m just a stream of culinary consciousness.
Not sure if everyone realizes that Parsecs was once one of our in-house brand names. We owned Parsecs.com. I am ashamed… it really is a horrible word, much less a brand name
I hate parsley. I also hate cilantro. I have affection torwards parsecs. NDT be dammed, I like a good parsec.
@therealjrn ITYM “parsnips”, a veg that is underloved in the US.
@werehatrack I probably would hate them too, just based on principle.
@therealjrn @werehatrack
I hate them.

to all of that! Parsley and cilantro are vital herbs. Also parsnips are amazeballs. They’re so versatile!

@sillyheathen Well, I’d love to try those things - I’m sure you can change my mind!
@Kyeh @macromeh @OnionSoup @sillyheathen @therealjrn @werehatrack It’s the earthy, turnipy undertone of parsnips that i don’t care for, so if there’s a way to cook that out of them, i might be able to tolerate them.
@macromeh @OnionSoup @sillyheathen @therealjrn @werehatrack
@ircon96 Same here - I’m happy with carrots all by themselves.
@ircon96 @Kyeh @macromeh @OnionSoup @sillyheathen @therealjrn @werehatrack Topic is about an astrophysicist and a term he hates but most of the discussion is about food. I really love this place.
@ircon96 @macromeh @OnionSoup @sillyheathen @therealjrn @werehatrack @yakkoTDI ME TOO!
How many bananas is 1 Irksec?
KuoH
@kuoh THIS NEEDS A GRANT FOR RESEARCH.
If you’re someone who likes Parsecs, does that make you a parsecsual?
@OnionSoup Maybe Parsecurious?
KuoH
@kuoh @OnionSoup …or, parsephile? Parsephiliac?

@troy What was it for?
@Kyeh it was our brand for electronic items
@troy Huh! Thanks.
@Kyeh @troy
Do parsecs have a lot of deep tissue?
