This sale on Morningsave.com is fascinating: it's a sale by another deal finding website (Brad's Deals), who regularly shows up as a top site in the Meh.com referrer list.
Maybe Morningsave can offer deals for Slickdeals, or possibly even Sellout.Woot next?
@mossygreen get it! Or don't. You don't need one to make yogurt. I used a yogurt maker for the first couple years of making yogurt, then realized for me it was easier to make it without. I did a couple yogurt making posts here a while back - if you're interested I can find them for you
@luvche21 I remember your posts, I can probably find them. The thing is, I have two yogurt makers already. And I don't use either regularly enough to justify a third (assuming such a thing is possible). But this one looks so nice!
@studerc Groupon also has the hair straightener for $15 cheaper. Maybe all the prices are high while they get the site up and running so they don't get more orders than they are able to fulfill.
@liz thanks for that link. I was considering it when I saw the same one for $39 at Walgreens and was disappointed this wasn't cheaper. (I'd buy from morningsave more happily though, hint hint @snapster)
@chellemonkey there's a lot of moving parts here and just looks like we're losing for the moment on that one even with the VMP boost. Hoping to win the long game and have better value as momentum kicks in.
@studerc No one is ever going to be happy with the price on anything. I'll go to Best Buy later and look at a bluray player and tell the nerd to go online and find me the lowest price and match it .... and they will. It's how everyone does business. I buy stuff here because I support the site and the staff and the owner. Do I really need half the crap that is out there being sold for a few bucks less at another site? It comes down to what ever Buyer gets the best price on stuff that has been sitting in cargo containers the longest and he needs to move them before he loses money on them. Next month we'll see exploding hover boards all over the place too. Just find me something decent at a decent price and I'll buy it. I'm good with speaker docks, bluetooth speakers, water jugs and chromebooks for now.
@somf69 I "win" a great price when the price is so good that buying something deludes me into believing i am some sort of superior being. This will prob continue until i am homeless.
Or, in real life, when something for which i have serious use suddenly becomes much more affordable.
(Mostly the first option.)
Otoh, given my purchase history, i'll buy any old crap from meh. I have to keep justifying the $5 monthly vmp charges to myself.
Also, damn. MorningSave is "meh.sellout" in everything but name. I almost cringed reading some of that canned fake smile text. Well played meh. I for one can't wait for meh.shirt; it was a damn shame that the other.shirt got so damn cliquey.
@DrunkCat So are you practicing your democratic right by voting in the derby to change that? Or are you part of the cause by not voting, thus letting the "auto-voters" dictate the outcome?
@narfcake I haven't bought a shirt.woot since 2012, I plenty tried and voted diligently up until that point. Though you don't really realize how closed the culture there is until you participate as an artist.
Also I really hope "auto-voters" are like those who vote D or R regardless of character and not actual voting bots because that'd make shirt.woot even more depressing.
@narfcake All they'd have to do is resurrect the Rep score and tie it to the vote. Wooters love meaningless stuff to brag about. Mine has been sitting at the same number for a few years now.
Though you don't really realize how closed the culture there is until you participate as an artist.
I've seen/felt this as well, but I don't fault them too much. Early on, it depressed me that an artist would go down and comment/compliment only their "friends'" designs. Definitely didn't make me feel welcomed. But it's not the most important thing (for me) in the derbies, so now I no longer worry about the negative or lack of comments. I do wish there was more engagement... I grow tired of the same kinds of shirts winning on the regular.
@Mehrocco_Mole: AFAIK, there never was a rep score for the regular forums; just deals.woot.
@ACraigL: The "same kinds of shirts winning" has always been the fallacy when it's a democracy. Folks tend to gravitate towards what they like, so they'll vote what they like, others buy what they like, and repeat.
On a different note, with all the Google Trends graphs going, I decided do a little comparison:
Looks like the shirt.woot's drop from March 2012 onward is more because of this and less so much of Ramy setting up shop.
@f00l: Folks who automatically vote for an artist, regardless of quality (which is subjective, I know) or suitability to the derby subject, but have no intention to actually purchase the said shirt if it places and prints. It's pretty damaging when the design undersells the already low vote counts.
Please nobody buy the TopChip sets. Mediocre needs to keep these to use decorating it's schmancy new offices in Downtown Trendyville, Dallas, where parking is logically impossible.
I almost pulled the trigger on the Mix 'n' Twist because I ordered the Polar Blast when meh had it and I love it. I decided to do a quick search before buying to see if it came with the gadget to push the ice cream through. Up popped a link to a YouTube video Nostalgia Electrics made of the product. Not only is the sound on the video horrible but watching the ice cream mixture "dispense" is one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen. It looks like a cat crapping. Jump to the 0:50 mark. Stay watching longer to see how bad the guy in the video is at pretending what he's eating is delicious.
@sammydog01 when I was a teenager my dad owned a shaved ice concession and I worked there. It was delicious. But now it's crazy to me to think about the syrup we made. There were 5 pounds of sugar in every gallon!
Ooh, Ollies below Meh price for VMPs- nice!

@dashcloud Probably unlikely with Woot. And even more unlikely that any Mediocre site would advertise on deals.woot.
Uch, I did so well not buying that yogurt maker, and now it's back to taunt me further!
@mossygreen get it! Or don't. You don't need one to make yogurt. I used a yogurt maker for the first couple years of making yogurt, then realized for me it was easier to make it without. I did a couple yogurt making posts here a while back - if you're interested I can find them for you

@mossygreen Well if you're like me, procrastinating long enough to not buy it means that it won't be available when I actually do want to buy it :)
@mossygreen - One of the few things I regretted not buying. One is now on the way, so I have you to thank/blame. (Should I invoke @stardate820926?)
@KDemo At last I have done right by meh!
Who are these "Steals on the Real" people?
@lumpthar I thought the video was a mediocre joke but found out it's a real talk show.
@callow clearly it must be named to remove that ambiguity
@callow I thought it was some joke... then I saw online only... and was like... Mediocre has phone lines? ;)
@callow It's one of those jokes where you're expecting the punchline and it never comes around. Like a career, or life in general.
Yikes...looks like Morningside just got bitch slapped by Woot.

@snapster woot is sooooooo 2010

the Martian watch is cheaper on Amacrap and Ebay
What is "The Real" and is there a competing group "The Feels" ?
Also, damn. MorningSave is "meh.sellout" in everything but name. I almost cringed reading some of that canned fake smile text. Well played meh. I for one can't wait for meh.shirt; it was a damn shame that the other.shirt got so damn cliquey.
@DrunkCat I think that'd be sellout.meh for best depressing comparison.
@snapster Too much coding makes me parent.child. Though you haven't sold a coffee related product in weeks so really the typo's are your fault.
I'm kidding, it's because you guys haven't sold a flask I could bring into work.
@DrunkCat So are you practicing your democratic right by voting in the derby to change that? Or are you part of the cause by not voting, thus letting the "auto-voters" dictate the outcome?

@DrunkCat A lot has changed at shirt.woot since 2012. Look at Derby 242 versus last week's, and note the votes, number of entries, and comments.
And yes, I am talking about folks who vote by name, not actual bots.
@narfcake All they'd have to do is resurrect the Rep score and tie it to the vote. Wooters love meaningless stuff to brag about. Mine has been sitting at the same number for a few years now.

@ACraigL I don't usually vote for cat shirts, Star War shirts, or anything designed to show that the wearer is smarter than me.

@narfcake The true definition of Democracy: Two wolves and a sheep voting on what's for lunch.

@narfcake
What is auto-voting, regarding the derbies? Obviously i am poorly informed.
@sammydog01
You said "I don't usually vote for cat shirts, Star War shirts, or anything designed to show that the wearer is smarter than me."
But that filter would leave me with no shirts left to buy!!!!
(I have low standards for feeling dumb)
@DrunkCat
@ACraigL
So how many here are artists? Wow i am ignorant.
@f00l: Folks who automatically vote for an artist, regardless of quality (which is subjective, I know) or suitability to the derby subject, but have no intention to actually purchase the said shirt if it places and prints. It's pretty damaging when the design undersells the already low vote counts.
@f00l: Also, @ignorant may take umbrage for your other post.
@narfcake
So i'm ignorant and possibly rude re @ignorant.
Have i also offended @umbrage?
Should i offer an @apology?
Deeper and deeper i sink....
@f00l you aren't ignorant, just a fool.
Re: auto-voting, woot got what they asked for
@Ignorant
Bingo!
Please nobody buy the TopChip sets. Mediocre needs to keep these to use decorating it's schmancy new offices in Downtown Trendyville, Dallas, where parking is logically impossible.

@LadyLeela the money shot:

@LadyLeela Apparently he did a good job because they sold out.
The other problem is there is 2 Morning Save Discussion Threads going on right now....
https://meh.com/forum/topics/morningsave
The video comments are hilarious. More discussion of the hosts "throwing shade" than of the actual product.
@Collin1000 I wish my wife got that excited over a toothbrush.
@ACraigL Get her one that vibrates.
Morningsave has new kitchen stuff- I just bought a sno- cone maker for $26 (VMP). Hello, summer.
@sammydog01 Holy crap, it's sold out. Did I buy the only one?
@sammydog01 so jealous! I've been wanting to replace ours for a while.
@stardate820926 What kind of syrup do you use with yours?
@sammydog01 when I was a teenager my dad owned a shaved ice concession and I worked there. It was delicious. But now it's crazy to me to think about the syrup we made. There were 5 pounds of sugar in every gallon!
@djslack Yes, but a gallon's good for at least 8 or 9 sno-cones. According to my kids.
@sammydog01 we usually use the cheapo syrup from Walmart mixed with a little vodka or tequila.
@sammydog01 had it been available, i would have too
OK, things are getting a little stale there lately, time to freshen things up a bit with some new stuff....
Morningsave has got shun knives. Took so long i bought mine at nearly.useless.woot.
Can anyone else get MorningSave to load? I haven't been able to get it to load using Chrome or Firefox the last few times I've tried.
@PurplePawprints
It's loading fine for me.
@FroodyFrog And of course, I just tried again and it loaded. But I swear, I tried it multiple times over the last day or so and it wouldn't load.
@PurplePawprints
Murphy's 2nd cousin has a law which this would fall under.
I never cared much for Murphy's cousin, so I never bothered to remember the rule.
