5I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles) by The Proclaimers
“I aim to be (bi ten by ten by ten far)” by The Say Men
When I wake up, well I know I’m gonna be,
Me at get up, yes I ken I aim to be
I’m gonna be the man who wakes up next to you
I aim to be the man who can get up by you
When I go out, yeah I know I’m gonna be
Me at go out, yes I ken I aim to be
I’m gonna be the man who goes along with you
I aim to be the man who can go out by you
If I get drunk, well I know I’m gonna be
If I get lit, yes I ken I aim to be
I’m gonna be the man who gets drunk next to you
I aim to be the man who can get lit by you
And if I haver, hey I know I’m gonna be
And if I gab it up, hey I ken I aim to be
I’m gonna be the man who’s havering to you
I aim to be the man who can gab on for you
Chorus:
But I would walk 500 miles
But I aim to go bi ten by ten by ten far
And I would walk 500 more
And I aim to yet go bi ten by ten by ten far
Just to be the man who walks a thousand miles
So I am the man who can go ten by ten by ten far
To fall down at your door
To lie me at thy way to go out
When I’m working, yes I know I’m gonna be
The day I go to job, yes I ken I aim to be
I’m gonna be the man who’s working hard for you
I aim to be the man who can do tip top job for you
And when the money comes in for the work I do
And as I get the pay I get for the job I do
I’ll pass almost every penny on to you
I aim to let you get all my pay but one
And if I grow old, well I know I’m gonna be
And if I get old, yes I ken I aim to be
I’m gonna be the man who’s growing old with you
I aim to be the man, the can be by you old man
Chorus
Da da da da da da da da etc
Etc
Etc
Etc
When I’m lonely, well I know I’m gonna be
If no one is by me, yes I ken I aim to be
I’m gonna be the man who’s lonely without you
I aim to be the man, the man sad he is not by you
And when I’m dreaming, well I know I’m gonna dream
And as I see in the REM, yes I ken I see in the REM
I’m gonna dream about the time when I’m with you
I see me as I am by you in the REM era
When I go out- when I go out-, well I know I’m gonna be
For as I go out- as I go out-, yes I ken I aim to be
I’m gonna be the man who goes along with you
I aim to be the man who go out as you do
And when I come home-, when I come home-, yes I know I’m gonna be
And as I go to the not out-, as I go to the not out-, yes I ken I aim to be
I’m gonna be the man who comes back home with you
I aim to be the man who go to the not out for you
I’m gonna be the man who’s coming home with you
I aim to be the man who can go not out for you
Chorus
Da da da da da etc again

Well done, but why didn't you put up a video of you singing it ? I know I know it's for the contest, but still a video would be better.
Love it. I might consider: "As I" instead of "Me at" for the "When I" part in the early goings.
Good point. Early on I didn't like the "bi ten by ten by ten" part, but it grew on me. Plus, how else can you say "five" in mad ape den??
This is great! I've got one nearly done. Don't know if I have the balls to sing it- or maybe that's the problem..
It was harder than I thought it would be, and I'm still not 100% happy with it, but there are some gems. I think "to lie me at thy way to go out" is my favorite line, followed closely by "can do tip top job for you." :)
