Life as December Goat: Day 7
12One week down as goat! You all have been super generous with your blames and I thank each of you for allowing me to be some part of your adventures be them good or bad, lol. Anyway! My youngest kiddo will be playing one of the leads in a play this evening so I will be busy all day getting her schoolwork finished promptly, getting her ready for the play, and probably helping the hubbie get firewood to the house in preparation for some snow event happening tomorrow and Sunday here. I didn’t want to take a chance at not getting to post today so here we go!
It is breakfast time here and here is my choice for the day:
Yep, grown woman here eating cereal with Mario on it. Life is good, lol. Do you still enjoy the cereals of your youth? My favorite of all time is Fruity Pebbles. If they bottled that smell you find when you cut open an new package of the pebbles I would buy it and wear it daily!

OMG, my son will want that cereal! Where did you find it? I have never seen it.
Also, I still devour boxes of Capt. Crunch with Crunch Berries myself. Yum!
@mfladd I found it at Sam’s Club. People sell unopened boxes on eBay due to the Nintendo collect-ability. It’s was $5.48 for a pack with 2 boxes inside at Sam’s. It is also available on their website.
It’s pretty tasty!
@mfladd I’ll see your Cap’n Crunch with Crunchberries and I’ll raise you, pseudo Cap’n Crunch with Crunchberries AND marshmallows! Taking a great thing and making it even better!
@mfladd A few months back I found some at Fred Meyers, so maybe Kroger/QFC/whatever the other local names for the store is, might have some. It seems like it less limited now than when it was new so hopefully it’s not hard to find.
@mfladd @metaphore @cinoclav these Captain Crunch Chocolate Chip cookies (https://www.sweetrecipeas.com/2009/06/13/aye-aye-captain/)
are SO good, I made them one year after I saw them on my friend’s baking blog, added them to my variety of Christmas cookie plate and nearly inhaled them all myself. Sooooo good!!
@moonhat Ohhhhhh…yum. Thanks!
But I am going to use the crunch berries too
@cinoclav I am soooo looking for that!
@mfladd Walmart
@tnhillbillygal Yeah, I don’t have a need for Sam’s membership so I will just keep hoping it shows up on other shelves.
@mfladd I was gonna post that captain crunch is the best!!! You have good taste!!!
@moonhat my mom just told me that my aunt just asked me to make her some baked goods as a Christmas present since she doesn’t have time to bake and I make good stuff. Maybe I should try these? Do they end up tasting like the cereal? My mom loves Captain crunch. I feel like it leaves a oily residue in my mouth.
@RiotDemon I thought they were a fun addition to the regular cookies on my plate (the ones I always make each year- frosted sugar cookies, chews, snowballs, gingerbread/molasses whatevers, buckeye balls, coconut macaroons, rum balls, peanut blossoms, etc). I thought they were really delicious. There’s no oily residue that I can remember, but then again I have put all cereals on a pedestal so they can do no wrong… They do taste like the cereal but better.
@moonhat I think I’ll give them a try. Thanks!
@cinoclav Sold Out!
@mfladd That’s because they’re so damn good. Keep checking.
I never did care for cereal marketed towards kids, even when I was a kid. Rice Krispies, Corn Flakes, or Shredded Wheat? Where’s the serving bowl?!
@narfcake I can get down on those if there is a spoonful of sugar sprinkled over them, lol. Strawberry mini-wheats are amazing!
Cereal is a snack for me. Handfuls of dry cereal with a cup (or three) of milk.
@jst1ofknd My oldest kiddo will only eat cereal dry. I like mine with milk in the pursuit of finding just the right consistency between crunchy and mushy.
I love just about all cereal. I can’t allow myself to even buy any because I eat it way too fast. Yummm. Right about now I could go for a mixing-size bowl full of Frosted Flakes, or frosted shredded wheat, or grape nuts or cocoa krispies or Apple Jacks or Raisin Bran crunch, or cinnamon life, or prob my fave of all- Golden Grahams. Mmm
@2many2no For some unknown reason, because I love reese’s, I just will not eat that combination in a cereal.
@2many2no they make peanut butter and chocolate shredded mini wheats now too. Those are pretty tasty!
@mfladd the cereal chocolate/pb flavor is a big letdown if you’re after Reese’s, because it does fall short of that bar (as does actual chocolate and peanut butter if you don’t add more sugar to the pb, lol). But taken without that expectation, it works for some cereal.
The most subversive cereal of all time?
@shahnm
I can live without it and my familly too
My opinion that Cereal don’t have some vitamins
It’s only snack and that’s all
Better to eat grilled vegetables and meat
{VMod edit: removed link}
I could eat Fruity Pebbles and Cocoa Pebbles every day if its not kid cereal for breakfast then I will just have a whiskey.
I lived on cheap generic cereal for a while when I was in school. I opted for that once I was burned out on latex bologna sammiches, ramen, and generic mac n cheese. That seemed to quash my breakfast cereal desires for these days.
Every once in a while I’ll get a box of cinnamon flavoured Life, Special K, or peanut butter Cap’n Crunch just to remind me why I don’t eat cereal anymore.
I bought a big 2 pound bag of just the cereal type dried up marshmallows on Amazon a bit ago. As a snack treat. That was fun for a day. I probably still had 3/4 of the bag a year later and binned it.
Besides captain crunch, I love golden crisp!!
Now they have a newer cereal that I discovered: Krave. I was very skeptical and hesitant to try it at first. Then (I think this was 2 years ago maybe?) after Halloween, they had little snack packs of it that I bought on super clearance. One piece and I knew it would be crazy good in milk.
Years later… my 2 kids and I are all addicted to it. It might have crack or something in it, idk. It’s seriously so friggen good. The texture of it is perfect!
It has to be the regular kind though. We tried the double chocolate one and it just wasn’t the same.
@LemonTheCat we call this cereal “cat treat” cereal because it reminds us of the Whiskas Temptations, lol. My daughter loves it too!
@LemonTheCat @tnhillbillygal oh my gosh, it does totally look like those cat treats! Too funny.
@moonhat @tnhillbillygal hahaha I never noticed that!! Lemon doesn’t like temptations… she prefers Friskiest Crunch. But you are absolutely right - they do look like temptations!!
Have fun at the play!
@mollama Thanks!!! I’m more nervous than she is at this point!
I once ate an entire box of FiberOne cereal on a challenge. The worst part of the whole experience was the cloying taste of the artificial sweeteners.
@Limewater how was your insides afterwards?
@RiotDemon I actually kept some interesting notes, but I’m not sure they would be welcome here…
On the whole, it really wan’t too bad. There was a little discomfort, but my evaluation at the time was that choking the aspartame-laden stuff down really was the worst part.
I don’t react well to inulin, which FiberOne is full of, but eating a whole box of it was not much worst than eating just a tiny bit of it.
@Limewater @RiotDemon POIDH
@mehcuda67 @RiotDemon Well, actually, I had intended on taking a few pictures, but then at some point my wife got mad at me for something.
I’m no marriage expert by any means, but one lesson I’ve learned is that, while arguing with your spouse, don’t take a picture of your poop.
@Limewater @mehcuda67 thank God.
@Limewater @RiotDemon Truly words to live by.
Sadly, I’ve outgrown the Cap’n Crunch, Lucky Charms, et al of my youth.
I have myself a bowl of Great Grains Raisins, Dates & Pecans every day before work, but my all-time favorite was Maple Pecan Crunch. When they discontinued it I was inconsolable.
Ok, I’m gonna have to blame you for the Cap’n Crunch recipe leading to the idiot woman that sued over Crunchberries not being real. And that leading to the black hole of Lowering The Bar.
Crunchberries idiot:

And many, many more.
I want the last hour or two back.
@blaineg that last one. So much work for what seems like very little reward.
@blaineg sorry about the rabbit hole!
/giphy rabbit hole
@RiotDemon Depends on how you look at it. For a grade, yea. But how many people can say they got an amendment passed?
Anyone have an idea where that last gif came from? I tried searching without success.
@RiotDemon I came up dry, Google’s results were mostly Giphy matches, and TinEye returned zero matches.
@blaineg I appreciate you trying.
