Put your vote in - was the internet right or wrong?
https://neal.fun/lets-settle-this/
I’m mostly in agreement with these, other than gif.
I disagree with the popular opinion on hot dogs. But it’s still early in the voting.
I am kind of 50/50
/giphy table flip
@narfcake I thought we settled that years ago on this forum.
The internet has been proven wrong. Pineapple is good on pizza
I don’t care what color the dress was, the image was white and gold.
The internet is full of insane, psycho, monsters!!! How?!? How could you, internet???
@shahnm Thank Jod that was settled.
@shahnm I will forever and always prounce it with a soft ‘G’, as the person who supposedly invented the file format at CompuServe intended.
@PooltoyWolf
/giphy testify!
@shahnm Jif is peanut butter
@heartny
/giphy peanut butter
It’s also a gif…
@PooltoyWolf @shahnm
But since the G stands for “graphics,” it SHOULD be a hard G!
@Kyeh @PooltoyWolf @shahnm So giga- is derived from gigantic. Do you pronounce the first G as soft G (like Doc Brown in BTTF) or as hard G?
@Kyeh @macromeh @PooltoyWolf

@Kyeh @macromeh @PooltoyWolf @shahnm
A ginger giant sipping on some gin and juice agrees.
@Kyeh @macromeh @shahnm You said it better than I could!
@macromeh @PooltoyWolf @shahnm
Yes, but “giant” and “giga” followed different etymological paths (French vs. Greek.)
Gif’s pronunciation was a gimmicky choice, for whatever reason:
Honestly, though, this girl doesn’t really give a damn and is beginning to want a good gimlet to get sloshed to the gills.
@Kyeh @macromeh @PooltoyWolf Geeeez…
@Kyeh @macromeh @shahnm Your direct quote settles it once and for all
@macromeh @PooltoyWolf @shahnm
Nah.
Yanny or Laurel?
@Kyeh
No.
@sammydog01
Chicken or Beef Taco?
@mike808
Yes, but if it has a crispy yellow u-shaped shell, it’s not a “taco”.
@mike808 Potato?
@sammydog01

@mike808 Pork
Not even asking the right questions.
What about corner brownies?!
@mehcuda67 They’re edge brownies, deluxe ones.
@Kyeh @mehcuda67
There’s a serpentine pan for people who want all of their brownies to be edge brownies. I prefer the centers.
@Kyeh @mehcuda67 @werehatrack center brownie is the correct answer
@Kyeh @mehcuda67 @tinamarie1974 @werehatrack
However, the center is completely the wrong answer for Imo’s pizza. IYKYK.
@mehcuda67 @werehatrack Yeah, I’ve seen those!
@Kyeh @mehcuda67 @mike808 @werehatrack i like both the edge and the center of Imos for different reasons
@tinamarie1974
The center just has no place to hold it. However, that is offset by having more stuff on it, especially that roof-of-your-mouth scorching melty deliciousness called provel.
Xbox or PlayStation? Neither. Nintendo has always been king.

@mike808 Two of my most favorite games! I replay the Prime series on the regular.
@PooltoyWolf no mention of Atari?!?!??! (Some of us are old l
@tinamarie1974 IYKYK.
Hey, WTF is on Channel 3?
@mike808 @tinamarie1974
Squirrel!
@mike808 @werehatrack oh, a shiny object
/giphy shiny
@tinamarie1974 @werehatrack
If you really remember that Atari, then you remember having to tune the TV to Channel 3 and then flip the game switch.
The car racing game on ice was the most fun. It was drifting before that was even a thing.
@mike808 @werehatrack yup! But I do NOT remember the car racing game.
I was a DK, Mr/Mrs Pac Man kinda kid
@mike808 @tinamarie1974 @werehatrack I do not recall a car on ice… But yars revenge, jungle hunt, and for beating you siblings, combat with the paddle controllers
I bet it’s still at my parents house in the case with all the cartridges and still works. Was definitely less blowing on the cartridges than the NES.
Which we of course had RCA to coax adapter for…
https://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/nes/hook_rftotv_nes.jsp
So we could plug that into a coax to fm adapter…
@mike808 @tinamarie1974 @werehatrack well did Enduro have ice anywhere? I don’t think so but that was our racer. Dodging tail lights lol
@tinamarie1974 @unksol @werehatrack
It was called “Indy 500”. The “track” was light blue, and the cars drifted around the turns, so as a kid, we always thought it was an ice rink.
@mike808 @unksol @werehatrack oh I remember that. My grandma had that at her house for us kids to play
@mike808 @tinamarie1974 @unksol @werehatrack
I seem to remember an arcade version of that game. Lots of complex tracks to choose from? Or they got more difficult as you progressed?
But the car, its motion, and the sound were the same.
@mike808 @tinamarie1974 @werehatrack
Oh we had indy 500 too… I think I’m in a weird gap. I’m googling dates and realizing NES came out before I was born. By a few years.
So. We had dad’s Atarii collection from idk. Case with the 30 cartridges underneath don’t break it. No complaints. We loved that…
Picked up an NES at a garage sale in the late 90s
I think it was when the AMD K6 Came out in 98/99 I convinced them to buy a PC and I ran some command and conquer and shitty MOH over a modem on AOL/Zeronet 40 hour CDs
NES was the last console. I was building PCs in 2000
@mike808 @tinamarie1974 @werehatrack we had that but Enduro was just pass cars. Google says there was ice.
/youtube Enduro attari
Hmm… I seem to be living mostly on the wrong side of the internet.

A hot dog is a taco.
Now the question is, “Is a taco a (folded) sandwich?”
Debates are stupid

I’m 59/66 on the life checklist
@chienfou 48/66, but since I’ve never married or had kids I missed a pretty big chunk
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@chienfou @tinamarie1974 52/66, also no kid, so I guess I’m alright.
@chienfou
57 and on indefinite hold. (Okay, I could conceivably take a helicopter ride to add one, but the rest are pretty much out of my control.)
@chienfou 60/66 - I guess it could be 61/66 depending on how Travel the World is defined.
@chienfou
missing:
gaduate college (unless an associates is considered)
meet an idol (not many idols in my life)
run a marathon
play an instrument (played the flutophone in elementary school if that qualifies. Messed around on a piano/guitar/drums but not really ‘played’ them)
explore a cave (been in lots of them, but not really ‘explored’ them)
haven’t retired …yet (but old enough to)
haven’t turned a 100.
@chienfou I took it to mean graduate FROM college because they also said “graduate high school.” So you got that one.
Apparently my opinions are mostly against what “the internet” decided. Which sounds about right i’ve never been one to go with he crowd.
