And now my counters and floors near the sink are spotless – still working on the other countertops – purging things I just don’t need!!
Day 5 - Feeling slightly good, and getting concerned because of it. I can’t stop looking over my shoulder.

Ok I could learn the chords and changes and fingering and all. Got half decent at some things.
But I have small hands. In order to do the chords or neck fingering on a guitar w a regular neck, I had to do such crazy twisty things to my arm and shoulder to get my hand into position that I was in constant horrible shoulder and neck nerve pain. And the pain lasted for an hour or more after practicing. Sometimes the ghost of the pain was still bugging me the next day.
There is a reason why so many great guitarists have excellent “pianist’s hands”.
Might have been ok w a guitar w a thinner neck. I know they make them. But I had other things to focus on and called it quits.
The guitar was a pretty nice Gibson acoustic. My step-brother has been playing it now for decades. He has normal hands. He’s shy about playing in public, but plays nicely for a casual player.

Sadly, I must report that one of our Sugar Gliders found a breach weakness somewhere in it’s cage. It escaped overnight and was eaten by one of our cats I am heart broken. It was no ones fault.
That last thought it probably had was “2017 sucks.”
I will update the sugar glider thread soon. They were so identical we are having a hard time figuring out which one it was.

2017 sucks. And its been well over
100 deg much of the day, and the humidity has varied between 30-60%.
And I noticed the heat, having been outside trying to clean up boxed stuff that I don’t know why I own.
Not in the sun. I’m not the teen-ager I once was. I can’t do that on these hot days anymore.
Ok, it also sucks that I’m a wimp and people in other places are having much hotter weather and yet here am I, whining.
And I’m whining even tho this has been a remarkably cool summer here. Often 10 deg cooler than I might expect.
And here am I whining and moaning even tho my Dad used to love playing tennis outdoors in this type of weather (3-4 hours at a stretch) even when he was 20 years older than I am right now.
I’m taking a break and drinking something cold so that I can go face All That Stuff again.
And All That Stuff will leave me stymied again shortly, because decision-making tires me out as much as the heat.
And I didn’t even get near a lot of the boxed stuff yet.
And I don’t think today ought to suck for @mfladd, even if yesterday and tomorrow do.
So @mfladd, if today sucks for you, I suppose that’s just life (in a sense), but it’s also just plain wrong.

Yes. 2017 is a horrible year and the woes just seem to keep coming…I need to be working but I have to help parents since their home flooded and they lost it and their car due to HURRICANE Harvey ! No pun intended but I know they are in the same boat with others but it suxs living away from my own home in a hotel near Austin. The assisted living places in my hometown area flooded (as did 85% of the homes in my hometown) and mom is in such bad shape and needs more care than both dad and I can give her so we have to be where she can stay in an assisted living facility.
@AttyVette I am so sorry to hear what you are going thru. This is a case where many of us hear and see the devastating carnage of these hurricanes, but the personal story of someone here really brings to light the trauma that so many families are experiencing. My prayers are with you and yours. I hope your situation improves soon and your mother can get the help she needs.

The contractor my brother talked to on Friday said he will try to start working on parents house next week BUT the kitchen and bathroom cabinets won’t be in until 6 to 8 weeks from now so parents might be in before Christmas!! Operative word is mightand I have been living away from home now for over a month and can’t imagine two more months living this way!
I know I shouldn’t complain but took dad back to spring to meet with fema representative — got notice that since my parents lost many possessions including appliances they will get grant from fema about $1800- that’s it … I know it’s better than nothing but no contents insurance and no flood insurance and dad is 88 and mom is almost 87That 1800 might buy a refrigerator —yes 2017 sucks!

@Kidsandliz no things didn’t float out the home but water sat there for a few days - things like vacuum cleaners, appliances, bedroom mattresses, the book cases , their computers , furniture that isn’t salvageable etc… the list goes on—no way can they afford to replace it so we will try to salvage what we can- course the electronics that were in the water are ruined. Right now I am working on finding an assisted living place closer to where my home is. Thanks for asking — just can’t get in the mood for holidays as it looks like it will be about Christmas before they can get back home even then, mom’s health has detoriated so much I am not sure she can return home

My younger brother is 6’3" or 6’4". He played a lot of basketball. On his HS team, players varied from about 5’8"
to 6’6" in height.
Among the team members, my brother was the only one who could not palm a basketball.
So his helpful teammates gave him a basketball with a ladies’ purse handle superglued to it as a Christmas present one year.

@f00l Lack of inventory at the moment and fears of climbing mortgage rates. As soon as something comes on the market in my price range right now it is jumped on immediately. Now had a good deal of money for a house it wouldn’t be a problem as those are not moving as quickly.

2017 sucks. And its been well over
100 deg much of the day, and the humidity has varied between 30-60%.
And I noticed the heat, having been outside trying to clean up boxed stuff that I don’t know why I own.
Not in the sun. I’m not the teen-ager I once was. I can’t do that on these hot days anymore.
Ok, it also sucks that I’m a wimp and people in other places are having much hotter weather and yet here am I, whining.
And I’m whining even tho this has been a remarkably cool summer here. Often 10 deg cooler than I might expect.
And here am I whining and moaning even tho my Dad used to love playing tennis outdoors in this type of weather (3-4 hours at a stretch) even when he was 20 years older than I am right now.
I’m taking a break and drinking something cold so that I can go face All That Stuff again.
And All That Stuff will leave me stymied again shortly, because decision-making tires me out as much as the heat.
And I didn’t even get near a lot of the boxed stuff yet.
And I don’t think today ought to suck for @mfladd, even if yesterday and tomorrow do.
So @mfladd, if today sucks for you, I suppose that’s just life (in a sense), but it’s also just plain wrong.

Yes. 2017 is a horrible year and
the woes just seem to keep coming…I need to be working but I have to help parents since their home flooded and they lost it and their car due to HURRICANE Harvey ! No pun intended but I know they are in the same boat with others but it suxs living away from my own home in a hotel near Austin. The assisted living places in my hometown area flooded (as did 85% of the homes in my hometown) and mom is in such bad shape and needs more care than both dad and I can give her so we have to be where she can stay in an assisted living facility. 
@AttyVette I am so sorry to hear what you are going thru. This is a case where many of us hear and see the devastating carnage of these hurricanes, but the personal story of someone here really brings to light the trauma that so many families are experiencing. My prayers are with you and yours. I hope your situation improves soon and your mother can get the help she needs.

The contractor my brother talked to on Friday said he will try to start working on parents house next week BUT the kitchen and bathroom cabinets won’t be in until 6 to 8 weeks from now so parents might be in before Christmas!! Operative word is might
and I have been living away from home now for over a month and can’t imagine two more months living this way!
I know I shouldn’t complain but took dad back to spring to meet with fema representative — got notice that since my parents lost many possessions including appliances they will get grant from fema about $1800- that’s it … I know it’s better than nothing but no contents insurance and no flood insurance and dad is 88 and mom is almost 87
That 1800 might buy a refrigerator —yes 2017 sucks!

@Kidsandliz no things didn’t float out the home but water sat there for a few days - things like vacuum cleaners, appliances, bedroom mattresses, the book cases , their computers , furniture that isn’t salvageable etc… the list goes on—no way can they afford to replace it so we will try to salvage what we can- course the electronics that were in the water are ruined. Right now I am working on finding an assisted living place closer to where my home is. Thanks for asking — just can’t get in the mood for holidays as it looks like it will be about Christmas before they can get back home even then, mom’s health has detoriated so much I am not sure she can return home
